GB9 is delighted to announce that Gareth Hibbott, recently crowned IPA World Blackball Champion, will make his GB9 debut at the Paul Medati Trophy on 8th April 2016. Winner of both the singles and doubles titles in Bradford back at the beginning of February, Gareth is an extremely well respected player in the world of English pool and only time will tell whether his undoubted skill can transfer to the American code. GB9’s press officer, Martyn Royce, caught up with Gareth: MR: Firstly, huge congratulations on your recent World Blackball Championship victories. The fact that both your singles and doubles finals went right to the wire prove your tenacity and ability to hold your nerve at the business end of a match. Is this something you pride yourself on or did it just come to you in the moment? GH: Thanks very much Martyn. I do feel like I usually play well in pressure situations, but being down to a black ball shootout and a single frame for world titles was certainly nerve wracking! All you can do is try and rely on your technique and hope it holds up – thankfully it just about did.

| 2016 Mosconi Cup XXIII - Team USA Latest Rankings |
2016 Mosconi Cup XXIII Alexandra Palace Alexandra Palace Way London Greater London N22 7AY www.matchroompool.com - facebook - twitter - instagram - youtube - full rankings www.alexandrapalace.com
Tuesday-Friday 6-9 December 2016
Dominguez is early leader as qualification race hots up WITH FIVE of the scheduled 25 tournaments in the Official Mosconi Cup Team USA Ranking list having taken place, it is California’s Oscar Dominguez who leads the way following his win at the Jay Swanson Memorial at the weekend. His 30 point haul, added to the 38 he won at Turning Stone and the DCC in January, gives him an 11 point lead over seasoned Mosconi Cup veteran Rodney Morris in second place. Dominguez, 30, is looking to make his second appearance in Team USA colours after winning on his debut in 2009. In third position is Shane Van Boening, who has only played in one of the five events, but made the most of it in winning the Derby City Classic. Other tournament winners include 7th placed Skyler Woodward who took the Texas 10 Ball Open and Mike Dechaine who claimed the Empire State 10 Ball at the weekend. That event had its allocated points reduced by a third and awarded them to top 16 players only following a reduced entry of 32 players.

Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) just won the Dynamic Billard Italian Open for Women in Treviso, Italy, with an easy 7:1 victory over Christine Wiechert (GER).
It was Wiechert’s first appearance in a Euro-Tour final and she has had already several tough matches behind her so she seemed to be a bit tired and worn out already. Her opponent was completely the opposite. Ouschan is used to final matches and TV settings and long final days so she was very much on top of her game. That constellation was proven to be true during the final match. Wiechert seems to be out of power. Trailing 0:2 to strong Ouschan, she even missed an easy 9-ball. That was probably a crucial point in the match. From then on, the mistakes accumulated and Wiechert could not find any remedy against her strong opponent. Ouschan switched to „business-as-usual“ mode and took rack after rack. In the end, the final result of 7:1 in favor of Ouschan is a true display of the final match. However, it can be regarded a huge success for Wiechert to have reached the final in a Euro-Tour event for the first time in her career.
„I had a rough start into the event“, stated Ouschan after the match, „I lost my opener and did not perform well. I had bad back problems before this event and I even had to cancel my participation into the men’s event earlier this week.“ „My back still kind of hurts but it got better and so did my performance. In the end, this trophy is a nice reward for all the pain and efforts“, Ouschan added.

A full field of 39 players joined us at the Raging Ball venue in St Albans on Saturday 20th February 2016 for Event One of the 2016 Amateur Series. The T9B Amateur series is now in it's 7th season and each year it becomes just that little bit more prestigious. This season T9B have opted to allow 39 players per event due to the popular demand of last season. This creates one preliminary round on each side of the draw which at event one was decided by a random draw but based on results of this event will seed players so the best performing players would get the dreaded preliminary match at E2. This season the prize money is guaranteed at each event but on top of that there is also added prize money too if we get a full field of players.
Matches kicked off at 10am on the dot and you could most definately feel the tension in the Raging Ball venue as players all wanted to get off to a good start in the 10 event ranking series. Mark Williams didn't give Luke Rollison a kind welcome back to the sport after a year away as Mark reached seven racks before Luke moved from minus racks to zero. Mark Parker got the better of Dave Worrow 7v3 while the close match of the preliminary round saw Jaspal Bamotra edge out Michael Beeston 7v6.
As we move into the round of 64 players some had already played for the right to keep both of their lives intact while some were fortunate enough to avoid playing. Tom Staveley's event began well with score-lines of 7v3 against Adrian Hickson and 7v4 against Rich Fullwell. Jaspal Bamotra also got out of the Last 64 round with both lives intact as he eliminated Sean Dracup 7v4 and followed this with a good 7v2 win over returning Steve Davison. Morray Dolan was back at the table and looked in great form as he took out Mark Newell 7v3 and Nick Hampton 7v5. Steve Chick won his two matches both by a 7v4 result against new player Chris Kiziak and Mark Newell. Share this article on FaceBook

| 2016 Mosconi Cup XXIII - Two captains named for MC XXIII |
2016 Mosconi Cup XXIII Alexandra Palace Alexandra Palace Way London Greater London N22 7AY www.matchroompool.com - facebook - twitter - instagram - youtube www.alexandrapalace.com
Tuesday-Friday 6-9 December 2016
Two captains named for MC XXIII MARCUS CHAMAT and MARK WILSON have been retained as respective captains of Team Europe and Team USA for the 23rd annual Mosconi Cup match which takes place at the Alexandra Palace, London from Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th December. Chamat, 40, was victorious on his captaincy debut at the Tropicana in Las Vegas last year as he guided his side to an 11-7 victory. He will be hoping to make it two from two in London. The diminutive Swede’s Mosconi Cup journey began at the York Hall in 2000 when he made his debut and two years later was a key member of the European side which won for the first time in seven years. “Last year was like a dream come true for me, to be part of such a great event as the Mosconi Cup once again,” said Chamat. “I really missed it so much every year, and what was great to see was that it has really grown and got even bigger and better if that’s possible, and the best is yet to come! “I really felt like I was a part of the team and you have to prepare so differently from the players; less practice and your mindset is to get the team together and work well. “I really learnt a lot from my first year as captain, and the bad news for the American team is that I will only improve and come out even stronger. “But London is where it all started for me in 2000 and since then it’s never left my heart. With over 2,000 screaming fans, most of them from England one can only imagine what it will feel like!”
