Europe's Largest Wheelchair Tour

The Wheelchair Tour accepts new players throughout the season on an adhoc basis - and you'll be matched against players of similar ability, so even if you know a wheelchair pool player who might like a fun pool weekend, get them to contact the tour now.

Each tour weekend features three events. The Pro Cup event - exclusively for the elite players, a Challenge Cup - for all the other players, and finally a Main Event which throws both divisions together. This two tiered approach gives players of all ability a really enjoyable weekend with a real chance of winning it big!

So there you have it... You don't have to be a World Class player, and there's no obligation to join the entire tour, but if you've been thinking about it but deferred before, you don't know what you're missing. Give it a go... I went to the last one and had a cracking time!

OVERVIEW

In 2009 the BWPPA will be offering to its members a four stop tour utilising a new dynamic format. Each weekend of pool will consist of three tournaments. A Pro Cup, a Challenge Cup on the Saturday and on Sunday the main ranking event.

Pro Cup
Pro Cup will be held on the Saturday of each weekend of pool and consist of the eight top players of the 2008 season for the first year only. The event will be double elimination with single elimination semi final and final. At the end of the season the lowest two ranked pro players will be demoted to the Challenge Cup and the two highest players from the Challenge Cup will be promoted to the Pro Cup.

Challenge Cup
This is an open event to all wheelchair players who are not included in the Pro Cup and is also held on the Saturday. The event will also be double elimination until the semi final stage where both the semi final and final will be single elimination. At the end of the season the top two Challenge Cup ranked players will be promoted to the Pro Cup.

Main Event
The main event will be used to derive all UK rankings – the number 1 player on the main event will be known as the UK ’s number 1 wheelchair player. This event will be held on the Sunday and will include both Challenge and Pro Cup players. The event will be single elimination and the top 8 players from the main rankings will be seeded. The event will play to a finish on the Sunday evening with matches not exceeding 2 hours. The main event rankings will be used from 2010 onwards for selection of European and World Wheelchair Championship places.
