The final matches of this year’s Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes have been played. The last titles were taken by Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL), Henrik Larsson (SWE) and Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP).
The men’s final was more or less a one man show from Sanchez-Ruiz. His opponent Joshua Filler (GER) could not find into the match at all and when he was at the table he seemed to make the wrong decisions regarding his shot selection.

"Read More..." for the details.
All of this lead to a huge domination of Sanchez-Ruiz in the final and consequently the match ended with a high result of 9:3 in his favor.
Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP) Joshua Filler (GER) Denis Grabe (EST) Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS)
The women’s final was a story with a great comeback for Khodjaeva. Her opponent Ina Kaplan (GER) looked like the sure winner being 6:2 up on Khodjaeva. But somehow the tide turned in favor of the Belgian. She started to rule the match and Kaplan seemed to be nervous. She missed more and more shots and consequently, Khodjaeva got closer and even tied the match hill-hill at 6:6. The final rack was an affair of nerves and safety play where Khodjaeva had the better ending on her side.
Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) Ina Kaplan (GER) Kristina Grim (GER) Sara Rocha (POR)
In the wheelchair division, the final match took a similar course than the men’s final did. Henrik Larsson dominated the match over Kurt Deklerck (BEL) and took a start-to-finish victory with 7:2 which was never really endangered. Today, Larsson was simply too strong for Deklerck.
Henrik Larsson (SWE) Kurt Deklerck (BEL) Fred Dinsmore (IRL) Jouni Tahti (FIN)
That concludes the coverage of the Dynamic Billard European Championships. We will be back with more action from the Euro-Tours coming up here in St. Johann i.Pg., starting on Thursday.
DAY 11 - AM

Joshua Filler (GER) has just ended Austria’s hopes to receive another Gold Medal in the men’s 9-ball division at the Dynamic Billard European Championships in St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, by eliminating Albin Ouschan (AUT) 9:3.
It seems to be a tough day for Austrian pool today. The national TV station is here and they will broadcast six hours LIVE today on ORF SPORT+. Of course, the Austrian Federation wanted be represented in the semifinals with at least one player. And this morning things looked quite promising for Austria since they were represented in the men’s division with Albin Ouschan and they even had two promising athletes in the women’s division, Jasmin Ouschan and Sandra Baumgartner. Surprisingly for everyone, Jasmin Ouschan lost her match in the round of the last 16 players against Germany’s Vivien Schade (GER). That was a huge upset for the event. Ouschan was definitely highly favored in the match but she did not play her best game today. To the contrary, Schade played excellent and did not commit any mistakes in order to win with 7:2 over Ouschan. In the quarter-finals, Schade then lost 6:7 to Sara Rocha (POR).
Albin Ouschan had a very tough draw in the round of the last 16 men. He encountered „The Terminator“ Niels Feijen (NED). That match was really exciting and thrilling. Feijen went up 6:3 over Ouschan but then he started committing several mistakes. He either ran out of position or missed shots. That gave Albin Ouschan the chance to come back and even take an 8:7 lead over Feijen. It was Feijen’s turn at the table at 8:7 for Ouschan. He was clearing up the table when he played the 6-ball but missed it since it hit the jaw of the pocket. Ouschan got a shot and went for it. He ran the last remaining balls and won that match with 9:7 over strong Dutch Feijen. In the quarterfinal round, Ouschan met Joshua Filler (GER). The young German had just eliminated Andreas Gerwen (SWE) 9:6. That match turned out to be a disaster for Ouschan. His breakshot did not work, he ran out of position and the balls did not roll in his favor. Filler however was blessed with two lucky shots in the match. Additionally, he played well and came up with good break shots. So in the end the final result of 9:3 over Ouschan is a real display of the performances in that match.
Sandra Baumgartner (AUT) was the last remaining Austrian hope for a representation in the semifinals today. In the round of the last 16 players, Baumgartner defeated Zrinka Antonijevic (CRO) 7:5. In the quarterfinal, she was up against Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL). Khodjaeva ousted Anna Mazhirina (RUS) 7:5 in the round before. The quarterfinal started pretty comfortably for Baumgartner. After four racks, the scoreboard displayed a 4:0 lead for Baumgartner. Khodjaeva was not even on the scoreboard yet. But then things completely changed in the match. Khodjaeva pulled back rack after rack and she managed to win seven racks in a row, winning the match 7:4 over Baumgartner.
Semifinal matches: Men Denis Grabe (EST) v Joshua Filler (GER) Russland Chinakhov (RUS) v Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP) Women Sara Rocha (POR) v Ina Kaplan (GER) Kristina Grim (GER) v Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) Wheelchair Henrik Larsson (SWE) v Fred Dinsmore (IRL) Kurt Deklerck (BEL) v Jouni Tahti (FIN)
Today, the semifinal matches will begin at 16:00 with the final matches scheduled for 19:00 CET.

DAY 10 - PM
Click the image to view the large photograph - use "back" to return here. Van den Berg out of 9-ball
Roberto Bartol (CRO) upset the pool world at the Dynamic Billard European Championships in St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, by eliminating highly favored Nick van den Berg (NED) with 9:8 from the event in the round of the last 64 players.
Maybe it is a curse that lies on van den Berg when he plays against a Bartol. Two years ago, he lost to Roberto’s brother Michel in North Cyprus at the European Championships. Today, he went up highly favored against totally unheralded Roberto Bartol, the younger brother of the two. Things started out pretty promising fro van den Berg. After six racks, he was in front with 5:1 and it looked like a was in the park for van den Berg. But suddenly the tide turned in the match. Barton got the room of the balls and also improved his play immensely. He took the next five racks and went up on van den Berg with 6:5. Suddenly, the match was hot again. Barton was a real challenge for van den Berg. Being 7:6 in the lead, the Dutch Champion missed an 8-ball and instead of getting on the hill with 8:6, the match was tied at 7:7. All of that gave Bartol some wind underneath his wings. He played focussed and steady and went on the hill first with 8:7. Van den Berg needed a good roll and he got it. He tied the match at 8:8. Rack 17 was the decider. Barton committed no more mistakes and in the end won the match with 9:8. It can be stated that this victory is not undeserved at all. Barton consequently made use of the chances he was given and rightfully took the victory over van den Berg. Barton will face Denis Grabe (EST) in his next match in the round of the last 32 players. Grabe defeated Marco Teutscher (NED) 9:5.
Other remarkable results include Maximilian Lechner (AUT), one of the local players defeated BCA Hall of Famer Ralf Souquet (GER) 9:6. To the surprise of the audience, Lechner was fully in control of the match and Souquet struggled to find his rhythm. The match was very slow so the tournament direction decided impose a shot-clock on the match. Lechner got momentum first and ousted Souquet from the men’s 9-ball competition. He will be up next against Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP). Gabor Solymosi (HUN) won 9:5 over Jim Chawki (SWE) and is now in the round of the last 32 players where he will face Karol Skowerski (POL) as his next opponent. Albin Ouschan (AUT) just stayed alive in the 9-ball event, handing Kim Laaksonen (FIN) a 9:8 defeat. In the women’s division, Kristina Tkach (RUS) remained victorious with 7:6 over Katarzyna Wesolowska (POL). Tkach will be up against her teammate Nataliya Seroshtan (RUS) in the loser’s qualification round. In the wheelchair division, David Himpe (BEL) was able to win his match with Leszek Blumczynski (POL) 7:6.
The Dynamic Billard European Championships will continue tomorrow morning at 09:00 local time with matches in the last 16 single elimination 9-ball individuals.
The Austrian national TV station ORF will broadcast six hours LIVE from the event. The Championships are played on 24 tables which will all be streamed LIVE throughout the whole event. In order to be able to follow all the action LIVE, premium membership can be purchased at www.kozoom.com. Once a premium membership is held, all events for the respective period of time can be viewed LIVE. Additionally, a huge video gallery is contained in the website.
DAY 10 - AM
Click the image to view the full size poster - use "back" to return here. Czuprynska makes it to next winner’s round
At the Dynamic Billard European Championships for men, women and wheelchair athletes in St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) won her match against Eylul Kibaroglu (TUR) clearly with 7:1.
The 9-ball individuals continue today here in St. Johann. One interesting match was the encounter between Czuprynska and Kibaroglu. The Turkish can hardly bei evaluated. She has had several strong performances, but also played some weaker matches. If she was in top condition, she could have been a real danger for Czuprynska. But today was not Kibaroglu’s day. She committed unnecessary fouls, ran out of position quite some times and missed easy shots. Consequently, after six racks, she was trailing 0:6 when she was finally able to open her account with one point in order to not receive a whitewash from Czuprynska. The Polish however seemed to be on fire. She either cleared the rack or came up with good safety shots. Her performance together with today’s condition that Kibaroglu found herself in totally justified the high result of 7:1 in favor of Czuprynska in that match. She will be up next against in the winner’s qualification round against Melanie Suessenguth (GER) who defeated Tamara Peeters-Rademakers (NED) 7:3. Kibaroglu will need to find her rhythm and play better again. Her next match on the loser’s side will be against Peeters-Rademakers.
Other remarkable results from today include Berk Mehmetcik (TNC) winning over Jani Siekkinen (FIN) with 9:5 in loser’s round 1 of the men’s competition. In the same round, Chris Papageorgiou managed to eliminate Henrique Correia (POR) with 9:7. Artem Koshovyi (UKR) just made it in the loser’s qualification round over Dino Cerimagic (BIH). He took the match with 9:8 and booked a seat in the single elimination round of the final 64 men. He will be joined there by Jim Chawki (SWE) who ousted teammate Christian Sparrenloev-Fischer (SWE) 9:4 from the men’s 9-ball chart. In the wheelchair division, Emil Malinowski (POL) won 7:4 over Matt Duffy (GBR). David Himpe (BEL) took his match with 7:4 against Eduard Karamatic (CRO).
Today, the tournament continues with the 9-ball individuals.
