I didn't realise any tournaments played to those conditions anymore.

thats how the game used to be the rules of 9ball have always been one ball on the foot spot and you have to drive four balls to a rail on the break its always been good to watch. Its only since tapped tables the run outs for the top plyers have become so easy. It should go back to rack your own with a triangle and opponent checks the rack. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2010-09-22 21:34 ]

Maybe a useful link - we'll see! www.allfootballtv.com/china-open-9-ball-free-live-streaming-online-pool-2010-09-23/ Or maybe this one (I'm just making a note of potentially useful links at the moment - feel free to add others if you find anything. www.my147.com/video/display.php?id=2580 [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2010-09-23 08:40 ]

I disagree. The rules also say the balls should be racked tight but this was not possible on inferior equipment. The fact is that tour organisors such as Euro Tour and GB9 have solved the problem of the loose rack, thereby conforming to the rules of the game more closely than ever before. When playing in these perfect conditions (and I would argue you should always be aiming for perfect conditions just like in snooker) this has just highlighted what a joke the original rules were. So don't blame the tapping of tables for the fact 9 ball is a joke when played to the actual original rules. The game should stand up in it's own right when the conditions are perfect - not need the introduction of some dodgy equipment and 'magic fingers' from someone who's spent as much time learning how to leave the right gaps in the right places (i.e. cheat) as he has learning to clear the balls. From a personal point of view I don't particularly like the 3 point rule and the high rack either but until someone thinks of anything better it does the job. 10 ball is obviously the ultimate answer to the problem so I really hope this takes off and becomes the default game of the masses. Rant over.
