Looking at the rankings, I have a feeling Mark has managed to hang onto the No. 1 spot from Bruno by 5 points...only quick math though?

Yes, you are not so "Crazy" Cue, you got it just right.
Mark stays in 1st place by 5 points from Bruno..

Imran slips 5 spots to 7th place,
Daz moves up 1 to 8th
    Tony stays put in 11th
Boyzi slips down 3 places to 17th
Dazzler drops 4 to 21st and
    Jonni stays in 26th

Big jump of the week was Ralf the "Kaiser" who moves up 14 places to 6th

That's it for this week pop pickers !!!!

    Thanks Malaguista,

Does this mean Mark will be in the Mosconi now as finishing No. 1 after Weert?

If so, those 5 points were massive for him!!!!!!!

Earlier this year EPBF sent out a note telling how to qualify for different WPA events.

    For Mosconi Cup it says:

    "Matchroom nominates as follows:
    - Nr. 1 ranked player on the European Ranking after the Eurotour Dynamic Netherlands Open 2008
    - 3 players out of the European Ranking - ranked within first 16
    - 1 player chosen by Matchroom"

It looks like Mark Gray is in!
So is Tony Drago, guess he is the 1 player chosen by Matchroom already.

Then 3 more players. By the rules they have stated here then Daryl Peach or Konstantin Stepanov will not be able to play, since they are not top 16? Could this be true?

I think Matchroom will pick these 4, but who will be nr 5?:

    Mark Gray
    Tony Drago
    Ralf Souquet
    Niels Feijen

    I hope not Jaymo! lol.

    Rules are:

    Eurotour No1.
    2 players from top16 Eurotour.
    2 players from anywhere.

    ...thats it !!!

It would be a strong looking team if it were:

Tony Drago     Predator International 10ball Champion
    Mark Gray        Eurotour Number1 player
Daryl Peach     World 9ball pool Champion
Ralf Souquet    World 8ball pool Champion
Niels Feijen     World Straight pool Champion

That would be my picks (for obvious reasons)

Also it keeps virtually the same winning team as last year.

We should just wait and see what happens i guess.

fingers x ed for you daryl that looks a very strong team to me but in all honesty europe could pick 3 or 4 strong sides such is the quality of the europeans so good luck for all hoping to get the nod but my bias is towards the world champ for 5th spot :-)

i know earlier i said if picking a brit i said imran or darren but i meant them if it gets picked from the rankings and b4 anyone writes and asks do i not want either of these 2 i,d be just as pleased with them in the team who wouldn,t they are both top notch pool players who,d be an asset to any mosconi team and i,m sure that one day imran & darren will both be picked

Where did you get the rule about 2 players from not top 16? Has EBPF changed the rules?

I think the team Daryl put up is more than enough to beat the Americans this year. America has 2 strong players this year, and that is Johnny Archer and Shane Van Boening, with Johnny as nr 1. Shane not as hot as last year, and Corey, Earl etc not performing as good as you would expect.

Roy, i didnt say "Not from top16"

Its just that 2 players can be picked from anywhere....they may happen to be in the top16 but its not essential that they are.

    Hope i cleared this up.

I understood that they obviously could be picked from top 16, but I didn't know that they could pick people outside top 16.

Atleast they couldn't if they followed the rules they sent out earlier this year, stating how the spots would be nominated.

Please read the statement from EPBF here.
    http://ddbu.dk/pool/uploadede/How%20to%20qualify%20for%20WPA%20Events.pdf

When EPBF send out rules like this it is after players have demanded rules, so they know how to qualify for events. If EPBF have changed that, I would like to know the reason why.

No bashing on you Daryl, I like the team you picked and I think it will win.

I am just interested in knowing why and when EPBF changed the rules, and if people think it is ok to change them? What about other tournaments - is it ok to change the rules mid-season there also?

Don't know where you got your rules from Dazzler, Roy got it right, the official rules at the moment are:

No 1 on Eurotour Ranking After Dutch Eurotour 2008
plus 3 Players from top 16 of Euro Ranking
plus 1 player chosen by Matchroom

Presumably you could argue that the three from top 16 of Eurotour could include the no 1 but that is not how it is written

i have to agree with Daryl

Drago would not nessaceraly be picked as the wildcard picked by matchroom, as he is still in the top 16 of the eurotour and could be branched under that. Gray is automatically there as euro no.1, souquet and feijen are both in top 16 and Peach is reigning champ could be picked as wild card (also he has never lost a mosconi cup so the good luck factor is there also)

    So

    Gray = Euro no.1
    Drago = World 10 ball champ & Euro no.11
    Souquet = World 8 ball champ & Euro no.6
Feijen = World straight pool champ & Euro top 16 (sorry dont know his ranking yet)
Peach = World 9 ball champ & Wild card.

Does anybody know if the WPC is still going ahead as this would affect the outcome of the wild card, as last time daryl got it for finishing the furthest in the WPC.

Also it would be a shame to leave imran out as he has had a phenominal year on GB 9 and taking a bronze in the EC. as well as being in the top 16 of the eurotour.

The good thing is that the europeans are spoiled for choice where we all know who the americans will pick

    COME ON TEAM EUROPE!!!
