Have a look at this shot and see what you think? The thinking is that this shot is prob not makeable on todays simonis 860 but maybe on cloth such as the gorina used in the ipt. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-03-19 19:23 ]

A thin hit with left spin would do the trick. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: Shooter on 2007-03-19 22:31 ]

Shooter, I think you should try the shot and post a video of it on You Tube.
Would be awesome if it could be done!!

Shooter, you have the perfect answer it is a thin hit but firm with a ton of left english. The reckoning is that on the thicker cloth the ball would turn more. This shot is one that Vernon Elliott used to play as a bet. He has been seen to do this by "the beard", you may not have heard of Elliot but i'm sure you will have heard of Freddy. Vernon is a bank pool player who used to play for big bucks and is in the Bank pool hall of fame along side Freddy, Bugs Rucker and Eddie Taylor who are the most well known. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-03-20 01:04 ]

I couldn't resist the challenge Bruno so I tried it. I have to admit tho that I failed! I did manage to bank it to within a cigar paper, to the point of the pocket but that was the best effort from about 30 attempts. 4 or 5 times I banked it to within an inch or 2 of the pocket. As I have Simonis 860 on my table I am 100% sure that I could do it on a thicker cloth. I had to give up because my tip was going square! lol. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: Shooter on 2007-03-20 21:01 ]

Thats a shame mate. I'll have a go next time I'm at my local. I'll be lucky if I get it in the corner, never mind the side!

You're playing this shot totally wrong - You need to raise your cue and do a swerve shot to hit the frozen ball at quarter pass nine. The spin and angle of that contact will 'Shimmy' the object ball across the table into the opposite middle pocket. It should only take 3 or 4 attemps to achieve this shot, any more and you should lay off the booze for a bit.

It is indeed Joe Tucker showing off the laser sight and he makes the shot 3 in 4 and hangs up over the pocket the other time

I'd like to know which make of balls and cloth are being used in the video. This proves it is possible! I think I could do it with a little help like that. I'd like to see someone doing it freehand! ----------------- [ This message was edited by: Shooter on 2007-03-21 19:57 ]

Hey guys , I was hoping to find a video clip of Freddie 'The Beard' showing this shot also, but Joe Tucker is doing just as well Jon, I'm not sure what cloth he's using, but I imagine it would be simonis 860, but that's only a guess, the ball set he's using though are Brunswick Centennials, I had a set of them, but they're now at Club 9, they're a slightly better quality ball than the Super Aramith pro's and they also come in a TV edition, but are slightly heavier too, although not by much I hope that this helpsa little Willie

i had a go at this shot last night and it is a really hard shot, i only tried twice and got bored, it is possible i would say i just don't have the patience to try shots you aren't going to ever use, unless playing bank pool which i don't, it's an easier shot trying to bank it into top left pocket rather than left middle.
