TEAM EUROPE had one of their best ever PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup sessions as they whitewashed their American opponents 3-0 in the Friday evening matches to claim a 6-3 lead. It was all the more impressive as all the games were singles – an area that has never been the European’s strongest suit.
Team captain Johan Ruijsink’s strategy was spot on as he threw his two rookies out early and backed them up with Ralf Souquet, probably the strongest player in the world this year.
Spain’s David Alcaide opened the proceedings, upsetting the odds as he overcame US Open champion John Schmidt by a 7-5 scoreline. It was an excellent showing from the Malaga-based Alcaide as he fought every inch of the way to secure the win.

Team Europe had an excellent Friday afternoon session as they won two of three matches to square the 2006 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup at three points apiece in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Cruise Terminal in Holland.
England ’s Imran Majid and local pick Nick van den Berg were the heroes of the hour as they saw off the dynamic American pairing of Rodney Morris and Earl St rick land in a 6-5 thriller.
The American duo carried a Mosconi Cup record of six wins and no defeats into the match but some uncharacteristic errors from them coupled with nerves of steel from their opponents carried the Europeans over the line.

USA takes early lead: Europe 1 – 2 USA
Defending champions Team USA finished the opening session of the PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup with a 2-1 lead after an entertaining evening at the Cruise Terminal, Rotterdam
The opening match of the tournament was a first for the event as all twelve players took part, playing in sequence throughout.
It looked like being Europe’s point as they reached the hill first but a Ralf Souquet miss, trying to force position on the 2 ball, allowed the Americans to square it before they ran the last rack for the victory.

 | PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup nears start |
The 2006 Mosconi Cup Cruise Terminal Wilhelminakade 699 Rotterdam Holland www.mosconicup.com www.cruiseterminalrotterdam.nl
7 - 10 December 2006
Players gathered in Rotterdam for annual show-down
All 12 players are now congregated in Rotterdam, Holland as the 13th annual PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup readies itself for the big break-off at 20.00 local time on Thursday 7th December at the Cruise Terminal.
The Mosconi Cup is pool’s most prestigious team event and features two six-man teams representing America and Europe in a four day shoot-out styled on golf’s Ryder Cup.
The event features a series of singles, scotch doubles and trebles matches and with a total of 24 points available, it’s the first team to reach 13 points who will lift the magnificent trophy on Sunday night.
For the first time in the Mosconi Cup there are two additions to the format; the possibility of a drawn match in which case the holders, Team USA, would retain the trophy, and two matches featuring all twelve players competing.

The super staff at Mickey Flynns Results from Mickey Flynns 8-Ball Competition
47 runners turned up on a very wet and windy Sunday and were rewarded with the best bar staff in the business and 25% cash added to the prize fund!
It's always a pleasure to visit Mickey Flynns, and this visit was no exception, indeed it was even better because it had been so long since they have held a "big" event. There were a lot of old reunions with old faces and you always get such a hearty welcome from the regulars.
You can see from the player list that the event drew an absolutely stellar field and the play was of the highest quality. Yes, it's another Mickey Flynns success story... Blimey, they even had SCOREBOARDS!
I'm looking forward to the start of the Mickey Flynns 8-Ball Tour.

Christopher Bristow receives his trophy from Tournament Organiser Simon D’Vali
Youngest ever Mens tournament winner?
He must be in contention. Eleven (yes, eleven) year old Christopher Bristow pulled out an amazing tournament victory at the Leeds Rileys Open 9 Ball event. Beating several top players in the process. Young Christopher took his win with amazing dignity and grace, a credit to himself and his father, BPPPA President, Ted Bristow.
