I hope they keep the break rule for next year, much more interesting. Not sure what the players make of it? SVB seems to of had the most success

Yeah, stats on the break would be interesting. I wonder if that pool stats chap is doing them this year... I've no time to check at the moment. Maybe wait until afterwards to check.

Awesome win by Karl there, great run out under pressure!
But how can Earl get away with that kind of behaviour?

Just been part of an interesting discussion on Facebook. "Europe's dominance is bad for the event" surely if USA can win it every year between 1996 and 2001 we can have our time? Do you think it's been "boring" thoughts???

Exactly. They won 10 out of the first 12 mosconis, so why arent we allowed a long run of success? ----------------- Twitter: @Darren_Foord

Awsome performances all round from the European team, for me the break box did no one (Viewers included) any favours. I for one hope it is re evaluated before next years event.... I think it is time the pool world accepted that the US side, for the time being is so over matched it's scary! With the exception of SVB I don't think any of them would be close to getting in our team... Hopefully they can find some new talent to give us some problems next year!

The 5 - 0 lead after day one effectively ended things. Europe (imo) definitely had the better of the luck on the first day but backed it up with good play. Europe was never going to let that sort of lead slide with the talent that they possess and we all knew it, thus, it was a predictable if not boring Mosconi Cup this year! USA was under severe pressure and Europe had a strong lead and the luxury to relax somewhat. Predictably, USA fell apart and Europe picked up the pieces...
11 - 2 final score in a nutshell!
The break box meant that there wasn't enough B/R to get the general public interested. The players are so smart that 9-Ball is a bit of a broken game. Matchroom tried to make the break more unpredictable but it came at a cost, luck being a big factor.

I watch a alot of pool from the States and I gotta say that this years Mosconi Cup has got to be the biggest embarrassment for Americans at the highest level of professional sport. I love the yanks, I support the yanks but I was absolutely ashamed at the disgraceful behaviour of Strickland. How he has not been banned from our beloved sport is beyond me. Read the fallout on AZ billiards, they are calling it too a shameful disgrace - one of the worst examples of bad sportsmanship by a professional American sports team ever!!!
All I can say is I am humiliated and serious changes in the way American pool is managed, endorsed and administrated is seriously called for. Well done once again to the fine European team and Barry Hearn for being recognized in the US Poll Hall of Fame for his acheivements in presenting the game in his own brand through matchroom pool! Yet again the Europeans spearheaded by Darren and Karl have schooled the Americans on just how a cohesive and well represented in terms of exceptional team spirit and ettiquete a pool team should be. We no longer should be expected to grin and bare this type of behaviour in pool again. Everybody says that Earl has mental issues so we just have to except it! No no no. This wonderful sport is bigger than that and it no longer is going to be excepted by the likes of me.
Thank you for listening and in response to Matt's query about Earl's cue - he plays with a custom cue made by top cue maker Mike Gullhassey. Earl has become a lone pariah now - don't think a big corporate sponsor would have the nerve to endorse hm.

Agreed.
With 20 years of the current format under the belt why not make some changes? Maybe it should become a 3-Man team event and throw Asia in to the mix as a third team...

Apart from svb and Johnny the other 3 USA players could not master basic positional play That's why they had to play difficult shots as earl called them The euro team In the Main had good shape That was the difference [ This message was edited by: tigger147 on 2013-12-05 19:04 ]

Be interesting to know who wrote that. Most players up here have gone back to playing Marbles now, I can only think of 3 places that have 9-ball tables up here Barnsley, Cue Gardens and Melling's club ----------------- Matt Lester www.matthew-lester.com
