Third time is the "charm" as Boyes wins EuroTour final!
Karl Boyes couldn't be happier with his 9-ball victory in beautiful Austria as he finally cracked his duck after previously having to settle for the runner's-up medal twice this season. And what an event to win, as there was nothing but complements coming from the players about the tournament as the Euro Tour paid a visit to Sankt Johann for the Austrian Open. The wonderful Alpina Sporthotel was the perfect venue for this impressive event and the stunning location and superb facilities made this the new favourite player's venue.

Francisco Bustamante Wins World Crown
Francisco Bustamante has finally put the demons from the past to rest and has won a world championship. He defeated Kuo Po-cheng of Taiwan today 13-7 at the World Pool Championships in Doha, Qatar to finally be known no longer as the finest player not to have won a World Title.
To truly appreciate the significance of this feat you must go back to 2002 when Bustmante also played in the finals of the WPC against Earl Strickland. The evening prior to the final match word came from Manila that Bustamante daughter had taken ill and died. Bustamante, crushed, was told that he need not play the final, that all would understand. He considered this, but his wife somehow reached him and convinced him that their child would have wanted him to continue the fight.

Two New International Pocket Billiard Events Announced for 2011
WPA President Ian Anderson today announced the successful conclusion of discussions with organizers in the Middle East that have resulted in the creation of two new International WPA Ranking events.
In the Spring of 2011 the new Dubai Open will mark its initiation and then later in the year the Emir Cup will be played in Doha, Qatar. These two new events highlight the surge in popularity that the game of pocket billiards enjoys in the region.

When I was a kid, my dad always encouraged me to play as many sports as possible, whether it was Snooker, or Cricket, I was always involved and enjoyed every minute. I think this must have been where I got my love for competing, which I think is something you need to be a real success in sports. Now-a-days, even if I'm in the pub with friends playing darts, or anything where competing is involved, I always want to win with a passion. It doesn’t matter who I'm playing against, it might even be my Dad, but I always want to win. It's something that I am very passionate about, and very proud of, and I have my Dad to thank for this."

Pool… Now that’s always been a massive part of my life.
I’ve loved it and hated it with equal passion over the years… and hate is a very strong word. Loathed it in fact.

The break shot brings the whole darn game to life. Depending on the conditions, a hard break or a cut break opens the rack and good cue ball control sets you up to with a roadmap through “life”. Morris and Archer Aim for US Win No.2
WITH THE PARTYPOKER.NET WORLD CUP OF POOL taking place in Manila from Tuesday to Sunday 7th to 12th September, Matchroom Sport can announce that the USA will be represented by the Nos. 1 & 2 players on the BCA Men’s Point List, Johnny Archer and Rodney Morris.
Morris has played in all four runnings of the World Cup to date including winning the tournament with Shane Van Boening in 2008 and finishing runner-up in the company of Earl Strickland to the Philippines in the event’s inaugural year, 2006.
The tournament features 32 two-player teams from around the world taking aim for a $250,000 prize fund, with the winning pair bagging $60,000 between them.
For Johnny Archer, 41, it will be his World Cup debut, and he is relishing the opportunity of playing in the event.

Two Spots in Main Event Available in Austria
MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that there will be a European qualifying event offering two spots in the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool. Taking place on Sunday 11th July at the Sporthotel Alpina in Sankt Johann im Pongau, Austria, the tournament will be open to pairs from nations not otherwise represented in the competition.
Taking place directly after the Austrian Open on the Euro Tour, as in the main event, all matches will be scotch doubles, races to 8, with the winner breaking. The format will be double elimination until the last four and then single elimination.
