When somebody can't even reply to personal emails regarding a league that I have spent valuable money playing in then I will take offense. (If you don't then you are obviously very easily pleased).
It wouldn't have taken much planning to see that problems like these were bound to happen.

BFrench I don't mean to sound sarcastic but being all nicey nice obviously gets you know where here.

Wow. sign up as a new user, tell everyone you've sent messages!, when, as i thought before i checked, you havn't...

Did you stop to think that maybe the reason the leagues are not updated is because 2 clubs havn't handed in their results!.

dont hide behind a screen name and expect civility. you wanna make a complaint have the balls to email me or phone me.

Tone

ps: do you not think i would like it up to date as well, instead of chasing everyone.

I have emailed you and have had no response. Why not update with what you have and when other clubs hand in results just add it in? (This is not fair on players that have paid all entry money).

Tony this is not a personal attack on you. I understand that it might be hard to keep up with all the clubs but there are people that have paid all fees etc and want to see where they stand in the table (otherwise there is no point in even playing). The only answer I want to know at this time is to my previous question.

Its looking like an attack on Tony! Hardly a set of supportive emails is it!

You sound like an english 8ball player. I remember when i used to play on a tuesday night and if the tables weren't updated by lunchtime on Wednesday, all he11 would break loose on the forums slagging the league operators off.
Is it really that important to know where you are from week to week?
What are you going to do when the tables are frozen for the last few weeks of each 'season'?

Why can't people just be happy that someone is really trying to help those of us who play for the fun of it (or who don't have the time to play properly)

Hi Agentsoap

Ive been in touch with the clubs this morning and have now got all the results in. I will be updating the table this afternoon and it should be up on the site by 6 ish.

Whilst not of any help right now, this situation wont occur again as at the start of p2 there is a new system for recording results and payments and will mean the league table will be updated automatically.

Its amazing how many sycophants there are in pool. Someone starts a pool league and they are a martyr that a bad word cannot be heard off. My comments haven't been against Tony personally (credit to him for starting it up) but of the way it is being ran. Notice that how when something is said the tables are going to be updated.
When there is money involved it isn't for fun. Thankyou to Tony for getting the table updated.

Thanks for updating Tone. I'm amazed I'm Joint 6th! All that and that's with my game not being at it's best in every single game. Looks like the recent 14-3s and upturn in my game have helped me climb the table. :)

Morning All

Ive had a couple of emails from players querying there results. Whilst i am happy to look into them for you, please be aware that the only information that i have is that which is provided by the club.

And from an integrity point of view ONLY results from the managers will be accepted, which is why it is crucial that you fill out your sheets correctly sign them and hand them to the manager.

For those that emailed me this morning, i will speak to each manager concerned, please bear with me.

Cheers

Tone

Cheers Tone, much appreciated.

Also, I have another quick general question, in which there is no rush for a reply (i.e. stick to the important stuff in the short-term). Thought I'd post it here as others may know or be interested, and I don't want to badger you with more emails.

The prize structure etc is on the website but how are the divisions split? Is it simply "cut" at every 8th player or is there a more complicated formula? If it's the former, doesn't the 9th player win more than the 8th? And how are strong local leagues weighted against weak ones?

Thanks, but I knew that.

My first question was "what is a division" and how are they formed? At the moment we just have one big league. If it's one venue = one division, then why are the prize splits different on the website (i.e. Div 1 > than Div 10) and if they're simply split after every 8th player (i.e. 1-8 = Div 1, 9-16 = Div 2 and so on) then that would mean 9th would earn more than 8th. And if it's the top player in each venue goes to Div 1 and so on, then again some players may earn more money than players finishing above them.

It could do with being a little clearer on the website, but a quick response here would suffice and help most players I think, as considering the potential money involved it would be good to know.

The other half of my question related to how difficult leagues are weighted against each other. If they're not then I might get my mum and a few of her friends to enter at an obscure venue somewhere, go through the season winning 17-0 each week, and then claim the top prize :-)

Think the league is going to be split at end of first 12 weeks so you dont know if you are going to be top of league 2 or bottom of league 1 for the first season but i supposed its got to be split somehow in the first place!

Hi BT

With regards the prize structure, just had a thought.....as you mention the league will be split via 8-10 divisions as per the below from the webiste..

Division 1 = 35%

Division 2 = 16%

Division 3 = 12%

Division 4 = 10%

Division 5 = 8%

Division 6 = 6%

Division 7 = 5%

Division 8 = 4%

Division 9 = 3%

Division 10 = 2%

Whats yours or everyones thoughts around using the same % payout per player final standins in each division,

So if you finished top of division 1 you will get 35% of the 35% of the total payout, and if you finish 8th you get 4% of the total payout.....

This way your in with a chance of collecting something if you have a good season and work hard to get some good results......

Another thought was to hold a kind of finals day somewhere across the country (varied places to make it even) for the 8 divisions.....

This can be done in a quarter final scenario so all the 8 players (from what ever division) only play each other in that division and the winner and runner up get the prize....

The reason for this is that each club has a different standard of players and its difficult to compete with some clubs if you dont get to play them.....this way each player has an incentive to keep pushing and try to get into a higher/top position/divison and try to achieve an oppourtunity to still win some money, where as the min its kind of like a lottery.....

Plus you can have the excitement of travelling to a different club and playing players across the region.....

thoughts people?

P

Instead of just splitting the league into divisions like 1-8 (or whatever), then 9-16 and so on, which would suggest that somebody finishing 9th and playing in the same league as somebody finishing 3rd would actually win more money (which would be crazy), why not award the prizemoney proportionally to each venue depending upon how many people are playing there?

It would reward the venues/players who have tried to get more people to join up, incentivise others to do more next time, and is also fair because the larger leagues have actually paid more subs and thus contributed more to the pot. You could then split the prize money per venue along the lines of Paddymoffet's suggestion, so that the top 10 in each venue get something.

Maybe also award an overall prize to the top 2 or 3 in the national league as well or something, or hold an additional "finals night" as Paddymoffet has suggested for the top 8 or so.

Something along these lines would seem to be the fairest and prevent any inequalities. And it would be easy to admin so no extra burden (unless the finals night is done). I don't think too many people would argue with something like that.

My final suggestion on general format is around the fixtures list. Somebody else has suggested using a swiss system and that to me seems to be the best way of doing it.

There are 16 in my league and so we are not all going to play each other. There are 3 top players in the league, and I've looked at my final fixtures and I am going to avoid playing 2 of them at all, thankfully, whereas poor Shirley has played them 4 times, including the top-placed player twice! That cannot be fair whereas a swiss system would weed those sort of things out. It would also make the national league more credible and easier to split into divisions if you wanted to go down that route.
