2008 GB9 London Classic Champion Imran Majid (left), presented with his trophy by Pete Williams, Director of CueSportTV Imran Majid maintains unbeaten record at GB9 Ball Tour Main Event
After three days of play, with a full field of 128 elite quality players in the Main Event at the GB9 event in Harrow, Imran Majid has done the unthinkable and won for the third time in a row. It shouldn't be possible should it? There's too much luck needed in nine-ball to have a dominant champion isn't there?
Well... Apparently not, but the journey wasn't without hiccups, not least the final match which went hill-hill with both players missing the final nine ball once, after Majid left himself too straight on the eight to get good shape on the nine. He missed a long thin cut playing from near the rail, then Hundal missed the only shot available to him, a table length bank into the opposite corner pocket!
Both shots were very makeable, but nine ball is all about the pressure, and these were the hero shots, the ones that count, the "make or break" shots, the ones that nine ball is all about - these two shots made this the best GB9 final so far... After three days of play the title, the money, the ranking points, the glory - everything hung on this one last 21/4 inch yellow striped ball. Majid executed a perfect cut down the opposite rail to send the nine into oblivion and his star into orbit. Nine ball pool at it's best - absolutely thrilling!!!

2008 GB9 London Classic Challenge Cup Winner David Walsh (right), presented with his trophy by GB9 Tour Chairman Lee Rigby David Walsh triumphs in GB9 Challenge Cup!!!
Two players from London earned their chance of fame and glory by reaching the final of The GB9 Challenge Cup this weekend. It was battle of East versus West, as David Walsh from Shepherd's Bush in West London beat Andy Nicholson from Mile End in East London at Rileys Wealdstone.
It had been noted earlier in the tournament that both players were in excellent "form", Nicholson's break received particular mention, and this result has really placed him "on the pool map" for a lot of players and spectators alike, but in the final it was Walsh who triumphed with a competent 11-5 to take the trophy, the title, and the all important ranking points.

Click the picture to visit the official website Maltese snooker star Tony Drago joins GB9 Ball Tour Pro Division permanently!
Tony Drago will be permanently added to the GB9 Pro Division starting at Wealdstone, taking the vacancy made available by Steve Brown who has relinquished his spot for personal reasons. Drago has seen his pool profile ascending to stratospheric heights after notable wins at international standard 9 ball and 10 ball events, and has won fans around the world with his no nonsense approach and quick-fire style which appears to be more suited to the world of professional pool.
The "Disher" - Tommy Donlon will be making his first appearance as a reserve - in for Andy Richardson who cannot make this event. Donlon could be a big threat if he brings his "A" game with him, he was one of the UK's most dominant players in previous years - this tour HAS to be the toughest in Europe - and it just got tougher!
YES... It's GB9 Ball Tour time again, and with the list of entrants looking like a European list of 9-ball superstars, Pro9 will be there reporting with up-to-the-minute results, photos, videos, interviews, and will be making the long awaited draw for the FREE OB-1 Shaft... And The Pro Shop will have plenty of stock for those unlucky enough not to win one!

German EuroTour Winner: Thomas Engert (photo © / EPBF) Engert savours victory as Germans rule the roost on home soil
Thomas Engert, the two time winner of the World Pool Masters, has won the German Euro Tour in front of an ecstatic home crowd, beating Italy's Fabio Petroni with a resounding 9-1 score at the Billard-Centre "Die Drei" in Sindelfingen, in Southern Germany.
As the results from the final stages of the German EuroTour rolled in, there was a feeling of predictability in the nationality of the winner. Player after hopeful player was being culled by the strong German contingent of players, and their supremos were performing exceptionally.
Perhaps Souquet could have taken this one down, surfing on the crest of the wave that carried him over the line at the recent World 8 Ball Championships in Arabia, but he fell in the quarter-finals to unfancied Fin Markus Juva.
Best of the Brits was Karl Boyes who had a notable win over Dutchman Nick van den Berg 9-7 in the quarter finals, until he fell to the eventual winner in the Semi-Finals. Engert was a worthy winner having to best reigning World 9 Ball Champion Daryl Peach in the Last 16.

Scottish American Pool Players Association S.A.P.P.A. www.scottish9ball.com www.rileysltd.com Download the latest SAPPA Tour Rankings (Small 150Kb .xls file)

Holtz wins again, and again.... And AGAIN???
The Scottish American Pool Players Association have posted the updated provisional rankings after the third ranking event of the 2008/09 SAPPA season, and once again Pat Holtz has taken the trophy - that's the third time in a row that "Scotland's hardest working pool player" has outgunned the field in a Scottish Ranking Event.
Darren Murray and Tam Talent both improve by a couple of spots after last months drastic new season "shake up" that saw them drop out of the top 16. Adam Smith further improves his place in the rankings after his meteoric rise into the top 16 after his first event and is now a mere 20 points from entering the top 8, and Jayson Shaw drops out of the top 16 entirely after not attending any of the three first SAPPA events of the season, despite having enough form to win a spot at the European Champonships.

An invitation to the 2008 Barnsley 9 Ball Open
Get a whole weekend of pool for £36 entry at one of Rileys best clubs, and £250 prize money added by Rileys with the potential for a nice four figure prize fund.
There will be a plate competition too, with money added for all players not in the money in the main event.
If that wasn't enough there's a Special Event on Saturday night with top players from the UK (and possibly Europe) playing for a top prize. Compulsive viewing for all players at the end of a hard day’s pool, details and players to be finalised!
Other special events will be running throughout the weekend (e.g. Speed pool, straight pool shootout, poker), so don't miss what is probably the most fun UK American Pool event of 2008.

 Jayson Shaw goes to Europe!
A fantastic day was had by all those who participated in the recent EPBF European Championship qualifier organised by SAPPA on behalf of the GB9/BPPPA on Sunday 11th May at Riley’s, Stirling.
Our thanks got to Riley’s for hosting the event at such short notice, the management and staff were superb as usual and the playing conditions spot on. Another big thank you must go to GB9/BPPPA who offered SAPPA the qualifying spot so that all parts of the UK could be represented at the championships.
The event itself was 9 ball, double elimination until the last 16 and then straight KO to find the winner to represent the UK along with Imran Majid, Darren Appleton and Craig Osborne at the finals in Willingen, Germany.

Tony Drago - 2008 Predator International 10-Ball Champion Tony Drago of Malta, probably the fastest pool player in the world, found himself in the biggest finals of his life against probably the world's most dangerous player, Filipino nightmare Francisco Bustamante. Drago had won one pool event, a 16 man invitational called the World Pool Masters 5 years ago, but this event, The Predator International 10-Ball Championship with a field of 96 world class pros, was on a different scale. The first few games the nerves were showing on both players as many chances were given to each. Drago kept the upper hand throughout to maintain a small lead early on. Bustamante never looked comfortable, as he has been cursed over the years as bridesmaid to many events including 2nd at the World 9-Ball Championships. Francisco was not controlling the cue ball properly, had missed kicks, and missed shots way before the middle of the finals.

Francisco Bustamante - 2008 Predator International 10-Ball Championship Semi-Finalist Down to the final four in Las Vegas!
The top three pool powerhouse continents are still in business in the final four players of the Predator International 10-Ball Championship. Europe, Asia, and USA. From 33 Americans, 22 Europeans, and 19 Asians it has been dwindled down to the Final 16 with 5 USA, 5 Europeans, 4 Asia, 1 Canadian and 1 Mexico. That has been shaved down to the Final Four consisting of Jeremy Jones USA, Francisco Bustamante PHI, Tony Drago of Malta, and Marcus Chamat SWE. #2 seed Bustamante is the only seeded player left in the event and only Filipino out of the strong contingent of seven Filipinos to survive. The European and North American forces outflanked the strong Filipinos, who had been very dominant the past year in 2007, but having a slow start in 2008.
USA's last hope resides on the shoulders of Texan Jeremy Jones. Jones, a very experienced pro with a US Open title under his belt, has been off and on the last few years in the pool circuit. He was unseeded in the event so took the long journey out to the final four. His wins included a 10-9 win over Charlie Bryant, then he defeated Louis Ulrich, Tomoki Mekari JPN, before losing to Dominguez MEX. He bounced back into the final 16 with a dominating win against Stan Tourangeau CAN. In the final 16 he faced red hot Raj Hundal of India, and then he defeated the last Canadian standing Tyler Edey. Jones will be tested in the semi-finals against the dangerous Bustamante of the Philippines next.
