... that if Mr Peach carries on the way he is. He will be back in the Mosconi team where he belongs?

I certainly hope so anyway!

Ive been thnking that. He's playing very well but can he be the best UK player this year? Its between him and Hundal for a spot i reckon (Dont think two brits make it but who knows) or it could be Steve Davis because he is Steve Davis!

However someone who HAS to be in the Mosconi this year is Ralf Souqet. He's won the derby city classic and the interpool open this year. Second in the Euro champs of straight pool and going strong in the nine ball competition - The year has just started aswell! Why he was left out of the last two Mosconi's god only knows but in 2006, in his home country Germany Ralf should be in the team!

By the way if my Steve Davis line sounds like a pop at him it isnt....I mean it in the way Steve is such a legend that that may get him in.

I hope Davis comes back this year!

Totally agree about Ralf Souquet. The Kaiser has been in magnificent form this season. It would be great to see Ralf, Daryl and Steve Davis turn out for Team Europe this year.

Guys, I gotta say this and this is in no way a pop at Steve because like you say Dazza he is a legend, but I personally think that to have a successful Mosconi Cup team, you gotta forget about who the legends are and select the players who are playing the best, who have the most knowledge of the game and who are also the most consistent :)

For me, I would be picking, Ralf Souquet, Oliver Ortman (Capt'n), Mika Immonen, Niels Fejin/Nick Van Den Berg, Dazzler/Hitman and Thorsten Hohman and Marcu Chamat :)

That would be my choice, but then again, there are a few other options there, but no matter what, Ralf and Oliver have got to be there on the team as well as The Iceman :)

I look forward to your thoughts on this guys :)

Take care everyone :)

Willie

For me Nick Van Den berg would be one of the first players down on my list. It is an outrage that both Nick and Souquet were left out of the European team, arguably Europes two best players! Could you imagine the USA leaving out Rodney Morris and Earl Strickland, dont think so! I have always said in past forum topics that Daryl should definately be in the Mosconi Cup team but I would have Steve Davis as the second englishman over Raj Hundal. What about Ronnie O'Sullivan or Tony Drago?

I meant Tony to be in the squad in his own right, not as an Englishman. I know he's Maltese and a great player deserved of a place in the team.

I could talk about the Mosconi all day everyday. So, this thread seems something for me to get my teeth into.

I cant pick 6 players to make the team but here is my shortlist. Ten players and you need six, its a hard thing to do but the ones with a hash next to them are my current team...

Ortmann.
Souqet. #
Hohmann. #
Feijen #
Van den Berg
Davis
Peach #
Hundal
Chamat #
Immonen #

Its scary to think ive left of Van den berg and Ortmann but we have so many good players its hard to pick. Glad im not a selector!

My team would be:

Souquet
Van Den Berg
Ortmann
Immonen
Peach
O'Sullivan/Feijen

Other players who aren't as obvious but maybe deserve a chance are: Christian Reimering, Andreas Roschowski, Imran Majid

one person I would definately leave out would be Alex Lely. I think they should pick four players then make up a shortlist of 16 and play a tournament to decide the remaining two players.

I havent the heart to drop Chamat and Hohmann...Hohmann is my favourite player and Chamat is great fun. Thats why im glad im not a Mosconoi selector.

Speaking of 'wild cards' what about Nicolas Otterman and Fabio Petroni. Cant see it happening but wild cards.

I dont think Otterman is quite ready for the big stage, Petroni is ready but has the reputation of twitching against good players and in key matches.

I wouldn't entertain the thought of Ronnie Osulivan playing the Mosconi Cup, not because he's a snooker player or anything like that and the guy is a great player, there's no doubt about that, but I feel that to win at 9 ball, you gotta have 6 players who play the game all the time, who know the ins and outs of the game and who have the experience against the guys on the US team :)

I feel that I have gotta agree with Dazzler's or Shir's choices to me as a pool player, I would be much happier that guys who have the most experience, ability and knowledge of the game to be playing for the European team, but they also gotta be playing pretty darn good too and Dazzler seems to be doing just that right now :)

I look forward to hearing your thoughts though guys as it is something that should be debated about with the selectors for the team also :)

Take care everyone :)

Willie

I suggested Ronnie O'Sullivan because we all know he can cope wth the pressure of performing at the highest level on the biggest stage. Playing the Americans wont phase him at all and he has shown at the Weert Open that he is a great pool player even if it is only one event (he beat a lot of top players there). He would also be a good selection from a commercial point of view, just like Davis but I feel Ronnie would be a better player to have.
