10 Ball tournament report from Cambridge
Some very big names made it to Cambridge this weekend including Maltese snooker superstar Tony Drago, GB9 Supremo Imran Majid, London's Anthony Ginn, and even players from as far north as Yorkshire like Andy Appleton and Lee Rigby, and as far south as Bournemouth like Simon and Louis Clarke, all of whom braved the snow to join the fray.
The club was jam-packed and has been raking in a small fortune lately as the staff have been working full-pelt for a good while now, and today was no different with pool, football and poker events all happening at the same time.
There were a couple of new rules mentioned at this event, most notably the WPA have decided that a ten-ball made on the break is always re-spotted, no matter where it's pocketed.
From early on it became clear that this was going to be a traditional late finish here as the 47 runners played the new double elimination format and there were still several matches to play before the last 16 matches started as the clock was approaching 5.30pm already, and we weren't entirely sure that anyone had been eliminated at all yet!!!

Imran Majid puts another notch on his cue, this time at Bristol.

34 runners made the trip to Bristol this weekend, and they were duly rewarded with a plethora of pool - divided into eight groups (six groups of four players and two groups of five players) they were set to task with best of 9 racks for victory.
A grand total of £850 in prize money was available, and after a splendid buffet play resumed with a single knock out format from the last 16 onwards.
London's Imran Majid took top honours and the £340 first prize after beating Damian Massey in the race-to-nine final, with a score of 9-5. Damian took £170 for second place, and semi-finalists Chris Buckmaster and Lloyd Matining took £85 each whilst the quarter-finalists were rewarded with £42.50 a-piece.
Many thanks to Lee Hersey for running the event and providing the results, to the management and staff of Rileys Yate for their sterling efforts and, by all accounts, a wonderful buffet, and finally to Simon Clarke who stepped up at the last minute to take these fantastic photos.

British Wheelchair Tour kicks off with new format and new sponsors
There's a very exciting year in prospect for Britain's wheelchair pool players as tour organisers have restructured the tour and brought new sponsors into play, and the best news is, it's not too late to join.
The tour can now welcome players of widely ranging ability with a new three division structure that means that non-professional players can battle amongst themselves in a new "Challenge" division before having the opportunity of matching themselves against the elite players on the tour.

Three World Champions fail to qualify for AGIPI BILLIARD MASTERS final stages
The second and last qualification weekend for the AGIPI BILLIARD MASTERS has come to an end. As the reigning and the former World Champions Zanetti and Umeda did not qualify, only five out of the eight World crown holders made it to the final stages. Two young guns are rewarded for their performance this weekend with a return ticket for March: Jeremy Bury and Filipos Kasidokostas. Alongside the two representatives of the next generation are two much heralded notables: Frederic Caudron and Semih Sayginer. Caudron stupefied the crowd this weekend with his new-found form, after winning the World Cup in Sluiskil last week. Semih Sayginer, ´Mr. Magic´, the number 1061 of the world ranking, was just awesome. Phenomenal cueing combined with the brightest of heads...he´s back!

Philippines to host 2009 World Cup of Pool
THE 2009 World Cup of Pool will be staged in the Philippines for the first time in the tournament's history.
A press conference was held at the Sports Plus Cafe, Eastwood , Philippines, earlier this week to announce the event, which will now be in its fourth year.
The first competition was staged in Newport, Wales with the next two in Rotterdam, Holland, but this will be the first time it will have been held outside of Europe.
Featuring 32 two-player teams from around the globe, The World Cup of Pool, sponsored by PartyGaming, has become one of the most important dates in the sport's calendar and this year's version will be hosted from September 1 to 6 in Manila.
"We're really looking forward to a great tournament because the World Cup of Pool is a special event and to bring it here to the Philippines is really exciting," said Matchroom Sport Director Eddie Hearn.
