Good luck to all the European's in Pattaya this weekend, loads of "our boys" to be rooting for... Including Pro9'ers Darren Appleton, Chris Melling, David Walsh, and Bobby Lee Chenman, and I know a lot of people are friend's with France's Yannick Beaufils too! It's going to be a big ask, with all the celebrity Filipinos like Ronnie Alcano, Efren Reyes, Lee Van Corteza and Dennis Orcollo in the mix... There's also the winner of the recent China Open, Taiwan's "Chang Yu Long" in the mix! The Pro9 article is here: www.pro9.co.uk/html/article.php?sid=1408Can anyone pick a winner? Who are you rooting for? ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Not me, I'm guessing they are talented ex-pats living in Thailand, in fact a little research shows that Oliver is a pool room operator in Thailand.
Oliver Downey (Great Britain) - SANGSOM Chiangmai 9-Ball Pool Open 2009 Winner
Oliver also plays on the CAT Thailand 9ball Pool Ranking Circuit (which I HAVE heard of before).
Kevin Fortt appears to be a decent snooker player who also plays on Thailand's CAT tour.
(I'm not 100% sure if this tour is still running, I haven't heard anything about it for a good while).

My pick of the players to win are either:- Efren Ronnie Darren Appleton Dennis Orcollo Btw, who the the devils playground is "Ruairi McCarroll (Republic Of Ireland)"?.... I've never heard of him and I'm pretty sure he's not played on the IAPPT yet Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2010-09-30 16:30 ]

mmmmm Pataya, i love the place; i stayed there for a month 7 years ago. I played alot of snooker in a little shopping precinct there. I played a local at 6 red snooker for money - his skill at 6 red snooker (safetywise was brilliant) and he punished me like a petulent child........so i suggest 15 red snooker - he rarely played the game in th full form and was very lax in his safety............i made a ton in the first game and took his wages off him
happy days
there is also little irish bar over there that has a standing challenge on their pool tables - you pay the equivelent of a tenner to attempt to pot the lot (15 pool balls) leaving the black till last - if you do, you win a hundred notes............i had 2 goes and won 200 smackers; they stopped me after that .....LOL

Live streaming video is available from this event... It starts a bit slow and jumpy, but give it a chance and it smooths out lovely... Commentary is in Thai, but Efren is playing his first match right now! http://www.pattaya9ball.com/online/index.htmlHopefully we'll see our guys playing later too! If we all keep an eye open for it, and post here when you see them please? [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2010-10-01 09:20 ]

Just refreshed the page and now there is a 3 table set up with Chris Melling closest to the camera either practicing or there are other games going on in a other room.

I've got it, Chris won 9:7 in his pre-lim. I'm updating all first round (Last 32) match scores in the article now.
