8 Ball in Norway!
Players are being cordially invited to enter the exciting new event happening in Norway this summer... The inaugural edition of the Nordic 8-Ball Open is hoping to fill it's field with enthusiastic players, offering a variety of packages including multiple qualifying opportunities for the final 64 player main event.
Players can expect a very warm welcome, and other activities aside from the pool, including a fun "Tapas" banquet with complimentary drink and live music too - as well as free table play until the small hours.

The 2010 BetFred.com World Snooker Champion - Neil Robertson

Neil Robertson was elated as he won the 2010 BetFred.com World Snooker Championship with an 18-13 victory over the 2006 Champion Graeme Dott in the small hours of the morning.
28 year old Neil Robertson, the plucky Australian, originally from Melbourne but now living in Cambridge entered the arena knowing that he was the bookies' favourite to take the World title when the final started, but he didn't have it all his own way.
Former World Champion Graeme Dott must have been amused that he was the underdog according to bookmaker and sponsor BetFred.com, especially after the Glaswegian notched up a superb, late night victory over England's much fancied Mark Selby in the semi-finals.
Indeed, Dott established a modest lead in the first session of the final when Robertson seemed to struggle to settle in, but gradually Robertson gained a small lead and held it until the final session where both players showed signs of fatigue, and "The Thunder from Down Under" pressed ahead for the victory.

Hitman retains title at Interpool Open in Sweden

Raj Hundal repeats victory in Sweden and retains Interpool Open title. Photograph courtesy of Urban Persson- & used by Pro9 with express permission. The Hitman celebrates second Swedish victory
This time last year Raj Hundal managed to fit in a nice little 9-Ball earner with a victory at the InterPool Open in Sweden before he shot off to Las Vegas for the Matchroom Sports production of the 2009 World Pool Masters.
This year you could have forgiven him for feeling the heat as the pressure of responsibility as the defending champion weighs him down, as "The Hitman" will be the target with everyone knowing he was the man to beat in Gävle this weekend.
In fact, nothing could be further from the truth as the West London potter cruised through the field of competitors culminating in a final 11-7 victory over Sweden's most celebrated pool player, Marcus Chamat, retaining the title for a second year.
Estonian Denis Grabe won the 10 Ball Challenge event where some of the best players paid an extra €200 to enter a strong 16 player field special event.

Snooker kid, 16, wins nationwide comp to find new Ronnie O’Sullivan
 ‘ROCKET’ JOEL POCKETS £5,000!
Young snooker ace Joel Walker got the break of his lifetime when he won the search for the new ‘Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Joel, 16, from Charnock, Sheffield, yesterday (Fri) beat seven other finalists and pocketed £5,000 when O’Sullivan picked him as the most promising player in the nationwide ‘Future Stars’ competition.
Joel, who collected his winner’s cheque from O’Sullivan at The Crucible, said: ‘I am delighted to win. Ronnie is my snooker idol. For him to pick me out as the best means a lot to me.
‘I’m dedicated to snooker and want to try and be as good as Ronnie one day. My mum and dad have always supported my snooker ambition. But the sponsor’s cheque will be a big help.’

WPBL World Professional Billiard League unveils new uniforms
World Wide Sport of Billiards, vice-president, Barry Bremner is a firm believer that Bonus Ball is to be marketed as a sport. All professional sports have one thing in common. Uniforms and a numbering system that will be incorporated into the WPBL. "Like Nascar, football and other sports, the WPBL will have numbers associated to each player." stated Bremner. "Larry and I also are a firm believer in uniforms. Image is very important when presenting yourself to the public. Our players are some of the very best players in the world and we want to represent them as such!"
Each player has chosen or was given a number. That number is incorporated into the WPBL logo design. When the audience in Winnipeg comes to the event, if they are not familiar with the players, they can look at the number and instantly know the name of the player. A larger banner will bear the name and number of each player. I will also have the country flag by each name so they know who each player represents. The American flag will be most prominent, with six players heralding from the United States.

Photographs courtesy of Andrew Warden, www.belleza-photography.co.uk Gray, Finch, and Peach victorious at GB9 Paul Medati Trophy Mark Gray put in a status-defining shift at the GB9 Paul Medati Trophy to secure his third GB9 Main Event title beating Manchester’s James Kay eleven racks to six in the final. All one hundred and forty-four British based players took their turns in the Blackpool spotlights but it was the Bourne cueist who was left standing centre-stage once again.
The most brutal single knock-out ranking tournament on the planet ran over the two days of Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April at the magnificent Barceló Imperial Hotel, a stone’s throw away from Blackpool’s famous seaside beauty and thriving nightlife. The Paul Medati Trophy is named after one of our most admired and talented players. Paul Medati was a regular face on the Professional Snooker circuit before turning his hand to American Pool where he proved the fiercest of opposition for established stars and young upstarts alike. Even into his sixties, Paul regularly made the business end of Professional competitions until in 2008, he sadly lost a short battle with Cancer, leaving behind many friends and a wealth of fond memories. The GB 9 Ball Tour wishes to thank Macmillan Cancer Support and the many players and spectators who donated generously to the charity over the three days of play. Paul’s widow, Cheryl was on hand and kindly agreed to present the 2010 GB9 Paul Medati Trophy to our winner, Mark Gray.

Surprises galore as Round 1 nears completion!
Round 1 is drawing to a close in Sheffield as just two more matches are to be completed by the end of play today - England's Shaun Murphy held an imposing 8-1 lead over Gerrard Greene from Northern Ireland, while Scotland's Stephen Maquire was 6-3 up against Englishman Stephen Lee at the overnight stage.
At 52 years of age, Steve Davis continues to amaze and surprise his fans and critics with a nail-bitingly close 10-9 victory over Mark King to progress to Round 2, setting up a match with last year's champion John Higgins, while the match between China's Ding Junhui and Stuart Pettman couldn't have been more different as Pettman could only notch up a single frame on the scoreboard before being eliminated.
