Line Up Expands from 16 to 64
MATCHROOM SPORT are delighted to announce that the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters will take place from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th May at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.
And following 17 years as a 16 player invitational event, this year will see major changes to one of the longest established tournaments in pool. The field will expand to 64 players and the tournament will take place over five days instead of the traditional three.
Working in conjunction with Cuesports International, the Masters takes place during the annual BCA National 8-Ball Championships, which sees thousands of players and fans flock to the Riviera for a lengthy festival of pool.
The 64 player line up will comprise 32 international stars of the game from around the world and they will be joined 32 qualifiers who will have won through events across the globe in the run up to the main event in May.
‘The Race to Vegas’ will be getting underway with the first qualifier in Paris on Sunday 14th February and then events come thick, with tournaments scheduled from as far afield as Australia, Japan, USA, Canada as well as most of the major European countries.

2010 Paris 9-Ball Open Championship
France's Vincent Facquet has topped the field in Paris after two day's play spread over two clubs in Paris this weekend, finally beating Britain's Karl Boyes in the final by the slimmest of margins with an 11-10 score.
As usual, the opening rounds of The Paris Open were held at the Leader Club Billard 94 in Sucy-en-Brie, and then finals were held in the beautiful environs of the Cercle Clichy Montmartre.

Team Asia conquer Europe
EFREN 'THE MAGICIAN' REYES stated before the start of the Asia vs Europe 9-Ball Team Challenge tournament that Team Asia had the advantage going into the three-day event, the Filipino referring to the support from the 'sixth man' or 'home' crowd to help them stage an upset against the star-studded Team Europe.
The crowd did not disappoint as they turned out in droves, spurring Reyes and his teammates to an 8-7 victory over Europe on the final day of the tournament at the Sutra Hall of the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong yesterday.
The whole of Sutra Hall erupted as Django Bustamante, who had lost two of his three matches, redeemed himself by winning the deciding match against Nick van den Berg 5-2, to give Team Asia the title.

The GB 9 Ball Tour are pleased to announce one further chance for players to qualify for the 2010 tour season, and to play in the exciting ‘new look’ events. Due to demand for places the tour committee have made the decision to expand the tour to 144 players for the 2010 season. As a result there are now a small number of additional tour places available ( estimated 6-8 spots). These will be on offer to the top finishers at the final qualifying event, to be held at Solihull Rileys on Sunday 17th January.
The entry fee for this event is £25. Players wishing to play should sign up in advance at www.gb9balltour.com. All players must register and pay their entry fees in advance.

WPA To Conduct World 9-Ball Championship in 2010
The World Pool Association is pleased to announce that the World 9-Ball Championship will be conducted in Doha, Qatar from June 25 until July 5, 2010. Qualifiers for this event will be held in Doha from June 25 until June 27 and the main event will be conducted from June 28 until a champion is crowned on July 5.
The prize fund for this initial appearance and in 2011 in Qatar is $250,000 and will increase to $300,000 for both 2012 and 2013. Invitations will be done according to WPA rankings, and via the WPA members and should commence during the spring of 2010.
