Alex Kazakis won the 2016 Kremlin Cup defeating former world champion Thortsen Hohmann 9-6 in the final.

Team USA standings after eight events
ONCE AGAIN, it was Shane Van Boening who took the honours as the eighth event on Team USA Mosconi Cup qualification took place in Oregon. The tournament was the Pac West Invitational and it was Van Boening who triumphed beating Filipino Ramil Gallego in the championship match to take maximum points.
High finishers included Dennis Hatch who is chasing a fifth Mosconi Cup appearance nine years after he made his MVP-winning debut at the MGM in 2009. Other contenders harvesting the points included Oscar Dominguez, a team mate of Hatch in 2009, and Skyler Woodward who enters the top ten for the first time.

McDermott Releases Carom Cue Line
McDermott Cue Mfg., LLC, a leading manufacturer and worldwide distributor of billiards cues and products, has recently announced the release of a new line of cues designed especially for carom.
The new line features over 60 popular McDermott cue designs that have been tailored to meet the specifications for carom. This includes the cue being two inches shorter, a smaller tip diameter and a straight taper. Competitively priced starting at $285, these cues are made in the USA and are built to meet the same superior quality standards that customers have come to expect from McDermott. Many of the new cues feature McDermotts high-performance G-Core and i-Shafts.

2017 IPA Tour Event 3 The UK Open
Another tournament, another step up the ladder for the IPA Pool Tour with the huge Bamburgh Suite at St James Park, home of Newcastle United FC, providing just about perfect conditions for players and spectators alike. A full field went in to battle Friday morning at 10.00am using all 24 tables through to one in the morning and then on again on Saturday in the Open until we finally reached a semi final line up that saw local lad Michael Peel line up against Simon Ward, while Ben Davies and Clint I'Anson fought it out on the livestream table. Although both matches were good in their own right it was the Davies/I'Anson battle that will go down in pool legend as Clint went from 4-1 up to 6-4 down to win 7-6 with one frame perhaps changing the tide of the match. R=Thanks to some tactical genius Clint win a frame that we all thought was a lost cause and marched on to play Michael Peel in the final.
In front of a loud but fair crowd very much on the side of home favourite Michael "the real deal" Peel (their words not mine) , it wasn't to be for the local player who went down fighting 7-3 but he was anything but disgraced playing against a top professional and is one to look out for in future events if he can keep the form he has shown this weekend.

AUSTRIA HAVE WON the 2017 12BET World Cup of Pool as the duo of Mario He and Albion Ouschan secured the title against Team USA, who had their moments but ultimately could not contain the Austrians.
Winning the prestigious scotch doubles title for the first time, the Austrians secured the magnificent trophy, gold medals as well as $60,000 to split. Although disappointed, Shane Van Boening and Skyler Woodward can console themselves with a cheque for $30,000 and the added bonus of playing so well as a team ahead of the 2017 Mosconi Cup in December.
Earlier in the day both teams had assumed the underdog role in their semi-finals but won through, with Austria beating China and the USA getting the better of Chinese Taipei.
That set up the race to 10 final which got underway in sweltering conditions in the famous York Hall in the heart of Londons bustling East End.
The two teams sparred through the early stages and the score stood at 2-2 and then 4-4 as neither side managed to assert themselves. They shared the next two before the USA moved into a 6-5 lead.
The critical moment came in the 12th game, when the US took the bolder option of a pot when the safety might have been the option. Woodward missed the pot and from there Austria levelled it at 6-6.
It was to be the USAs last meaningful contribution to the game as Austria took the next four to win the 12BET World Cup of Pool.
A delighted Ouschan said, Its crazy. After winning against England B with such a bad performance in the quarter-finals we didnt think about lifting the trophy. But I played two almost perfect sets, Mario played incredibly well and made some important shots. I am so proud of him and myself, it is an amazing feeling.

USA v Austria for the title

IT WILL BE USA v AUSTRIA who contest the final of the 2017 12BET World Cup of Pool as they both scored surprisingly straightforward wins against top opposition inside a sweltering York Hall on Sunday afternoon.
With a $60,000 prize awaiting the champions and it will be Austrias first final in the events 12-year history. The USA on the other hand have reached the final twice, losing to the Philippines in the events inaugural year 2006 - and then winning two years later in Rotterdam with Shane Van Boening and Rodney Morris making up the victorious team.
It was Van Boening accompanied by Skyler Woodward who flew the flag this year and they took hold of the semi-final match against defending champions Chinese Taipei and never really looked back.
The Taiwanese had lead 2-1 but then the US axis reeled off four straight racks to create some space and it was a gap the Asians could never close.
Commented a delighted Van Boening, Oh man, I am very happy to be in the final specially to win against the number one seed is just unreal. I am proud of Skyler

China and Austria make up the final four

CHINA AND AUSTRIA completed the semi-final line-ups of the 12BET World Cup of Pool as they won in contrasting styles at the York Hall this evening. The Chinese pair romped home in superb style, giving the Philippines little table time in their 9-2 win, while Austria gutted it out against England B in an error-strewn affair. The arena was very hot with table-side temperatures in the 30s and it certainly impacted the tempo of play.
Featuring 32 two-man teams from around the globe, the 12BET World Cup of Pool is into its 11th year as reigning champions Chinese Taipei attempt to become the first team ever to successfully defend the title in the $250,000 event.
In the opening match, China looked in unstoppable form as they trounced the Philippines 9-2 to reach the semi-final where they will face Austria. The duo of Wu Jiaqing and Dang Jinhu were flawless as the controlled every aspect of their game to leave the Philippines as mere spectators for most of the time.
