Europe's Largest Wheelchair Tour
The Wheelchair Tour accepts new players throughout the season on an adhoc basis - and you'll be matched against players of similar ability, so even if you know a wheelchair pool player who might like a fun pool weekend, get them to contact the tour now.
Each tour weekend features three events. The Pro Cup event - exclusively for the elite players, a Challenge Cup - for all the other players, and finally a Main Event which throws both divisions together. This two tiered approach gives players of all ability a really enjoyable weekend with a real chance of winning it big!
So there you have it... You don't have to be a World Class player, and there's no obligation to join the entire tour, but if you've been thinking about it but deferred before, you don't know what you're missing. Give it a go... I went to the last one and had a cracking time!
Tournament Director Chris Billings made sure it all runs like clockwork.
Matt Ford beats James Welch in Final at Southfields
39 players started at Southfields on Sunday, and after all the action from the Group Stages, and the Last 32 Single Elimination rounds, only two players remained... Local hero Matt Ford and the challenger from Chichester James Welch. Both players have had tough routes to the final, Welch only just managed to qualify as he finished third in his group, but then he played some of the best pool in his life to beat Phil Wildman 7:0 in the single elimination rounds.
In contrast, Ford finished top of his group, a group which included such pool luminaries as Andy Nicholson and the aforementioned Phil Wildman, and nothing could stop Matt in the final as Welch admitted he was drained, Ford steamrolled to an impressive 9:3 victory!

The races are naturally a little bit shorter because of the tendancy for the matches to be a little longer, and it will be great to see how the new format goes down with the 240 players at this event.

Black Bottle SAPPA Tour Event 1 runner-up Scott Ross starts running another rack in his semi final with Clark Smith.
Alexander Takes First SAPPA Title
Arbroath’s Greg Alexander won the first event of the 2009/10 Black Bottle Whisky SAPPA Scottish 9-Ball Tour, which took place at Riley’s Stirling, with an enthralling 10-8 victory over Scott Ross. A total of 55 players came along to test their skills in the new format event, and with the top 16 players seeded straight through to the Sunday, 39 players turned up on Saturday to play for one of the 16 spaces in the draw on Sunday where they would play for the prize fund of over £2,100.
The new format also saw the introduction of the alternate break system to the SAPPA Tour. The introduction of alternate breaks caused a fair amount of discussion both on the SAPPA Forum and at the event itself with players on both sides being vocal about their support for one system against the other.
Fabulous food and wonderful wine await you in Lugo, Galicia, Spain.
There's more to this year's premier Spanish event than the 30,000 Euro prize fund!
I always think Galicia in Spain is very much like Scotland - see if you can tell which I'm describing here... The locals speak with very strong accents and many words sound completely different, the weather is cooler up North, there are many picturesque coastal fishing villages, such beautiful low mountains, and the traditional costume includes a skirt-like affair for the proud men. Actually, that's Galicia - and if you've not been before you're in for a real treat!
Lugo itself is an historic place, surrounded by an ancient Roman city wall - and the venue is a large conference centre beautifully situated on the banks of the river Miño. While you're there, make sure you try the seafood as it is out of this world - so fresh it could still swim, and accompanied by a simply stunning local wine your evenings will be idyllic.
Add to that one of the best organised pool tournaments in the world and you've got a winning combination that even the most battle hardened pool player will love!
RyanAir fly to Santiago de Compostela and foreign players will be collected at the airport - there's already half a dozen Brits registered and there's likely to be more as you simply can't beat this opportunity!

The High Wycombe Hurricane 9 Ball Open
This much anticipated tournament at a chain of clubs that you might not have heard of before, but they have arrived with a bang and the first of a series of 9 ball tournaments was fully subscribed and is drawing to a close now.
The familiar eight groups of six players format is being used, with the top two from each group qualifying for a single elimination Last 16 stage.
There was a bit of controversy as groups were decided by racks won only and not matches.
Rico Diks group was decided by 1 rack. Rico thought he was through after winning 4 matches, then he lost his last match 5-0 to Chris Buckmaster which is where the drama started.
Craig Osborne thought he was through on racks won, by 1 rack even though he had lost 2 matches in the group.
After endless chat and discussion the decided outcome was a play off match between Craig and Rico, but Rico was not happy with this, insisted on his money back and left, and Ossie went through to the last 16 by the skin of his teeth.
This deal will provide a massive boost for S.A.P.P.A. as we strive to take the game to the next level in Scotland, with the agreement that the Black Bottle logo will feature on all S.A.P.P.A. merchandise and website activity for the duration of the contract. It is especially pleasing that the financial investment is coming from such a recognisable Scottish brand.
Black Bottle Whisky has been warming the hearts of whisky lovers for over 100 years, with few blended whiskies being able to claim the same rich heritage. It captures the very essence of Islay in an artful marriage all seven of the island’s classic malts, alongside some of the finest grain available. From 1879 to the present day, Black Bottle has become something of a whisky paradox, a blend regarded by true whisky lovers as a fine dram.
The first event of the 2009/10 Black Bottle S.A.P.P.A. Scottish 9-Ball Tour takes place next weekend at Riley's, Stirling and spaces are still available to join the Tour. Information regarding joining the Tour can be found at www.scottish9ball.com/membership or by contacting Ross McInnes, S.A.P.P.A. Tournament Organiser, on 07749 550 440.
