Hi fellow pool players, I'm new here, really like the site and discussions that take place here. Just wanted to start a discussion. I've got two questions. 1. Who is the best British pool player ever? 2. Who is the best British player right now? My opinion is (1) Steve Knight, he really took names when he came to the States and (2) I think Darren Applton is the hottest Brit right now, killing players all over the world! Just my 2 cents worth Enjoy! ----------------- "....I haven't missed since 1972" - Buddy Hall Playing cue - Jacoby with ob2 shaft Break cue - Predator BK2 [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2009-06-26 08:42 ]

many great players in uk right now but would've thought best ever 9 baller got to be daryl peach after all he did win world title and at the moment many players in good form like appleton but my favourite to watch when playing well and he's very consistent in every event is Mark Gray

I still think Steve Knight had a higher gear than Daryl Peach has. Man that guy could really shoot the lights out!
Knight at his best and Peach at his best, long race, whos taking down the cash?
I know who my money'd be on! That's why I think he's the best!

your entitled to your opinion as i am mine i agree knight was a top player for cash but to win the biggest event in world pool is etched in the record books forever and i daresay peach could do it for dough as knighty did but peach has something knight never will and thats title of world champ perhaps the post could be changed to who's the best money player and who's the best tournament player cause IMO there is a difference. i hope the 9ball world champs is resurrected so the world gets to see players like Mark Gray Craig Osborn and others that haven't had tv coverage to show the world what they and britain has to show

not ignorant at all mate, if you don't know them doesn't make you ignorant. Rising stars they are indeed Mark was euro number1 for best part of a year which is incredible when you see the talent europe has too offer and he was part of last years successful mosconi team and Craig has in his last 2 or 3 eoro tours has had a 3rd and 5th and currently stands 9th in the ranks. There are a lot more players in the uk who you might not've heard of but soon will IMO

Who in th UK right now are rising stars (feel this thread is changing direction!) as it's intersting to know there are players we haven't heard of Stateside, that are doing well in Britain. Maybe start a list of players who are hot right now? Would be nice to see that list! ----------------- "....I haven't missed since 1972" - Buddy Hall Playing cue - Jacoby with ob2 shaft Break cue - Predator BK2

1. Daryl Peach 2. Darren Appleton
1. Daryl because he won a world title with everyone of the big guns playing, nothing against what Daz did coz there were still 98% of the best players in the world playing. Steve Knight quit before i started so i havent got much knowledge about him

If we are talking about 9-Ball... 1. Daryl Peach / Steve Knight - When Steve was on his game he was awesome. Special mentions to Imran Majid and Tommy Donlon 2. Darren Appleton - Forget the UK, one if the best in the World right now.

Bigger break required, a lot more moving, and call shot game. If you're sayin Daryl Peach is the best because he won the WPC then you could say the same for Darren Appleton? BTW i'm not taking anything away from Daryl Peach, I think he's a great player, just having a friendly debate Also, let's get this list of rising stars going. Who's worthy to be on this list? ----------------- "....I haven't missed since 1972" - Buddy Hall Playing cue - Jacoby with ob2 shaft Break cue - Predator BK2

Really enjoying this read. I know Steve Davis enjoys playing the game and is a good player to boot. But I didn't know Ronnie played all that much? Does he play on the pool circuit in Britain? BTW who is pooliscool? Is that a nickname? Keep 'em coming guys! ----------------- "....I haven't missed since 1972" - Buddy Hall Playing cue - Jacoby with ob2 shaft Break cue - Predator BK2
