 | BPPPA President surprised and humbled by gift from players |
British Professional Pool Players Association B.P.P.P.A. www.bpppa.org British Professional Pool Players Association www.bpppa.org www.waynecustomcues.com
Manchester, Saturday 11 February 2007
BPPPA President Ted Bristow (right) being presented with the Wayne Holmes cue by Cue Expert and Pool Player Simon D'Vali (left) on behalf of the men, women, juniors and wheelchair players on the BPPPA tours. Beautiful Wayne Holmes custom cue presented to President from players
A little surprise was planned by the players of the British Professional Pool Player's Association (BPPPA) for Ted Bristow, the President of the official American cue sports organisation in the UK, in gratitude and recognition of his tireless efforts promoting the U.S. style discipline on these shores.
Just as the President had finished presenting the BPPPA's "Rookie of the Year" award, the shoe was placed firmly on the other foot, as he was surprised to find himself on the receiving end of an award.
Mr Bristow was the grateful recipient of a classically designed Wayne Holmes custom cue, commissioned especially for this purpose with a laser etched solid ivory panel bearing the inscription: "Ted Bristow - bpppa.org - from The Gang".
Ted, who has long been an avid collector of cue art and already owns a number of highly collectible Wayne Holmes custom cues, was delighted with the surprise gift, and after thanking everyone said, "This is absolutely magnificent, I'm lost for words. This is totally unexpected, thank you all."
Custom cue maker, Wayne Holmes, speaks regularly with Ted, and indeed, Mr Bristow will be taking a trip to North Carolina shortly to visit Wayne, but the master craftsman had to keep the cue a secret during their many chats, and we'd all like to take this public opportunity to thank Mr Holmes for his splendid efforts.

Mika Immonen seemed unstoppable. Getting stronger every match, he obliterated Japan's Takano 7-1 to reach the finals. Alcano was taking on the other Japanese player, a first year rookie named Kenji Masauchi. Alcano similarly seemed destined to be in the finals as he won 7-2. So was it Alcano's destiny to defend his title in Korea...or would it be the newly motivated Immonen making his point to the world again?

Lionel Brown wins BPPPA "Rookie of the Year"
In January, the British Professional Pool Players Association was delighted to announce the annual end of season Player of the Year Awards.
Receiving his award a little later than the other recipients due to other commitments clashing with the official ceremony last month, Lionel Brown was ecstatic to have won the prestigious "Rookie of the Year" Award, and said, "At last I'll get my picture on Pro9".

 | Updated rankings after Empire Pool Tour Liverpool results |

Updated Empire Pool Tour rankings available
There are some big movements in the rankings after the EPT's Liverpool Open, none more interesting that the incredible 28 place leap made by event winner Ben Davies. The Welshman rocketed away from his previous position of 35th and now stands proudly in the upper half of the top 16.
Other big movers are Scotland's Jayson Shaw (13th to 6th) after a great result this weekend, Frenchman Vincent Facquet established himself firmly in the top 16 after a thrilling couple of results (17th to 12th), and England's Mick Hill who has just managed to get promoted into the top 32 on the tour after only recently joining (80th to 32nd).
No change at the top with Daryl Peach reigning supreme at the No.1 spot, although things are a little more tumultuous beneath him with previous EPT No.2 Neil Raybone being sent to 4th place after being overtaken by both Mark Gray and Carl Morris.
