Where to start? Well I'll start off by saying this is undoubtedly my favourite EVER event to play in. With regards to team play I've only previously played in English Pool teams, which is generally a combination of singles fudging and lots of beer drinking. With the 3 man scotch to open then various combinations of scotch and singles mingled together in a best of 7 sets format this was a thrill from start to finish in terms of enjoyment and excitement.

To win it the way we did just makes it all the more fantastic. We had an absolutely brutal draw with all but one of what many considered to be the strongest sides, nestled together in the top half of the draw. My thoughts before the event were that the 2 strongest sides were Peach-Burford-Callaghan and Jones-Uzzell-Symons and we had to beat them both.

The win over Peach's team was sweet because they were playing awesome. Daryl was breaking great and playing great. I never saw Phil miss a ball all day. He assures me he did miss a few but I must have been looking the other way at the time. So for Singo to take a point off Phil in the singles was massive for us. Then it came to the crunch with Dynamite vs Peach - 2 of the worlds best players battling it out in our own back yard! Both played superb and in the end it just came down to who got a shot on the break. With Daz taking the point in that match too it made for what looked like a convincing win for our team on paper but of course it was a tough battle.

We gelled great as a team in that match so were confident going in to day 2 even though we were playing what looked to be the most complete side in the tournament with 3 very good players. Getting the first point on the board in the 3-man scotch again was significant and set us up for what would be a well deserved win to take us to the final.

The final was nervy and tense especially for Mark and me. We both felt very honoured to be playing in the same side as Daz and he'd spent so much effort guiding and encouraging us through the weekend we didn't want to let him down in the final.

My first major disappointment of the weekend came in the team scotch match where, at 4-4 and 3 balls left, I hit too low on a deep screw shot and scooped under the cue ball causing us to lose that vital first point. Then in the singles Mark had umpteen chances to put the match away and finally missed a ball he would pot 1000 times in a row in the club. So both of us at this point are feeling bad for Daz. Mark and me also had a gilt edged chance to take our scotch match but gifted it to the opposition by missing some crucial balls.

So the score was 3-1 down at this point when it could easily have been 4-0 to us and should absolutely definately have been 3-1 up. All was not lost though as I knew we had Daz to play in the singles then Daz and Mark in the scotch. If we won both of those it would come down to me and the dog and I just knew it was going to happen.

Who would believe it after 2 days of pool, about 60 matches played and it all came down to Dog v Bandit 2 lol. I'd learned so much this weekend from being in the side with Daz I now had a chance to put all those positive thoughts into practice.

There were so many reasons I had to win this match: 1. to make amends to Daz for me and Mark losing those vital points earlier, 2. I genuinely thought we played the best as a team all weekend and deserved to win it and 3. Well, lets just say there's a bit of history lol...

When you are playing in a team the pressure on every shot is tripled because you miss for 3 people not one. Also the rewards for winning are triple too. So with all the baggage going into this match I was properly feeling the pressure. I just used everything I've learned these past few months to play well and get through it and it capped off a brilliant weekend.

A massive thanks to my 2 pals. Singo played great, especially on Saturday when he was an absolute rock then picked himself up well in the final to win a key point with Daz after a big disappointment against Ben.

What can I say about Daz? There's no better tournament player in the world right now. But his was a team event and that's also where Daz excels because he's such a fantastic team player and captain. Words can't really sum up how much Mark and me learned this weekend and what a privilege it was to play in his team. He's an inspiration to me and I can't thank him enough.

Hard luck to Ben, Andy and Chris in the final. Very well done to Andy for organising a brilliant event in a brilliant venue. The tables and atmosphere were really great. Anyone who thought about entering this but changed their mind missed something very special indeed.

Now.... anyone seen Dixon?

great review Lee, watched the final on stream yesterday and it looked a great match. Your team did excellent to get back into it as it looked over at 3-1 with team dog having 3 brilliant players as well. I must admit i thought the Dog would have too much for you in the final game but you played really well and kept your nerve too. Well done team Barnsley but a superb well done to everyone involved specially Andy for organising a great event lets hope there is more to come.

only just noticed somewhere else that only 12 teams entered this and havin looked at he teams alot were local lads

is this correct or am i missing something,if so with all the players out there am suprised this didnt get filled

am shocked if its the case,possibly 3 or 4 teams could have won it imo,lookin at the teams entered

I think the 5 most dangerous teams were:
Lee Rigby, Darren Appleton, Mark Singleton
Shane Appleton, Arfan Dad, Jonny Cooper
Daryl Peach, Phil Burford, Louis Callaghan
Kevin Uzell, Richard Jones, Courtney Symons
Andy Appleton, Chris Hall, Ben Finch

4 of these were in the top half of the draw so despite only 12 teams turning up it was still very tough to win. It's a great shame more did not enter but I'm sure the success of this event along with a few lessons learned along the way will mean the next one will be very well supported.

Yes were a few lessons learnt for sure.
1. A live Draw

2. Dont Let Players Bring The Game Into Disrepute Or Bad Mouthing Any MMTV Event Any Issues Will Be Dealt With In The Correct Manner

3.Be Clear On All Rules Before Start Of Play
Has in the final both teams were playing slightly different rules, It clearly benifitted the winning team for sure, This wont happen again
Our team thought each player took a shot in team order ie player 1,2,3 so when a rack was over say player 1 potted the final ball it was players 2 turn next, And lees team played if our team broke off they could decide which of there players took the first shot then go in sequence, It worked really well for barnsley has darrens awesome play made sure they were in good shape to carry on the rack, So all in all a great competion and am sure the next one will be even bigger and better.

i am sure the next event will have more teams as people have seen how good a tournament it was and everyone i have spoken to have said how much they enjoyed it. Andy it was a great tournament to run and you are always going to learn from different things as you said the draw was done with plenty of people present and maybe it can still be done prior to the event and streamed live as you will have the cameras available by then anyway. Its not as if your not honest anyway you are trying to get what is best for your club and it is proving that people love playing at the club just looking at how quick the english amateurs is filling up for June.

ty mate nice words much appreciated, ive listen to peoples views some i will take on board some others already in the bin, But i would like to thank everyone for supporting my events and the club cheers guys.

keep up the good work randy,gutted i had to miss this event,never played in owt like this and playin for your team mates must add extra pressure,roll on the next one,everyone makes mistakes when startin out new with something,easily learnt from,always goin to get people moanin especially when theyve lost,seen and heard it all myself when havin the club

We played alternate break meaning when it was our turn to break we made sure each of our team broke on an alternating basis. There is no proviso for the non-breaking team to start in a specific order - you choose as a team who fancies the first shot. Yeah in every 9 ball, snooker, English pool doubles match ive ever played its always been the choice of the team who's shooting who plays the first shot. Ive never seen anything different to that.

Yes Mark, am sure Andy didn't intend it but it almost sounded as though he was saying we won because we had an unfair advantage over them in the final.

i was under the impression we was playing mosconi cup rules so scotch doubles is alternate break so everyone breaks.and incoming team can start of in any order they like.

actually with the team match we played to the same rules as scotch doubles as only 3 players.. but i think the rules are slightly different for the team match thinking about it now. the alternate breaks the same but the order different but not 100% sure on that..

final was a great match lot of drama your guys played good congrats

also well done to cuesporttv as always and yourself andy,also for bringing these great events to uk espeically in the north the standard improves everytime i come back home.

and finally well done to all the teams that competed and espeically my team lee and mark really impressed me sat and sunday we played great as a team and both guys showed alot of heart from 3-1 down in the final after both missing straight in shots in two of the matches to win points. they come back strong and showed heart and bottle when needed most thats what makes players champions.

and we had great wins over peach/burford/callaghan 4-1
and jones/uzzell/symmons 4-2

lee won 6/10
mark 6/11

both over 50% winning record in races to 5s with the draw we had thats really strong well done guys.
look forward to future team events

north v south would be great

st georges cup 6 players per team mixed between profesional and amatuers over 3 days that be awesome would think be easy to get sponsors for that.

And for the record lots of the players were told the draw would be done friday in the club, There were plenty of people present at the draw, And yes the game was brought into disrepute along with my integrety by a few players, Who then continued to go round the club moaning and back stabbing me at every oppertunity, So i do have the right to defend myself which i have asking for a re-draw was rediculous, It was done fair and above board, I can remember playing in your 10ball master event darren and lee did the draw at home also the pros were seeded, Not one of us amateurs were even told the draw had been done or there were to be players seeded we just got announced to the tables so how my event can get questioned is beyond me, All i can say in the future my events will have a live draw the time of the draw will be announced then any player can assist us or watch the draw live. ps roll on the next event ive got something very special in the pipeline.
