9 Ball Gold for Russia's Anastya Nechaeva in the Girls 9 Ball Category. All photography ©EPBF / Bethan Louise Sage - used here with express permission. All Russian final for Girls 9 Ball at European Youth Championships in Netherlands!
After Germany's Simone Kunzl dominated the Girls 8 and 10 Ball events, taking the gold place in both disciplines, I found myself wishing for an "Ouschan-esque" clean sweep by the talented Stuttgart player, but it was not to be as she fell to Russia's Nataliya Seroshtanin the semi-finals of the 9-Ball and settles for bronze.
That set up an interesting all-Russian final between Seroshtan and Anastya Nechaeva - neither of these players are new to the final stages of competition as both won medals in 2009, but it was Nechaeva who was the slight favourite on paper, and true to form she took the final match with a 6:4 victory score.
The variety of action couldn't be wider at the European Pool Championships as Girls, Pupils, and Juniors all challenge themselves to represent their countries in 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball, Straight Pool and Team events being held in the sumptuous surroundings of the Golden Tulip Jagershorst this week in the Netherlands.

9 Ball hotshots in fundraiser at Rileys Ipswich
Ipswich 9 Ball pool players Craig Osborne and Phil Morgan are in training for a 24 hour charity pool match.
It will be played at Rileys Ipswich on Saturday August 7 to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Craig – ranked No 12 in Europe – and Phil – ranked No 25 in Britain – will take five-minute breaks every two hours.
Phil, 37, from Femin Close, Ipswich, who organised the event, said: “I have always really enjoyed organising events like this. It has been three years since I have taken part in a charity pool event and it is well overdue.
“The difficult bit is when the sun comes back up in the morning and you realise there’s still seven hours to go. You hit the infamous wall, it’s difficult to get through, but it’s all for a good cause.
“Rileys have always been good to us and with their help we are hoping to raise at least £600.”

 | World Cup of Pool - Venue and Draw Announced |
PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool 2010 Robinson’s Place Manila Ermita Manila Philippines www.robinsonsmalls.com www.matchroomsport.com Buy an official souvenir World Cup Of Pool mug *Exclusive!
Tuesday-Sunday 7-12 September 2010
Super Mall to Host Fifth Annual Team Pool Extravaganza
MATCHROOM SPORT is delighted to announce that the venue for the forthcoming PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool will be the Midtown Wing of Robinsons Place in Ermita, Manila.
Originally built in the 1980s, Robinsons houses more than 330 local shops, dining outlets and entertainment facilities and the Midtown Wing, built in mid-2008, makes it the largest Robinson's Mall in the Philippines.
Matchroom Sport will be installing an arena with several hundred seats and there will be balcony space for hundreds more. All the action will be covered by Solar Sports for live coverage across the Philippines.
With the first round draw already made, 2009 champions Philippines A, consisting of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante, will open their defence with a match against the unheralded team from Thailand (Nitiwat Kanjanasri & Surathep Phoochalam).
2008 Champions, Team USA, this year represented by Rodney Morris and Johnny Archer, face a tough opener in the shape of the Swedish duo of Marcus Chamat and Thomas Mehtala, while the highly fancied English pair of Karl Boyes and Daryl Peach will be optimistic as they face off against Qatar.

 | Mosconi Cup Tickets on Sale Today |
2010 PartyCasino.com Mosconi Cup York Hall Leisure Centre 5-15 Old Ford Road Bethnal Green London E2 9PJ Tel: 020 8980 2243 www.matchroompool.com www.seetickets.com - Search for "Mosconi"
Thursday-Sunday 9-12 December 2010
Tickets Expected to Go Fast for Transatlantic Tussle
MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that tickets to the 2010 PartyCasino.com Mosconi Cup are now on sale from www.seetickets.com , one of the UK’s major online ticketing agencies.
Taking place at East London’s legendary York Hall, following an eight year absence, the Mosconi Cup features two five man teams representing Europe and the USA competing over four days from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th December.
Following four years without a win, Team USA came good in Las Vegas last December as they brushed aside the European challenge and they will be back this year, determined to hang onto the trophy in the intimidating atmosphere of the York Hall.
Matchroom Sport chairman and Mosconi Cup promoter, Barry Hearn, is delighted to be bringing the Mosconi Cup back to such an exciting venue.
‘What makes the York Hall such a special venue for pool is that it is compact and manages to generate a frightening amount of atmosphere. We have room for around 400 and I am expecting these tickets to sell quickly,’ he said.
‘I can’t remember an event I have promoted in recent times, that has generated so much interest and ever since we announced the venue back in April, we have been receiving ticket enquiries on a daily basis.’

Karl Boyes is currently enjoying one of the few sporting phenomena that every participant in any game dreams; a winning streak. The 27 year old from Blackpool, simply known as 'Guapo', took the spoils over 'Dynamite' Darren Appleton in the final of the GB9 British Grand Prix by eleven racks to seven at the Barceló Daventry Hotel on Sunday 18th July 2010. In a month that has already seen Boyes take his first coveted EPBF Eurotour title (in the process topping the European rankings) and a year so far yielding a pair of WPA World titles, Boyes' first ranking win on home soil this season completes a very neat National, Continental and World 'set'.
