The weekend of the 26-28 November 2010 sees fifty-two teams and around 170 university nine-ball players arrive in Liverpool to battle it out for the Team and Individual Championships. This event has grown dramatically in the last seven years, and following a successful event last year, the event will be played across two fantastic Riley’s venues – Grand Central and Wavertree. With a further six teams competing compared with last season’s entry, the event continues to boast the title of the biggest annual nine-ball event in the UK.
The team event will continue to use the Championship/Trophy format with the bonus of a ‘second chance’ that double elimination offers. The Individual event will feature a random redraw from each round from

Once again David Bare and Gael Yard invite players to attend the brilliant Paris Open, and as usual, the opening rounds will be held at the Leader Club Billard 94 in Sucy-en-Brie, and the finals will be held at the elegant Cercle Clichy Montmartre.
This year there are no celebrity players invited this year, but the reputation of this event, the winner break format with races to 7/9/11 single knock out from the Last 64 onwards, and of course, the €18,000+ prize fund on offer is sure to mean that there will be plenty of big names in attendance.

KARL Boyes has set his sights on becoming a Mosconi Cup legend.
Boyes, 28, will be making his debut in next month’s PartyCasino.com Mosconi Cup but after a break-out season is desperate to prove that he is not a one-year wonder.
“I’m the rookie in the team but if you have a look at the season I’ve had then I’ve had one of the best out of all the players,” said Boyes, the current European No.1 who also took down the WPA World 8-Ball Championship in April.
“But I don’t want to be in the Mosconi Cup once and then not play in it again for five years. I want to play in it year after year and establish myself in the side just like Shane Van Boening has done for the Americans. Hopefully it will not be a case where I’ve only been in it once and then never again.”
Boyes will line up alongside Mika Immonen, Ralf Souquet, Nick Van den Berg and Darren Appleton at the York Hall, London from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th December as Europe attempt to win the Mosconi Cup for the third time in four years.
“I’m looking forward to it, practising every day and even just thinking about it gets butterflies in my stomach,” continued Boyes.

Only one pool tournament in the World has a doping policy that every participant is required to be under the influence of marijuana: The Amsterdam (D)open.
Since the 80’s, pool billiards in Amsterdam has developed in its famous “coffee shops” where a typical Amsterdam-style of pool has emerged. Since a couple of years the official circuit of organized pool is under the scrutiny of the official Olympic list of forbidden substances. Although Marijuana is in no way helpful for human concentration or endurance it still is listed as a officially forbidden substance. As a tribute to the roots of the sport Club 8 organizes the annual Amsterdam (D)open 8-ball tournament which this year will take place the 26th of November.

Scotland's Jayson Shaw - Another Pro9'er becomes a World Champion!
Scotland's Jayson Shaw has won the 2010 World Men's BlackBall Championship after a thrilling final match, televised live on Eurosport, with a 8-3 defeat of France's Sebastien Ramier in Limoges, France.
A delighted Jayson said, "the setup was different class and the organisation and venue were on a par with the European's run by the EPBF I attended in Germany in 2008. In regards to the future hopefully I will be able to attend more International 9 ball events, starting with all the Eurotour events leading up to competing in the more prestigious events like the World Pool Masters, 9 Ball World Championships, 10 Ball World Championships as I feel I am now reaching the level needed to compete against the best players in the world at these disciplines."
Hundreds of players from 15 countries attended the spectacular international event, featuring the cream of the small ball game's elite players, battling it out in separate divisions for Men, Women, Seniors, Juniors, and Team titles. England's highest finisher was Andy Lucas who bowed out in the Last 16 Stage to France's Jonathan Lefevre, but Scotland had sent a strong contingent to France and in true-to-form style, they won the team event as well.
