In his first match at the Dynamic Billard Italian Open, current Euro-Tour and European ranking leader Mark Gray (GBR) has suffered a rough defeat against Christian Sparrenloev-Fischer (SWE).
„I need to improve rapid or home it will be!!!“ stated Gray on his Facebook page after today’s match. Obviously, he did not play his best game. But also his young opponent from Sweden took care about not letting Gray playing like he wanted to. Sparrenloev kept the match open at all times and made sure that Gray could not get an advantage over him. In fact, as the match unfolded it turned out that the opponents took racks in turn and the distance between the two was never bigger than one point in difference. After 14 racks, the match was levelled at 7:7.

 | Dynamic Billard renew their sponsorship deal with the IBPF/EPBF |
www.eurotouronline.com
Click the picture to view the full size image (use "back" to return here) The long standing partnership continues...
As the launch of the 2017 season is upon us with the first Eurotour stop starting in Treviso Italy, the IBPF are pleased to announce that Dynamic Billard will again be the exclusive table supplier for all EPBF events. „A long-time partner of the EPBF, Dynamic Billard have shown that their reliability and service to the pool sport is second to none and we really look forward to more years with great equipment“, IBPF president David Morris said.
The Eurotour, now entering its 26th year has also attracted new sponsorship, after a lot of work and efforts, we continue to make the tour stronger and we have now secured two of the most known companies in billiards, Predator and Biljardexperten who come on board and will partner the EPBF over the coming season. „Predator is a terrific brand to have with us“, said David Morris, „it’s always great to team up with the best and I look forward to a great partnership with them.“ „The same can be said about Biljardexperten, another massive supplier who caters for billiards and the leisure industry all over the world, it’s a brand that we have been chasing for a while now and we are very happy to have them with us“, Morris continued.
On to Italy and for the first Eurotour stop this year, 187 players from more than 30 countries from all over the World have announced for this prestigious event. US player Shane van Boening is among the participants, just like Mohammed Al-Khashawi from Kuwait or Nguyen Phuc Long from Vietnam. Of course, they will be joined by more intercontinental players as well as the European elite who will gather in Best Western Premium BHR Hotel in Treviso, Northern Italy, about 30km north of lovely Venice.
The contestants will go to battle for the 36.000,-€ in prize money with 4.500,-€ going to the winner alone. Also, important ranking points will be at stake for the players. The Dynamic Billard Italian Open will feature its first matches on Thursday morning at 09:00 CET with the final scheduled for Saturday, February 25th, 17:30 local time.

 | 2017 Dafabet World Pool Masters - Alcaide is the Master! |
The Dafabet World Pool Masters XXIV Tercentenary Sports Hall Victoria Stadium Bayside Road Gibraltar UNITED KINGDOM www.matchroompool.com - wpm - facebook - twitter www.buytickets.gi - tickets www.sky.com
Friday - Sunday 17-19 February 2017
Click the image to view the full size photograph - use "back" to return here. Alcaide is the Master! The Final David Alcaide (ESP) 8-7 Jayson Shaw (SCO) Semi-Finals Albin Ouschan (AUT) 6-8 David Alcaide (ESP) Jayson Shaw (SCO) 8-3 Chang Jung Lin (TPE) SPAIN’S DAVID ALCAIDE is the 2017 World Pool Masters champion as he beat Jayson Shaw in a thrilling final that went down to the final rack. The Malaga man, who now lives near Madrid, had beaten a slew of star names en route to ultimate victory – Ralf Souquet, Shane Van Boening, Albin Ouschan and finally Jayson Shaw. Alcaide was so overcome with emotion at the end that he needed to leave the arena and compose himself before the trophy presentation by The Hon Steven Linares, the Gibraltarian Minister of Sport. The gutsy Spaniard picked up a $20,000 payday and more importantly joins a list all-time greats of the game who have held aloft this coveted trophy. The match itself was a thriller from start to finish. “This trophy is for my children,” said Alcaide. “Thank you to Matchroom for the invitation to the tournament and thank you to all of my fans. I hope to play here next year and defend the title.”
Shaw had been gifted a free pass in Sunday afternoon’s quarter final when Alex Pagulayan missed the 9 ball with the score at hill-hill, and he took advantage to cruise past Chang Jung Lin in the semi-final. Alcaide overcame a shaky start against Albin Ouschan in his last four match to dominate the table and run out an 8-6 winner. As the final match unravelled, they shared the opening four racks before Shaw moved into a 4-2 lead in the race to eight encounter. Alcaide took the next and despite some nervous moments tied the match up in the eighth game. Shaw though missed the brown 7 down the rail to give his opponent a great chance to clear which he did to take the lead for the first time at 5-4. The Spaniard came up with a dry break in the next and Shaw seized the chance to run out for 5-5. Shaw took the next running out, but Alcaide got back to the table in the twelfth game and made a great run out to bring a roar from his bank of fans. The 8 and the 9 were stuck together but his clever positional play allowed him to get behind the 8 ball and push it into the centre pocket. Share this article on FaceBook

Down to the last four in Gibraltar Quarter Finals Albin Ouschan (AUT) 8-4 Naoyuki Oi (JAP) Jayson Shaw (SCO) 8-7 Alex Pagulayan (CAN) Omar Al Shaheen (KUW) 3-8 Chang Jung Lin (TPE) THE FINAL THREE quarter-final matches were completed at the 24th annual Dafabet World Pool Masters at the Tercentenary Hall in Gibraltar. The victorious players were Albin Ouschan, Jayson Shaw and Chang Jung Lin who will return this evening for their semi-final matches. Taking place in Gibraltar, the Masters sees 16 top international players competing in the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar to determine the destination of the $20,000 top prize. Click the image to view the full size photograph - use "back" to return here. Internet sensation Naoyuki Oi ended his run at the 2017 Dafabet World Pool Masters as Albin Ouschan cruised past him for an 8-4 win. The Japanese’ bizarre post-match interview with Sky Sports’ presenter Tony Wrighton yesterday had gone viral overnight registering views of over a million on several sites. It was even shown on Australian TV. Commented Ouschan, “I didn’t play much better than the first match (where he beat Mika Immonen in the first round). I made two easy mistakes, twice on the same ball, but still I made four or five run outs which gave me the win in the end. Share this article on FaceBook
