BPPPA Statement from Ted Bristow
British Professional Pool Players Association President, Sports and Tournament Director B.P.P.P.A. British Professional Pool Players Association www.bpppa.org ted.bristow@bpppa.org
18 September 2006
BPPPA Statement from Ted Bristow
On my recent return from Poland I was informed about the posts made on Pro9 under the threads “Solihell” and “BPPPA Farce”.
As you are aware, I rarely write on the forums (save to issue press releases and to answer the odd rules question which may be asked from time to time) for the main reason that we (as an Association) find it unprofessional to do so. To enter into discussions with the members on any forum would certainly have no benefit and serve no constructive purpose where potential sponsors may be researching American pool in this country or indeed our Association. However, on this occasion I will be making an exception as I believe our members should be informed of the changes we intend to make for next season and also to address the issues which have been raised. In addition there are several inaccurate posts which also need to be addressed and corrected where people are either innocently mistaken, or in some cases, fuelling the threads for the sake of alternate interests. It was my original intention to issue a statement to all members towards the end of the season but as these threads have been written I feel it more appropriate to do this without delay.

GB9 Tour offering two spots to qualifiers
The GB9 Tour have been awarded with 4 spots by the BPPPA to represent Great Britain in the 8 & 9Ball categories at the EPBF European Championships later this year. The first two spots have already been awarded to the top two ranked players on the GB9 Tour (Imran Majid and Raj Hundal) but the other two spots will be made available to qualifiers.
Here's your chance to represent the UK on an all expenses paid trip to Willingen in Germany. Yes, no need to worry about entry fees or flights or accommodation, as it will all be covered for the winner of this tournament - and there will even be prize money for semi-finalists too if numbers permit.

U. S. Open 9-Ball Championship Expects Full Field of 256
2006 U. S. Open 9-Ball Championship Chesapeake Conference Center Chesapeake Virginia USA www.billiardclub.net www.usopen9ballchampionships.com
25 September - 1 October 2006
www.billiardclub.net
US Open Update
The 2006 U. S. Open 9-Ball Championship, scheduled for September 25 – October 1, 2006, in Chesapeake, VA, will again feature a full field of 256 international players. With just 10 days until the event begins, player registration is at the highest level than any year in the previous 31-year history of the event.
"We’re getting player registrations from all around the world like never before," said Barry Behrman, US Open founder and promoter. "The TV distribution worldwide for the past several years, along with the WPA sanctioning, has created such a tremendous interest from international players that we’ll have a full field for sure. So, if you’re planning to play, this is the last chance, because it’s a first come first serve deal."

2011 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool - Defending champs dumped!
PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool 2011 The Block Atrium SM North EDSA Quezon City Manila Philippines www.matchroompool.com
Tuesday-Sunday 6-11 September 2011
Francisco Bustamante and Efren Reyes - Team Philippines B Home town heroes win through
2006 and 2009 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool Champions Philippines B, comprised of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante, made their way into the last 16 of this year’s event with an 8-4 victory over plucky debutants Kuwait at the SM Mall North in Manila.
Nobody gave the Kuwait pair of Khaled Al Mutaira and Omar Al Shaheen any kind of hope but they did themselves proud, sticking with the Filipino pair in the early stages before succumbing down the home stretch.
Both sides wore snappy outfits based on their national flags, but it was the home side that the packed crowd had come to see. As predicted the Philippines started well and took the first two racks fairly quickly.
As huge underdogs, the Kuwaiti duo of Al Mutaira and Al Shaheen though were under no pressure at all, and that showed as they won the next two to silence the crowd.
The Philippines won the next two to restore their lead but the game Kuwaiti pair took the next to leave it poised at 4-3. A cracking long pot in the next from Bustamante set the Philippines on their way to taking the rack as the score stood at 5-3.

"The Magician"
"Bata" does it again and wins the big money!
"The Magician" Efren "Bata" Reyes wins $500,000 at the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship with a magnificent 8:6 win over Hawaii's Rodney "The Rocket" Morris in Reno, Nevada.
Morris will take $150,000 for his efforts, but by all accounts it was a tense and nervous final, as Morris scratched in the side pocket on his break no less than THREE times, and Reyes MISSED two 8-balls.

PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool - Day 6 Updates
Women’s 9-ball World Championship 2011 Tennis Hall of Training Base of Hunnan, Liaoning 32 Hunnan Mid Road Hunnan New District Shenyang 110168 China www.wpa-pool.com - Twitter
22 - 25 September 2011
All photography © Alison Chang for the WPA - used by Pro9 with express permission. DOOMSDAY FOR THE DUCHESS
September 22nd, 2011 will be a day Allison Fisher would love to soon forget.
Fisher, one of the greatest women players of all time and a four time World 9-ball champion, crashed out of this year’s Women’s World 9-ball Championship just barely after the event had gotten underway in the northeastern city of Shenyang, China. The “Duchess of Doom,” who finished second last year in this event, lost twice in one day and will now have to watch the remainder of pool’s premiere women’s tournament from the stands.
Things began ominously for the Hall of Famer when she drew Taiwanese great Shin Mei Lui in her first match of the group stage in the 64 player event on Thursday. With six world titles between them, the two slugged it out right to the end, with Liu taking the win by a nose, 7-6.
This sent Fisher over to the losers side of her group where she faced a do or die battle against rising Korean talent Park Eun Ji in the last session of the evening. The match took on extra significance because it was played on the TV table in front of a packed house inside the Liaoning Hunnan Sports Training Base arena.

7 - 10 December 2011
Click the image to view the larger poster - use "back" to return here. Players invited to register for the Kremlin Cup 9-Ball Open
The Kremlin Cup has always been predominantly about the exacting game of Russian Pyramid - the exclusively Russian billiard game with ultra large white balls on the huge table with the toughest ball to pocket ratio of any cuesport, and it's impossible to stress enough how highly this event is regarded in Moscow, although the fact that it has been proudly called "the Wimbledon of Billiards" by one Russian pundit should give you an idea, and the first events were actually held inside the Kremlin Palace!
The Kremlin Cup was originally exclusive to invited Russian Pyramid players, but more recently the event has been opened up to international competitors, and although it's always been difficult to get results from this tournament, I do know that the 9-Ball event was won by Sandor Tot in 2005, and by Ruslan Chinakov in 2006 - and this year this televised event will feature participants from England, Holland, Germany, China, Italy, Sweden, Poland, the Philippines, Croatia and more!
