We have a new live scoring service for Blackpool so we hope this works much more effectively than it did previously. I've put a lot of effort into this and am very pleased with it but of course we remain dependant on the internet access at the venue. Fingers crossed! Cuesport TV are also providing extensive live stream coverage. As always Pro9 will be the first to report the stories form the event with the post event press release. We hope you all enjoy the second annual Paul Medati Trophy. Please keep this thread for all the comments and banter about the event but of course respect our sponsors The GB9 team are unlikely to post here because we are far too busy lol so if you need to contact us please contact us privately. Enjoy everyone.

I'm back at my desk at work a little tired reflecting on what was a very tough but enjoyable weekend for the GB9 team. Many congratulations Mark, Daryl & Ben, and also to James, & Shane for reaching their first finals. There are too many people to thank for putting these events on as it's a huge team effort and some of them are still there now finishing off so I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave their spare time to help make it happen. Also a big thank you to everyone who gave so generously to Macmillan Cancer Support and donated prizes. We'll post the final figure as soon as we've counted up. Now it's back to the day job for me... Big well done to all the GB9 Team once again - I knew from Lee there were some small technical issues here and there but it is a credit to you that they all went unnoticed (at least for me anyway). Congrats to Mark, Daryl and Ben on their wins. Does anyone remember the winning numbers from the raffle? Forgot to check my tickets before I left

I thought the tournament was great and definitely the best that I have played in to date, so congratulations to all on making it so. [ This message was edited by: The_Muse on 2010-04-26 15:06 ]

Got back a few hours ago and had to go straight to bed. Finally finished event breakdown at 3am. Many thanks to Martyn Royce and Geoff Windeatt who stayed to the death and of course to Paul Morgan and his son Lewis who had been at the venue since Thursday morning setting up and left after me this morning with a people carrier loaded to absolute maximum capacity with most of GB9's equipment! Your a legend Paul

Congrats to GB9 for putting on another fantastic event.
Big shout out too for Roy Kimberley for the shot of the weekend....I think he was 6-8 down to Melling and was hooked in the jaws at the bottom of the table - after potting a monster 8 ball length of the table - with only the 9 left on in the middle of the bottom rail. He kicked length of the table of top and side rails, made the edge of the 9 and got the cue ball safe. It was after Midnight on Saturday and there was a big, and rather loud, crowd watching - Roy got a huge ovation for a fantastic shot, it was a truly great moment...

That's exactly what the tour needs people shouting and going mad when someone plays a great shot. And it was an unreal shot IMO. You played great roy and I can see why u win a great deal of the wheelchair events. It was a nice match to be involved especially when the majority was screaming against me. I loved it. We need the asmosphere in our tour.at the end of the day we all play in loud pool clubs and learn to handle noise all around. Just look at darts.that never stop chanting

That report is possibly the best write up on a pool event I have ever read. I was there of course but I rarely get to see a full rack of pool let alone a match so it was a riveting read for me and I'm sure it will be for many others. What a great advertisement for our tour. Absolutely stunning work Ben.
It makes me very proud to see players embrace their tour like this and all pull together to make it work.

Cheers guys it was a fun match to play in, Chris was getting a lot of stick from his so called mates lol, but took it well. He’s a great player with a great temperament and I’m sure will be winning major events soon. As for the kick on the 9 Ball it’s one of them you play but never really expect to come off so when it did it was unreal. Had a real good weekend, well done to all the team for putting on another great event, looking forward to Daventry.

That match was actually electric (Roy & Chris) and Matt Hyden and myself actually stopped to watch the conclusion of that rack.
Another top quality write up from Mr Moore, as always.

Thanks chaps! A couple of silly grammatical errors in there plus I somehow missed Andy Barnett's name off of the Challenge report, but I'm going to try and forgive myself for those as it was a late finish on the Saturday night. In fact I was probably stashed away in my room writing when Roy played his 'shot of the tournament'. I'm wondering if he used the Jimmy Reid system that he kindly introduced me to a few years back?
Although I'm not as well travelled in pool terms as I'd like to be, the tournament was right up there as one of the best I've been to. Well done to every single person involved.
Oh, and there was a first time GB9 quarter finalist at this event too lol.

And.....quote of the weekend for me goes to Caroline Walch. Viewing from the balcony during the semi finals on Saturday, a Father took his two young children up to catch 5 minutes of the action. His little girl pressed herself against the railings and her dummy fell out of her mouth, nearly landing on table 2. Clearly embarrassed and full of apology, quick as a flash Caroline assured the Father with the line, "I wouldn't worry, the players spit their dummies out all the time!"
