New distributors boost Strachan’s global reach
The manufacturer of Strachan billiard cloth has increased its global coverage by appointing two distributors in India.
With existing business partners ranging from Beijing to the US, the new distributors bring to 22 the company’s international supplier network.
The global nature of its business is emphasised in the new Milliken Woollen Speciality Products website www.milliken-wsp.com, which reflects the company’s role in the development of pool and snooker.

This includes working with organisations such as the International Billiards & Snooker Federation, which is helping to nurture talented amateur players such as Brazil’s Igor Fogueiredo, runner-up in the Federation’s world snooker championships.
Igor will now compete alongside 32 other amateurs who have earned a place on the top table for the inaugural World Open in Glasgow starting on September 18.
With the IBSF bringing its world billiard championships to India ( Aug 20/28 ) and its world snooker championships to Damascus in December, the amateur game is now fully international, a position World Snooker wishes to emulate in the professional arena.
“World Snooker’s new chairman Barry Hearn is having a major impact on the snooker calendar with new events and formats breathing new life into the professional game,” reports Milliken marketing director Duncan Kettell.
“At the same time we are seeing great interest in the amateur game in many parts of the world. We believe that countries such as India have the potential to make a big impact, in the same way snooker flourished in China and produced some outstanding players.”
In India, Strachan is now represented by Consolidated Retail Services in Bangalore and M/S Billiardo in Uttar Pradesh.
