PEACH LEADS THE WAY FOR BRITS IN MANILA
Daryl Peach , the UK ranked No.1 player, became the first British player through to the knock-out stages of the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship as he recorded an excellent 8-4 win over home hope Ramil Gallego at the PICC in Manila .
Peach, the 34 year-old from Blackpool , made it two wins from three in Group 32 and that will definitely be enough to win his group and secure a spot in Wednesday’s single elimination stages.

The World Pool Association has officially warned Earl Strickland that his further participation in the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championships would be in jeopardy if he misbehaves during future matches. A hearing was held by the WPC tournament management at which Strickland admitted that his behavior was “completely unacceptable” and apologized for it. However, a news release by Matchroom Sport indicated there were mitigating circumstances stating that “while not excusing his behavior. He (Strickland) did present valid reasons for it, trying not to excuse himself but to explain his conduct.”

HEARTBREAK, WALKOUT AND TV SNAFUS ON DAY ONE OF WPC
The opening day of the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship at the magnificent playing hall of the Philippine International Convention Center on Saturday was filled with heartbreak, a dramatic walkout and a couple of snafus on television. Hometown hero Efren “Bata” Reyes mixed some magical moments with horrendous misses and lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to young American Tony Crosby in his opening match and was in danger of being eliminated unless he won his next two matches against Poland’s Radoslaw Babica who is nicknamed the “Choir Boy” and Indonesia’s Roy Apancho who whipped Babica 8-1 on opening day. Smiling Crosby Upsets Reyes in Thriller
FLORIDA-BASED former Englishman Tony Crosby caused a huge shock on the opening day of the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship as he edged out national hero Efren Reyes in an 8-7 thriller at the PICC in Manila .
In front of a highly enthusiastic 600-strong crowd, both players had chances to win it before Reyes missed a simple 9-ball to effectively hand the match to Crosby .
“I was so happy when I drew Efren as I’ve never played him before and always wanted to play him,” said Crosby . Click on "Read More..." for the details.
