Will Bond Defect To The East?
Nigel Bond is looking forward to defending the 888casino.com World Seniors Championship title in Portsmouth next month, but has revealed that his snooker career could lead to a permanent move to Russia.
Bond beat Tony Chappel 2-0 in the final last year and will be aiming for back-to-back titles at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on October 19 and 20. Green baize legends like Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor and Cliff Thorburn will also competing for the 18,000 top prize at the Sky-televised event.
Bond, age 47 from Derbyshire, is still going strong on the sports main tour and is ranked 44th in the world. But the player nicknamed 00-147 admits that he will consider moving base to eastern Europe in years to come.
I have spent a lot of time in Russia, coaching players, said Bond. There is an academy in Moscow now and there is so much enthusiasm for snooker there. At the moment I am still enjoying professional snooker and Im still competitive, but there could come a time when it makes financial sense for me to go over there and coach full time.
I have also recently been to Macedonia to play an exhibition. Its amazing to see these places where you would never think they have even heard of snooker, but so many people there watch the coverage on Eurosport and they love it.

McDermott Announces Winners of Bumper Guessing Game Contest
McDermott Cue Mfg. LLC is a leading manufacturer and worldwide distributor of pool cues, performance shafts and billiard accessories. McDermott is proud to announce the winners of the Bumper Guessing Game Contest.
McDermott has filled a tank with an undisclosed number of bumpers. Fans of McDermotts Facebook page submitted guesses for how many bumpers were in the tank. The grand prizewinner of the contest was Shaunesy Daly of Iowa City, IA. His guess of 2,342 was just one bumper short of the correct number (2,343). As the grand prizewinner, Shaunesy will receive a free McDermott G411 pool cue with an approximate retail value of $430.
Prizes were also awarded to the two runners-up. The 2nd place prizewinner was Dustin Schlick of Iowa City, IA. He will receive a free Star S49 pool cue with an approximate retail value of $139. The 3rd place prizewinner was John Gluth of Renville, MN. He will receive a free Lucky L40 pool cue with an approximate retail value of $89. The winners of the contest were contacted by McDermott via email.

Souquet named as first European player
RALF SOUQUET will break yet another record this December when he dons the blue European shirt to do battle in the 20th annual PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
It will be the Germans 16th time as a member of Team Europe and cements his existing record for the leading number of appearances by a European player in pools No.1 event.
And when the tournament gets underway on Monday 2nd December, Souquet will be looking to improve upon two other Mosconi records he currently holds all-time number of wins (45), and more matches played by any European player (75).
The Mosconi Cup is by far the best event out there in the world of billiards and there are hardly any words to explain how big and important this tournament is, said a delighted Souquet.
I don't know my team mates yet but no matter who will join our team, captain Johan Ruijsink will make us work hard and fight for our lives to keep the Cup in Europe, and win this prestigious event for the 4th time in a row.

Philippines up for the job
WITH THE 2013 World Cup of Pool set to take place in London from 17-22 September, its no surprise that leading UK bookmaking firm William Hill have installed the super-talented Filipino pairing of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza as joint favourites at 8/1 along with the USA.
The deadly duo from Manila, currently world ranked #2 and #3 respectively, are certainly one of the in-form pairs competing for the $60,000 top prize when 32 two-player teams from all over the world convene at the York Hall for the six day event.
Although the Philippines have won this event on two occasions in its seven year history, both times it was the pairing of Pinoy pool legends Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante who claimed the glory.
The nearest Orcollo has come was a runners-up spot in 2010 when he and Roberto Gomez were well beaten by China, while Corteza will be making his second appearance in the competition after partnering Orcollo in Manila in 2012.
Last September, with the weight of expectation on their shoulders, they flopped, going down 8-7 to a giant-killers Switzerland in the first round.
I am very honoured to be given another chance to represent the Philippines in the World Cup of Pool, said Corteza.
To be honest, last year was like a blur and it was over before we knew it. The pressure from our home crowd was a little too much to handle but hopefully this time we can perform better.

Matchroom & Diamond agree three year deal

THE 2013 WPA WORLD 9-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS THIS WEEK
If you like the very best in professional pool squaring off for ultimate supremacy on the felt pitch, then the next 11 days will be nothing short of Valhalla.
The 2013 World Pool-Billiards Association(WPA) World 9-ball Championship is set to kick off this week in steaming hot Doha, Qatar, and, judging by the current player list, this years event is shaping up to be the best one yet.
128 players from over 40 countries will descend upon Dohas Al Arabi Sports Club looking to book their spot in the pool history books. But whoever finds themselves atop the winners platform hoisting pools biggest and most prestigious prize after the finals on September 13th, will have to contend with loads of pressure and drama along the way.
Defending champion and World number one Darren Appleton of Great Britain looks set to make a spirited defense of his title. Appleton won his first World 9-ball championship in June, 2012, with an incredible 13-12 win over Chinas Li Hewen, in one of the most memorable and stirring finals ever witnessed in professional pool.

Richard Twomey wins the T9B End Of Series Masters Tournament

Total9ball finished it's current amateur season yesterday with The Masters event held at the fantastic St Albans Hurricane Room. The event was different to anything T9B has run previously, with longer match races and a mid-session interval in each match. 27 players competed, each with one aim, to become the T9B Masters Champion. Once again there were lots of new faces which is great and from their positive feedback Im sure we will see them again.

Morley International are pleased to be hosting one of the biggest money-matches of the year. 2 former IPA Tour amateur champions face off at BlackBall rules for a minimum pot of 10,000 on the 31st of August.
Derby's Jack Whelan travels up to Morley in confident mood, having been last year's Golden 8 ball singles, team and mixed doubles champion. However, Blackpool's Lee Anderson recently reached his first main event final on the IPA tour and was himself recently part of the victorious team at the Golden 8 ball tournament, and only losing to the eventual winner in the semi final of the singles.
Both players love to play an attacking game and always look for a finish, so expect fireworks from the word go. A massive crowd is expected on the day and the atmosphere will be nothing short of electric.
