I'm currently having a lot of fun buying bits and pieces to improve my cue lathe - I've got all sorts of "unnecessaries" like mini bench grinders, lights, hoovers, you name it, and I'm increasing the number and range of tips we offer too, but...

I'm getting a little bit stuck sourcing an affordable coffin-like box to install the lathe into, and transport the whole thing - a bit like that one from from Porper, you probably know the one I mean, like this...
LatheBox

Does anyone know where I can get a box similar to this (I'd actually prefer something where the lathe can remain attached to the rail at all times preferably) and obviously, it goes without saying, it should be affordably priced.

I wonder how hard it is to make a box like that... I guess the dove-tailing is a nightmare only to be undertaken by professionals really eh?

p.s. I found a box in a charity/junk shop for £5 so don't expect it to look pretty like that one up there - but it's very practical for now, and if it takes off I'll invest in something a bit tidier.

Are you offering a post-it-in tipping service? If not, can anyone recommend a qualified cue tech who can re-tip my 3rd gen Predator 314, preferably near the Manchester area?

Get someone to bring it to the GB9 event this weekend is the best idea.

Postage, insurance and postal tubes would make it a very expensive affair - and quite time consuming as well,

Come see us at Telford this weekend Mike - you'll see some great pool, and I've got a few accessories for you to buy too! ;)

I think sending it in, and travelling to/spending a day in Telford are almost comparable in the amount of cash it will deprive me of!

Thanks to everyone who made my first day fitting tips with my new lathe such a wonderful success - I know I was being a little bit cautious and careful, but I was "retipping" virtually non-stop all day from 9.00am until 2.00am the following morning - amazing!

I don't want to name drop ( much  ) but despite the trial by fire of the second job of the day being no less than Finnish superstar Mika Immonen's spare shaft, it was smooth sailing all the way to the last customer of the night... Estonia's Denis Grabe!

People were coming up and giving me a bunch of three shafts at a time, and some people weren't even playing in the tournament, but admitted they had come just to spectate and get their shafts retipped. I hope you're all very happy now - I know getting my tips done with a lathe was what I always yearned for when I was a player, and when I went to Dubai for work I took my cues with me because I knew I would be able to get them done there, and people were telling me they had done the same when they holidayed in the USA.

I actually had no time for lunch or dinner, and people know how much I like my food, but I honestly couldn't be happier, I loved every minute of it, and it was great to see people so pleased with the workmanship and I even got a couple of cash tips and a drink bought for me too!

Thank you so very much for making my new enterprise such a resounding success.

Lathe
Thanks to Lee Rigby for the photography - and to pizza for the double chin.

I'm not bragging, but I also made my own tip centering device, and it's awesome - OK... I AM bragging! hahhaha

There's a guy in the USA on *spits* eBay *spits* that is selling sets, but they're not cheap, postage is high, and you'll probably be hit for Import Tax before UK Customs release them to you - but they do look good. I'm PM'ing you the link.

"Just buy some Delrin Rod from these people..."

I don't have access to a lathe yet, so making them myself is not an option.

If anyone reading can make me a couple of 13mm collets I'd be happy to pay cash money for them!

You all know me, and how I don't like to name drop (much  ) but after his Quarter Final appearance at the World 9 Ball Championshops in Qatar, look who contacted me.

What a gentleman - he didn't have to contact me, but he did...

Let me know when you offer a mail-in service, Dave. Obviously be happy to pay for shipping both ways. Finding a cue doctor in Manchester is like trying to find rocking horse droppings! I'd do it myself by hand if it weren't for the V-Tek silencer pad (concerned I might screw it up!).
