Finland's Mika Immonen would like to personally invite you to the HardTimes - Mezz 10 Ball Open. Presented by Hard Times Billiards (voted best billiard hall in America by Billiards Digest magazine) and Mezz Cues this tournament is limited to 96 players. The format will be 10 ball, race to 9, double elimination, and rack your own. The $125 entry fee is due by April 30, it will increase to $150 after April 30. There are no green fees (free tables), it will be played to WPA 10 Ball Rules and the whole event will be streamed live on The Action Report!

Immonen tops WPA Ranking List
Despite an uncharacteristic upset in the early rounds of the 2010 WPA Etisalat World 8-Ball Championships, Mika Immonen's incredible year of victories and high finishes has assured his retention of the number 1 spot on the most recently published WPA Ranking List, and with still a substantial margin between him and his nearest opposition.
Karl Boyes' victory at the World 8 Ball Championships in Fujairah has boosted his ranking with a meteoric boost to 3rd place, a mere 130 points behind 2nd place Darren Appleton.
Germany's superstar player Ralf Souquet fills out the top four spots in a ranking list that features heavily with European players in the high ranking positions.
Congratulations to Mika from all of us at Pro9.

Emma Bonney - Ladies Billiards World Champion 2010

PORTSMOUTH’S Emma Bonney continued her domination of women’s billiards by claiming her fifth world title at the Hall Green Stadium, Birmingham ( on Thursday, April 8 ).
The 33-year-old edged past Indian star Chitra Magimairaj 269-220 in the 90-minute final.
Bonney, who defeated 2006 and 2007 champion Magimairaj in last year’s final in Cambridge , collected £400 from Paul Wood, sponsor of the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association’s world championships.
She said: “I’m certainly pleased to have beaten Chitra again. I know Chitra is a good player and comes all the way over from India . That’s her main game.”
Two days after being knocked out of the women’s world snooker championships at the semi-final stage in Cambridge, the Queen of the South headed north in a bid to clinch the three-ball trophy for the third year running.
At one point Magimairaj led by 60. But Bonney clawed back the deficit with 20 minutes left and held a slim 25-point lead with five minutes to go.

Reanne Evans - World Ladies Snooker Champion 2010

Reanne’s joy of six
REANNE Evans has again raised the bar in women’s snooker by winning the world title for a record sixth year running (on Wednesday, April 7).
The undisputed world number one racked up six breaks of more than 40 in a 5-1 demolition of good friend Maria Catalano in the final at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
In a blistering display of break building, after losing the first frame, Evans compiled runs of 56, 45, 69, 52, 45 and 62.
It is now 61 matches since the 24-year-old mother-of-one, from Dudley, West Midlands , last tasted defeat on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association circuit.

Eliminations Complete for Round of Thirty-Two
The final day for qualifying in to the round of 32 in Fujairah bore few surprises but some impressive comebacks. Marcus Chamat trailed 5-0 to Won Sik Ham but reached deep to come out 8-6 on top. World #1 Mika Immonen was also in bad trouble early as he trailed Mohammed Hosani 5-1 and was still able to mount an 8-7 victory. Scott Higgins led his match most of the way but still had a tough one as he barely escaped Saeed Al Mutawe 8-7 and John Morra enjoyed the easiest road in the first round as he bested Vincent Facquet 8-3.
The second round of the day found heartbreak for one player. Mehde Rasheki played as tough as a bull to pul ahead of Vecenancio Tanio by a game but Tanio fought back and they wound up at double-hill. Rasheki clawed his way through a very tough layout to get a good shot at the eight in the side for the win. But his arm sensed the severity of the moment and betrayed him. The eight caught the nose of the side pocket and hung there, refusing to fall. Tanio ran through the table and took the eight ball for the win and Rasheki was relegated to the long wait for next year.

The World Professional Billiard League “Super Series” has been formed to not only introduce the new game of Bonus Ball to the world, but to help show case the talents of the world's best players. Bonus Ball is unique to the pool world because of the scoreboard, time clock and statistical data it brings to the game of pool. What better way to introduce it than having eight of the world's best professional players show case it!
Bonus Ball had it's debut at the US Nine Ball Open event in October in Chesapeake, Virginia. It is a game designed to show case all aspects of pool. It was designed with a time clock to make it more suitable for television and tournaments. In Bonus Ball, you also score points instead of using ball elimination. The statistical program implemented by the WPBL will give fans a lot to analyze. It will give us a picture of how the professional players rank against each other in Bonus Ball.
