Shaw Wins Total9Ball 1,000 Jackpot!!!
Since the creation of the Double Chance 2x format by Total9ball, we have run 18 events using this unique format, and there have been many attempts made by some top class players including, Craig Osborne, Imran Majid, and Mark Gray to name a few. All have won a T9B 2x Event but haven't managed to remain undefeated throughout the whole event to scoop the Jackpot. This year Total9ball began its first ever National Series which consists of 6 double chance events spread across the country to offer more players the chance to compete in this style format and to see if they could become 'The Undefeated'
As you will be aware, Events One and Two were won by Craig Osborne. Saturday 4th May was the date for event Three to take place and it was held at the Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley, This club was previously a Rileys but has now been taken over by George Vetters the ex Rileys manager, while Barnsley has always been one of the country's top venues, it was clear to see the work George has put into the club and it was excellent for T9B to use such a good club for this event.
There was a field of 28 players which was less than expected but this wasn't going to dampen the event as it still boasted some excellent prize money. The event kicked off at 10am after the draw was completed by Dave Nelson and Chris Hall. There were some cracking matches drawn including a mouth watering match up between two 2012 European Mosconi Cup winning players, Chris Melling and Darren Appleton, this match was played on the recently re-clothed Diamond Match Table.

OB Cues - May Contest
OB would like to announce our May contest which is a name a cue contest! The 3 week contest runs from May 1st 2013 until May 22nd 2013 at 11:59pm EST. The winners will be announced on Monday May 27th 2013 on the OB Website and Facebook page.
To enter the contest you must come up with a name for one or all of the following four cues that are part of our New 2013 Line of OB Cues: OB-130, OB-131, OB-132, OB-133. You can view the cues on the OB website by visiting the following link: www.obcues.com/categories/OB-Cues/2013-OB-Cues/
We already have names for the OB-134 (Lions Claw) OB-135 (Darts) and OB-136 (Ebony & Blood) as those cues were winners in our design a cue contest and each of the contest winners named their cues. So we thought it would be cool to have fans of OB, come up with names for the other four new cues.
We will pick the four winners based on what we think are the best and most appropriate names for the cues and each winner will receive an OB Shaft of their choice or they can choose to use a $235 credit towards any other product that they must purchase directly from OB at the full MSRP.
We will only accept one entry per person by email so if you want to come up with names for more than one of the four cues, it must be done in one email. You can only suggest one name per cue so your entry can have a total of four names (for the four cues). Please make sure you let us know which cue each name is attached to.
In the event that more than one person picks the same name for the same cue and we decide that name is a winner, we will select the first submission based on when we received it, so don't delay!

BWPPA TOUR ESCAPES TO BARNSLEY AS SEASON CONTINUES
The 2013 season got off to a flying start in Birmingham in March as Tony Southern regained the coveted No.1 ranking spot, by just edging out Ireland's Fred Dinsmore in the final. Dinsmore got his revenge though, beating Southern to the Gold Medal at the recent European 9-Ball Championships in Slovenia.
The rest of the new season promises to be just as exciting, as we expand our venues to include the Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley for this event, and hopefully later in the year, a permanent home for the tour at Stoke Mandeville.
Several players who have not played on tour much in the last year or so will be returning, and visa permitting Russian Alexander Prokopiev will be returning as will Polish player Leszek Blumczynski, who is currently living in the UK.

The EPBF General Assembly 2013...
...was held in Portoroz, Slovenia, during the Dynamic Billiards European Championships. Many EPBF member nations have sent their delegates to this biannual meeting. Important decisions which will point the way for the EPBF in the future have been taken. The delegates present came up with a lot of questions which were answered by the Board to the satisfaction of all members. After the reports of the individual Board members, the statutes have been changed according to the Board's proposal. As a highlight of the meeting, four new full members were accepted into the pool family of Europe: Cyprus Pocket Billiard Federation (CYPURS), Koninklijke Nederlands Biljartbond (THE NETHERLANDS), Real Federacion Espanola de Bilard (SPAIN) and Federacao Portuguesa der Bilhar (PORTUGAL). The EPBF President Gre Leenders welcomed them all in. After discussing the future activities and budgets, the elections were taking place. For the Board, all members were re-elected even though there were candidates running against some of them. But Frans van den Bergh (Treasurer), Anamaria Matesic (Sports Director), Sandra Hanf (Youth Sports Director) and David Morris (Board Member) all received the trust of the General Assembly. Joining the Board as a new assessor is Kurt Roos from Sweden. After that, the Court of Arbitration and the auditors have been elected, and the meeting ended after 5 hours of fruitful and positive discussions. The EPBF is now ready to continue the good work from the recent years with full strength.

Rollison wins second consecutive T9B Amateur Event
27th April 2013 saw the T9B hit the midway point of it's Amateur Series with Event 3 held at the beautifully refurbished Hurricane Room club in St Albans. 29 players in total supported this event and it was great to see some new players mixed with some regular players. First of all, we hope all new players to the series enjoyed the event and will support more in the future, there was some great feedback from them about how nice the atmosphere was and that they enjoyed the experience of a T9B event greatly. The format used was the T9B created, double chance format, this format offers players two chances to win and also the possibility that on a really good day one player could win both the "Winner's Prize Fund", as well as the "Runner Up Prize Fund" plus the "Jackpot Roll Up" which currently stands at 110 meaning yesterday's total Jackpot on offer was a cool 510. There were a few key performances yesterday at the Hurricane Room and also some some players who I feel who need to be put in the spotlight for how that played, therefore I am writing this report a little differently.

WPBLtv Press Release - WPBL Season to Launch May 30th with Free Broadcast
The World Professional Billiard League will launch the inaugural 2013 season Thursday May 30th at 7pm PT. The entire season will be played at the new 13,000 sq. ft. WPBL arena in Las Vegas, where 48 of the worlds top players will compete over the course of 26 weeks to become the first ever WPBL Champions.
After numerous unforeseen construction delays, the entire season had to be rescheduled. With new management in place, all players were consulted to successfully schedule around major events abroad. The match on June 20th was also eliminated to accommodate the Ultimate 10 Ball Championship in Mississippi. The entire 2013 schedule can be viewed at www.WPBLtv.com.
Darren Appleton, captain of the Philadelphia Aces, made the following comment After all the setbacks and bad luck the WPBL has experienced, its great to finally see light at the end of the tunnel. It's also great for everyone involved, the players and billiard industry, that the WPBL is working around international events to allow us, the players, to play in these tournaments. The WPBL is a professional organization with top class people involved and they give us hope for the future. The players and teams are behind them 100%, and still believe in Bonus Ball, as this is the best opportunity for pool to gain worldwide respect and recognition.

Well... My tip for this year's World Snooker Championship fell at the very first hurdle.. Little did I know that despite winning the Shanghai Masters last year, John Higgins has been struggling a bit since then, and this time too many little errors put too much pressure on the Scotsman, and his opponent, Mark Davis, fairly cruised through to the next round.
