Im a very handy darts player and have thrown an 11 dart leg & countless 180's, my 2 cents is I think they are both as difficult in equal measure, there is the point made earlier that a 147 requires more visits & time but this is offset by the fact that loss of position does not mean end of 147, one loss of position on a 9 dart attempt and the chance is gone.

I was originally a darts player until I got the dreaded "dartitis" which made me take up snooker and then american pool. I have played darts for years and have never seen a 9 darter (I got the first 7 darts once!). However within a few years of playing snooker I have seen 8 or 10 147s made by players and think there are probably 147s knocked in every day, but I doubt if there are many 9 darters, even at county or super league level. However I was not that good at snooker (I think the closest I ever got was 96) so I suppose it could be classed as equally difficult. The only reason there are more 9 darters these days is mainly down to the great Phil Taylor who has dominated and lifted the standard of darts immensely. But my opinion is the 9 darter is much harder to achieve.

I was going to say, a 147 takes more concentration as it takes much longer. but the speed ronnie hits them in has thrown that out of the water lol

Maybe we could put Ronnie and Phil in a room togethere for 2 days just throwing and potting none stop.
see who gets the most.
I'd say Ronnie would get more 147's

Don't forget that a 147 on a club table is definitely not the same beast as a 147 on a tight match table! How about you do the proper maths... simple.. you just need to know how many snooker players there are and do :
number of 147s divided by total number of snooker players
and compare that to
number of 9 darters divided by total number of dart players
Though I'm not sure what level of players should count, perhaps we can discuss that too... could start with professional level players, i.e. anyone who's had a century in snooker or a 12 dart (?) finish in darts. It's always hard to say which one is more difficult unless you take into account the number of people trying to achieve it. Perhaps there are thousands of professional level dart players which would make the 9 darter the king, but I'd prefer to see the 147 take it!
Would be fairly simple to get the decisive answer to the debate though. With a little research and some clear definitions of which players to count, the maths will tell you which is more difficult.

but then you could argue the time it takes to do a 147 and time it takes to get a 9 darter.... got to be a considerable amount of time difference on average.
I got two 180's in a row once on a practise board. The trebles are like 3mm in height lol.

Ok what about a hole in one? I heard a story about a bloke who got a hole in one. He put his golf clubs away and said, 'That's it I'm quitting, what more can you do. You can't beat perfection.'
You would agree with that, apart from the fact he still finished 12 over par!

i think a hole in one is pretty much luck every time. as you never aim for the hole when teeing off or over a certain amount of yards away.
