Folks,

Just found this out from a few sources, anyone making the journey to Northampton that hasn't sorted a hotel yet, read on.....

You can book with the IBIS Hotel group and receive a discount for being part of a 'sports club or federation'!! Follow these instructions to get your discounted rate:

- go to http://www.ibishotel.com
- on the right hand menu you'll notice the header 'DISCOVER IBIS'. Click on 'Ibis & sports'
- scroll down this page and click 'Book your room at the Vitabis rate now!'
- enter Northampton as your hotel and fill out your room needs, making sure you click both boxes next to 'I am a member of a sports team' & 'I hereby declare that I am a member of a sports club or federation or a licensed professional athlete and am travelling to compete in a sporting event.'
- click ok
- a results page will appear, with the Ibis Northampton Centre hotel details. Click 'Rates' on the right hand side.
- a details & location page will appear, confirming the standard rate of £44.95 a night. Now for the clever bit!
- Click the 'Reservation' icon on the right hand side (top of page).
- Confirm your dates of stay & room needs, then in the additional info section, make sure that VITA is pre-entered into the preferential code section. Type it in if its not there. Click 'Ok'
- The Reservation summary page will appear and you'll be offered a room rate of £29.00! Happy days!!!
- Continue your booking as normal.

Now, they will ask you for a membership card or ID to prove your a member of a sports body when you try to check-in. If you bring your BPPPA membership certificate and a tournament flyer with you, they'll accept these and let you have the room and the reduced rate. No ID, no cheap room - seems fair!

If anyone has any probs booking or figuring out my instructions (i'm writing this on the verge of falling asleep!), drop me a PM and I'll do my best to help out.

Surgeon..

Cheers for that Surgeon, I've just cancelled the other hotel I had booked and changed to the Ibis one. Nice one ;-)

I just tried this for a room with 2 persons but it said special rates were not available. Best option was £39.95 per room per night if you chose the non-cancellable option so it's still a pretty good rate.

You have a better chance of speaking to President Bush than Ted.

He's just phoned, the IBIS Northampton is now full :-(
The website doesn't seem intelegent enough to say this when you try to book, it just comes back with 'sorry no hotel found'.

Ted's looking into securing the discounted Vitabis rate for all future events, so hopefully we'll all get a clear set of instructions & prices from IBIS next time round.

Apologies for any confusion.

I'm interested to know why the recommended hotel was the Premier Travel Inn when the ibis was a few yards away from Rileys and was cheaper?

Maybe it was because it cost £25 to park at the Ibis from Friday to Sunday :-(

Theres a trick to the parking. I noticed that it cost £25 for both days, but a lost ticket is only £10 :) throw the ticket away, and tell them u parked in the morning to go shopping but lost your ticket. then pay the £10 and go :D
