Xiao-Fang Fu Wins over Allison Fisher for World 9-Ball Championship
Shanghai, China- A new name in the billiards world will stand out as China's Xiao-Fang Fu has been crowned the 2010 Women's World 10-Ball Championship. Fu toppled a star studded field and overcame legendary Allison Fisher in the finals to become the second consecutive Chinese woman to win the World 9-Ball.
Fu made it through the beginning stage of the event making the top half cut to reach the round of 32 players. She made relatively short work of Hui Shan Lai 9-3, Ho Yun Tan 9-2, and a tough quarter finals match with former Amway Cup winner Chieh-Yu Chouh of Taiwan 9-7. In the semi-finals, she faced her friend and defending World 9-Ball Champ Sha Sha Liu of China, whom she defeated 9-6 to reach the finals.

The Action Report is proud to announce another blockbuster challenge match featuring two of the elite players in the world. On October 12 thru 14 at Amsterdam Billiards in New York City, Mezz USA presents TAR 19 Mika Immonen vs Shane Van Boening in a $10,000 entry, winner take all match. The match will be Ten Ball, Race to 100 over three days. Two of the biggest players on the biggest stage.
Between them these players have won the U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship the last three years in a row with Mika Immonen sweeping the last two in a row. Shane Van Boening has a reputation as a stone killer in one on one match ups and Mika Immonen was voted Player of the Decade for his unheard of record of major tournament victories all over the world. Can the Iceman overcome SVB's big break and proven track record in long heads up matches ? Can SVB deal with the Iceman's mental toughness that has been proven countless times in sudden death tournament situations? This match is sure to answer all those questions and more.
It is only fitting for a match of this stature to take place in one of the most famous rooms in the United States. Amsterdam Billiards in New York City, New York has long been a benchmark for high end pool rooms not only in America but across the world. Home to numerous pro players over the years and renowned for a class atmosphere and playing conditions this is the perfect location for a clash of two champions. Tournament Director Ramiz Turulja has once again managed to attract the cream of Europe's bountiful crop of top pool players, and this time he's got new sponsors and a new game too - formerly a 9-Ball event, this year it's 10-Ball in sunny Boznia, held at the five star rated Radon Plaza Hotel.
16 Dynamic II tables, all with the best Artemis cushions and Ivan Simonis pool cloth await the entrants attracted to this event by the superb playing conditions and healthy prize fund. So far, this group/double elimination with alternate breaks tournament that progresses to a single elimination format in the final stages has attracted confirmations from Ralf Souquet, Daryl Peach, Raj Hundal, Karl Boyes, Imran Majid, Brett Armer, Darren Appleton, Ivica Putnik, Šandor Tot, Karlo Dalmatin, Bruno Muratore, Vilmoš Foldes, and a lot of others - over 120 confirmed players already!
Live online video streaming for up to 500 fans to view the action live as it unfolds, and even more great news for fans and players alike is that the event will once again kick off with a big money "ring game" on the Thursday night.

Serge Das has made this event his own over the last couple of years, taking the top prize by cutting a swathe through the hordes of local players, accompanied by fellow Belgian Pascal Budo (who also reached the semi-finals last year).
It's really time that he was given some real competition, and the incredible deal on offer should really encourage some more international players to attend... Full-Board accommodation will be provided by the local Federation in double rooms free of charge to those players participating from overseas federations.
Whatever happens, don't leave it too late... Spots for international players are strictly limited this year, so book early to avoid disappointment!

Manuel Pereira is the new 2010 European Seniors Ten Ball Champion after a comprehensive 7-3 win over Italy's Gianni Campagnolo in the grand final match. This very well attended event boasted many luminaries of the pool world, and Pereira beat had to them all, including Belgium's Pascal Budo (lost to Pereira in QF 7-4) and Norway's Christian Johannessen (lost to Pereira in SF 7-1).
Switzerland's David Plattner has taken the European Seniors 8-Ball Championship title beating yet another talented Portuguese player in the final, Paulo Costa put up a valiant fight but eventually had to settle for silver place after the 7-4 final score. Sweden's Tom Eksell and Thomas Radakovits from Austria took the bronze medals.
Germany's Frank Willner won the Straight Pool, beating, yes, you've guessed it... ANOTHER Portuguese player in an EC Seniors final, this time it was Henrique Correia. Austria's Thomas Radakovits and Portugal's Manuel Pereira took bronze.
Putting to rest any doubt that this tournament belonged to the Portuguese, Henrique Correia sealed the deal by winning the 9-Ball gold with an emphatic 9-2 win over Germany's Frank Willner who settled for silver. Austria's Thomas Radakovits and Dejan Orlic from Croatia took bronze medals for reaching the semi-finals.

University Teams battling for EUSA Billiards Cup 2010
Invited University teams representing their countries are currently taking part in the first pan-European tournament of it's type in Tallinn, Estonia.
Each University was invited to enter teams comprising a maximum of five men’s athletes and three women’s athletes as well as up to four officials including a Head of Delegation - and whilst numbers have been very low in this first year, the very agreeable hospitality bodes well for the future growth of this event.
Britain is represented by 3 participants from the University of York, and our very own Pro9'er - Lee Mager, from the London School of Economics, plus Oliver Dark (Pro9's OJD) as Head of Delegation from the UK's University Pool Council.
