Lol gotta love Raj signing off as World Pool Masters Champion :) Some of us weren't even born when he tweaked his way through that field!

What, you weren't born in 2005?

So what do you want him to put?

"Former" World Pool Masters Champion?

2005 World Pool Masters Champion?

Big difference? He's not saying "Reigning World Pool Masters Champion" is he? And it's certainly the biggest event he's won so far, so live and let live OK? You think he was nervous? I bet he was, as the youngest ever winner of the title.

Only 7 forum posts by you, and half of them appear to be baiting people already... It's not like that here! We're a supportive community of people with a similar interest in pool.... Spineless cowards who snipe anonymously on the internet are not welcome here.

I invited (read "begged") him to post here because he could give us the inside track on what's happening in Spain... How dare you? You coward!

Back on topic... Here's a photo I've pinched so you can see the sort of tent structure being used at the Predator World 10 Ball Tour event in Spain.

Thanks for the good luck wishes Dazzel, appreciate it mate and once again thanks Big Dave for the respect and more power to you i say..btw my nerves were fine as you can all see in the final of the event in the video posted on my website....plus winning a World Title is difficult anyway which way, specially when you have to break the balls at speed as they are not tapped in and a cut break is not in play..Anyway my match and everyone elses has been postponed as the marque we were playing in has blown down as the winds were gale force last night(i know it sounds funny but really it isn't)....lol....so now we are waiting for the new times as tables have to be set up in the hotel lobby and bar....i could imagine problems with the lighting etc but am hoping they can get it right. We all agreed to play up to the last 16 and then we will play the final 16 at the next event. Guess mother nature can be a biatch when she wants to be. Il try my best to get back on here later with an update of the situation and some results.

Promoters Adapt to Severe Weather Challenges
By Cristina De La Garza

Lloret enjoyed warm swimming weather just one week ago but now finds itself victim of a major winter storm covering all of Europe. The Predator World Tour first felt the effects of the storm 2 days ago when many of the UK players were sent home from the airport due to flight cancellations after waiting in terminals for most of the day. Airport closing and flight cancellations are being felt throughout Europe, primarily in the UK, Germany and France.

After play was suspended early on day 1 due to severe weather obstructing playing conditions, tournament directors and players hoped for better weather for day 2. Their wishes were not met and an overnight storm with high winds caused structural damage to many buildings in Lloret including the tournament location. The original tournament arena was unfit for play as several tables were ruined by the collapse and tournament promoters were forced to make tough decisions.

After a long deliberation and brainstorming of alternate options, promoters offered the players a commendable solution. Tables are being moved to the ballroom of the Guitart Grand Hotel Monterrey which is the host hotel for many of the players this week in Lloret and play will resume this afternoon. Due to time constraints of delayed matches, this tournament will only play down to the final 16 players. At the next Predator World Tour event, they will play out the rest of the tournament as well as the next tournament with a 64 player field. Travel costs including airfare and hotel for the next Predator World Tour event will be covered by the promoters for the final 16 players. The tournament format including the length of races and payout structure will remain the same and those finishing 17th-32nd will be paid as scheduled. As originally promised, the finals of this event will still be broadcasted on ESPN Star and EuroSport but will be filmed with the next event that is tentatively scheduled for Brazil in the Summer of 2010.

All parties involved seemed excited about the new venue and the promoters’ willingness to make the tournament worthwhile for the players. This event drew a record setting field of American players as it was the first time in 10 years that a European tournament fielded more than 10 American players. Johnny Archer has not attended a tournament here since the 1999 World Championships in Cardiff but was very happy with the offered solution. “Promoters could have taken the easy road out and cancelled the tournament promising to make things up to the players. But I think they will get more credit from the players than they could ever imagine by choosing to continue the tournament given the severe conditions. I think everyone should support what they are doing and help them in whatever they need.”

Predator CEO, Karim Belhaj expressed his gratitude during the emergency players meeting on the morning of day 2 “The attitude of the players has been very helpful. We appreciate your support, flexibility and commitment to the tour’s success.”

Americans Lead as Sixteen Winners Advance
by Cristina De La Garza

The sixteen winners still in contention for the Predator World Tour Spain event have earned free hotel and airfare for the next Predator World Tour event which is tentatively scheduled for Sao Paolo, Brazil in the summer of 2010. Eight countries will be represented in the final stage of the tournament that began in Lloret de Mar, Spain but the Americans out number them all. Six players will make the trip from the USA to the next event to fight for the title with players from Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Afghanistan, Mexico, Spain and the Philippines.

Still on the hunt for his second Predator World Tour title, David Alcaide had an impressive showing in his home country. After suffering a first round loss, Alcaide came back strong with several wins to secure his spot in the final sixteen. World Champion, Mika Immonen, dominated tournaments throughout 2009 but had a disappointing finish in his first event of 2010 as he was eliminated by Mexico’s Ernesto Dominguez and settled for 17th – 32nd.

The support from players was overwhelming and everyone in attendance was flexible in meeting the unforeseen challenges that were presented. “I would like to thank the organization because I think it has been very generous of them to propose this new prize for 16 players and give us a chance to complete the tournament in Brazil. I wasn’t planning on going to that event but now I’m excited that I get to play two events there,” noted Huidji See of the Netherlands who defeated France’s Stephan Cohen in the last elimination round.

Final 16 Players (in order of bracket placement)
Corey Deuel (USA)
Marcus Chamat (Sweden)
Rodney Morris (USA)
Thorsten Hohmann (Germany)
Niels Feijen (Netherlands)
Henrique Correia (Portugal)
Aziz Hamrah (Afghanistan)
Johnny Archer (USA)
Ernesto Dominguez (Mexico)
David Alcaide (Spain)
Huidji See (Netherlands)
Oliver Ortmann (Germany)
Tony Crosby (USA)
Steve Moore (USA)
Charlie Williams (USA)
Lee Van Corteza (Philippines)

17th – 32nd
David Alcoberro (Spain)
Fernando Bohorquez (Spain)
Noel Bruynooghe (Belgium)
Carlos Cabello (Spain)
Stephan Cohen (France)
James Davis Jr. (USA)
Jeffrey De Luna (Philippines)
Francisco Diaz (Spain)
Oscar Dominguez (USA)
Vincent Faquet (France)
Corey Harper (USA)
Raul Hebles (Spain)
Mika Immonen (Finland)
Nuno Santos (Portugal)
Jayson Shaw (Scotland)
Mike Sigel (USA)

Can´t add much to what has already been said, the tournament was hit by bad luck, it wasn´t supposed to be held in they tent which, if it hadn´t rained would have been ok. The original venue was a new construction which wasn´t finished on time so it was a last minute decision to put it in the marquee. As I understand it the only alternative was to cancel. The storms hit us unexpectedly and when I arrived on Thursday afternoon it was to see some tables covered in plastic and players playing with jackets and jumpers on.
The organisers presented the players with the option that has already mentioned, 8 Tables were quickly set up in one of the hotels and play recommenced at 7 15 pm on Friday, games went on well into the night and continued on Saturday.
As Raj said the hotel he was staying in was first class and five stars but the downside was that the stars affected the prices. A Heineken in the bar cost 5.50 euros while a coke cost 3.50 euros. Compare that to the 2 euros per pint in the hotel used for the Eurotour in December.
However, we all know that the superstars of pool are rolling in it so it wouldnt have bothered them but it certainly bothered this pensioner.
I was foolish enough to eat lunch in the restaurant on Friday without asking the price of a simple 3 course meal, Soup, bit of braised meat with pureed potatoes and a cream caramel, all washed down with a bottle of water. Price... 32 euros.

Anyway, congratulations to the organisers for saving the tournament after the disaster that hit them and for adding the extra prizes of frre trips to Sao Paolo for the top 16.

Pleased to see Tony get through. Glad to see Sigel didn´t.

I was watching Feijen playing De Luna and on th etable next to them was Sigel playing Japanese player. Akagariyama. SIgel who can´t keep his mouth shut as usual was annoying the whole room with his constant chatter while he was playing, was 4 - 0 up. While he was racking the balls, his opponent, who doesn´t speak English indicated to Mike that he needed to go for a break. Sigel who has gone down in my estimation, waited until the lad had gone out of the room, then went up to the tournament desk to complain that his opponent had gone for a toilet break when it was his (Sigel´s) break and asked them to dock the Japànese player 1 rack as a punishment.
For some reason they complied with Sigel´s demand and when Akagariyama came back,. he found he was 5-0 down.
Good job, Sigel !!!!!

Wondered what all that was about, think that match went hill hill eventually. Sigel seemed very animated, not showing much consideration for the players on the next table, having said that , the tables looked very close together. Still, good to see him there.

PRO9s members range from professional pool players, cue-sports enthusiasts, club managers, tournament organisers, pool fans and aficionados, as well as various "movers and shakers" in the cue-sports field, including entrepreneurs in the wholesale and retail sector, as well as magazine editors and television sports promoters.
Growing more and more popular every single year, PRO9 is the best placed vehicle for the promotion of your pool club, billiards brand, associated products, services and opportunities in the truly massive pan-European billiard market.
