after playin my first 8ball comp on american pool tables just wanted to say how brilliant it was, and really cant wait for next weekend.
for the first time i could actually feel quite relaxed going into the matches just knowing that your goin to come to the table with a chance, unlike 9ball where u might find yourself 3 or 4 nil down or maybe more, b4 you have screwed ya cues up, this game though is so different.
with this IPT and EPT i seriously think that the future of 9ball can be in great danger and possibly other q sports unless more billionaires come along.
not really sure why im posting this its just this feeling inside me and even though i did not win the fact is that i always had a chance and that is the one thing that stands out.
in 9ball you can be just out of position and recover or play safe 8ball though is different once you choose your pattern you really do have to clear up in that way.
sorry for making you read my thoughts but i urge all players to get involved and start playin american pool this really is the FUTURE!!!!!!!!!

Indiana, i think you have summed it up with your comments. I always thought that 9ball was the game that was gonna go through the roof, UNTIL i discovered american 8ball.....See you at the weekend for the EPT London open.....its gonna be an event full of big names and great players alike. -----------------

i couldn't agree more with richard, i only played 9 ball for a few years but this is like a breath of fresh air and i'm gutted i can't make the ept event. in 8ball if your dishing and you get out of shape it's much harder to get back on track. i think generally the better player will win at 8 ball but then some of the muppets like their random lucky win against a good player in 9ball! 8ball does seem the future in the uk definately as there is such a big english 8ball scene

A lot more thought needs to go into the game, that is the aspect I enjoy, it is a real challenge to learn the patterns.

Yes all the players enjoy playing it, me included. The problem is that to really make this last then non players need to like it too. But IMHO it is like watching paint dry on TV. I love my pool and couldn't even bring myself to watch all of the IPT coverage on offer. The jury is still out as far as the spectator is concerned.
Now strike me down!

I think that the introduction of 8 Ball in the UK was long overdue, we have been playing it in Spain for about 15 or 16 years now and 8 Ball is the basis of all our leagues and tournaments. 9 Ball has been the minority sport although the top players are playing it more and more simply because to compete with Europe it is obligatory.
