The 9 ball international tournament which has been incorporated into the Spanish Championships for the first time kicks off today (Friday) at 6 pm local time.
Several top players from England have come over and are looking to take home the 6000 euros first prize.
Tony Drago and Imran Majid who have spent the last few days here giving an exhibition of snooker are joined by Daryl Peach, Andy Worthington, James Kay, Brett Armer, Simon D'Vali. We are also happy to see top 8 ball players Daz Appleton, Mick Hill, Shane Appleton, Lee Rigby, Shane Appleton and Dave Wright.
This results from this event will be posted on the web as they happen.
Click on this link CEP and then click on the orange panel advertising Sevilla 2006, then on the panel on the left Resultados - Individuales.
Next on the panel in the centre scroll down to : Open Bola 9 2ª Fase Grupo A, Grupo B etc.

More than 1500 photos are also on the web and can be seen at: CEP
Then click on the blue button at the top Images, then nueva galeria and then Campeonato Sevilla 2006

They are playing the final phase as we speak,
The last 32 started 1 hour ago.
Drago won his first match against Nick Wollerton 8/4.
Spanish favourite just lost 8/4 to Malaga player Jose Luis Liebana.
Majid is 5/4 up to Catalan player Albert Caselles in a race to 8.
8 Brits + Tony Drago made it to the last 32.
More results as they happen.

Imran lost 6-10 to Carlos Cabello and in the other semi-final David Alcobero beat Jose Luis Liebana 10-9 so the final is an all Spanish affair.
The brits in general did pretty well, more details and photos mañana if I get time.
Thanks for the kind words Simon, good to meet you.

Malaguista will be able to furnish you with all the details you'll need, he's just finishing the running of the billiards/snooker/pool side of the 2006 Seville Games this week and he'll be here to help as soon as he's had a moments sleep!

How nice to live in Spain, will you be working there?

Lucky you! :D

Wow, what a great time we had in Spain!!

The event as you can see from the article was spectacular. Tables were excellent albiet a bit tight but they ran very well, the spectators could see everything with the stadium style seating and most important......air conditioning!!!! Moreover, the organisation was second to none. There were full draw tables of each group with a match time and table number next to your name. It meant you could plan your day around your match times. You turned up, took your score sheet from a box by the top table that corresponded with your table number and played pool. Then you hit a bar (the Brits did anyway :-D ).

Big up to all the Brits who went, it was a good show by us overall. I would have liked to have done a little more damage myself but I was pleased with my win and my overall performance.

Special big up to Peter Aprile (Malaguista) and his lovely wife for their hospitality and organisation skills. We look forward to the next event!

Si

We got there wednesday and i didnt get to play until Saturday at 6.30pm, and then was playing at 12am to qualify!...and there were NO practice facilities...not even a club for miles around! I had problems with the fact that they had half the tables covered with Gorina cloth and the other half in Simonis cloth, they also had half the tables with the pro TV cup balls and the other half with something else that reminded me of club balls, both these factors made the tables play totally different.

It was ok if you got to play all your matches with the same conditions, but if you didnt then it was impossible to get anywhere near consistent.

I thought for such a good venue they would have had the air con working too!

Apart from that it was great! hahahahaha
