The British Professional Pool Players Association regret to announce the retirement due to ill-health of BPPPA Founder and President, Mr Ted Bristow.

ANOTHER SUPERB day from the Europeans saw them move to within two points of winning the PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup for the first time since 2002 as they won four of the five matches today to move into a 9-6 lead in the first-to-11 competition.
Singles wins from Tony Drago, Niels Feijen and Ralf Souquet were backed up by a doubles win from the young Russian Konstantin Stepanov and Feijen. Only Archer and Van Boening’s 6-3 win over Peach and Souquet saved the American’s from a complete whitewash.

Tour extended to 128 players!
After launching the application process on 15 November GB9 received a staggering 140 applications for 96 places forcing us to stop taking further applications within just a few days of the launch. In order to accommodate as many players as realistically possible, given the size of venues and strict format, we are pleased to announce we have now extended the tour to 128 players - 32 Pro and 96 Challenge Division.
Any player who completed an application form and has already paid their first instalment is now assured of a place in the 128 field. We will publish the final list of accepted players shortly and send official confirmation to each player by email.

In a sensational turnaround of events, Europe closed out day two of the 2007 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup all square with Team USA as they won four out of the five matches to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 5-all tie.
Europe trailed 1-4 after the first day’s play but the star of the show was Malta’s Tony Drago who won two singles matches to put his side right back into contention at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.
Team captain Johan Ruijsink had a lot to think about after Thursday’s disaster but his strategy paid dividends as he left the burly Malteser out of the doubles matches to concentrate on singles play.

TEAM AMERICA opened up a comprehensive 4-1 lead after the first day’s play at the 2007 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas as the inexperienced European side failed to make any sort of mark on the proceedings.
With two doubles, two singles plus a team game where all ten players participate, the Europeans put on a collective lackluster display with no player anywhere near their best.
With the exception of Shane Van Boening, the Americans were also sub-par but their opponents offered them too many opportunities throughout the day.

Ireland’s Senior Open Invitation 9-Ball Cup
Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour are organising an open seniors (over 40’s) 9-ball event on Saturday 8th March in Frames snooker & pool club Belfast City centre.
The organisers are trying to attract 32 players from troughout Ireland and other overseas countries as well as past and present snooker players with the age limited being 40 or over on the day of the tournament (passport or driving licence must be produced as proof for entries).
The prize-money is based on money in and money out and entries are based on a first come, first served rule.

Cardiff take UPC 9-ball Championship back to Welsh soil
Riley’s Solihull was treated to a feast of pool, as Cardiff University became the first university outside England to win the Team Championship by defeating the University of Bristol in a keenly contested final. In the Billiards Boutique Individual Championship, Adam Shaw from the University of Nottingham won a one-sided final to prevent Cardiff’s Shaun Hill completing a Welsh double!
The team event had a new format this season with the two highest 1st-placed teams in each of the four groups going to the Championship play-offs with the best placed team not qualifying for the Championship going forward to the Trophy play-offs. Retaining the existing double-elimination formula, there was all to play for!

Appleton and Boyes share the spoils of war in Spain.
Entry was limited to 192 players including a strong field of 131 from the host nation of Spain - some spots were reserved for National qualifiers - and an excellent turn-out from the rest of Europe too comprising the remaining 61 players in the field.
Darren "Dynamite" Appleton stormed through the group stages, generally only conceding the occasional rack, and his brilliant form continued to the race-to-seven single elimination stages from the Last 32 onwards.
Upon reaching the race-to-eight final, low and behold, the opponent awaiting him was good friend and compatriot Karl "Buzzin" Boyes who had a similar run of form in his half of the draw.
As the final was relayed LIVE around the world by Internet streaming video viewers saw Appleton take the 8-5 victory and collect 4,000 Euros for his effort, Boyes received 2,000 for his second place.
