Nick van den Berg wins Dynamic Billard Treviso Open and Euro-Tour 2013
In an intense final match, Nick van den Berg (NED) defeated Phil Burford (GBR) 8:5.
The final match was determined by safety play in the beginning. After seven racks, van den Berg was leading 4:3 when Burford had an open layout in front of him. He got to the 10-ball and ran a bit out of position. However, he managed to pocket the 10-ball but shockingly scratched with the cue ball. Instead of tying the match at 4:4, suddenly he found himself trailing 3:5. Van den Berg made use of that situation and carried the advantage through until he was on the hill, leading 7:5. It was again Burford at the table then. He ran out of position for the 8-ball. He tried hard and left a very tough shot for van den Berg. „El Niño“ aimed at the ball and fired it in. He then pocketed the remaining two balls to wear the crown at the Dynamic Billard Treviso Open 2013. Van den Berg did not only take the title, he also won the Euro-Tour series 2013 by finishing as ranked number 1 player.
„It feels great to win the tournament“, stated van den Berg after the final, „but it feels even greater to be number 1 at the end of the year.“
„All in all I’m quite happy with my second place here in Treviso. Hats off to Nick, he played a very good match against me and deserved the victory“, added Burford.

TEAM EUROPE completed their finest ever PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup win, as they beat the Americans 11-2, the second biggest winning margin in the 20 year history of the event. Needing three more points going into the third day, they reeled off the first three matches to hand out a humiliating defeat to the USA.
It was Europe’s fourth win on the trot and their sixth in seven years. With a star-packed team, many felt that this was the Americans best chance in a while but after losing the first day 5-0, the writing was on the wall. America won two points on Tuesday but all in all it was a lame performance that will leave many questions.
It was Niels Feijen, partnered by Mika Immonen, who downed the winning 9 ball and the final point of this year’s event gave the Dutchman his second Most Valuable Player trophy in three years.
European captain, Johan Ruijsink was thrilled with his fifth victory at the helm; “I am very, very proud of my team. They played like lions all week, they came out of the starting blocks really heavy on the Americans and I don’t think they recovered. I am really sorry for my buddy Johnny Archer because it is his first time as a captain in the modern age and I think he deserved better than that. He is a great captain, a great motivator, and I feel sorry for him because 11-2 doesn’t reflect the difference in quality.”

Mick Hill became the first ever winner of the GB9 UK Open on Tuesday, as he beat Phil Burford 11-7.
Hill recovered from a shaky start to clinch the title, in a final in which neither player really got going.
The event was at its best as it progressed onto the quarter-finals and a move to the main tables.
Burford comfortably dispatched of Shaun Storry 10-1 and Ruslan Chinahov advanced over Juan Carlos Exposito, winning six consecutive racks to romp to a 10-4 victory.
The best games of the round were undoubtedly on tables one and two.
Kev Simpson and Michael Valentine shared an 18-rack thriller, as Valentine just edged out Simpson to win 10-8. On the hill at 9-7, Valentine kissed off the nine ball after potting the eight and had to try to run the nine all the way up table. He missed, and Simpson stepped in to make it 9-8.
After a long exchange of safeties in the final rack, Simpson missed a straight 8 and Valentine finally clinched the match.

ONLY A MIRACLE now will prevent Europe winning their fourth consecutive PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup as they once again got the better of their American opponents, winning three out of the five matches on Tuesday and now need just three points for victory.
For the Americans at least they can take heart from the fact that they opened their account and are still alive in the event, but otherwise it was another disappointing day for the legion of American fans at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The USA will need to win at least three out of tomorrow’s five matches to take the 20th Mosconi Cup into a final day.
“We won another session and that is the most important thing,” said European captain Johan Ruijsink.
“The Americans came out a little bit better than yesterday and I think that we didn’t really step up. Niels played a perfect game, Ralf had a nice comeback and in the end we won the session and that is the most important thing for us.

TEAM EUROPE created the biggest first day lead in PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup history as they won all five matches at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to establish a 5-0 lead and give the USA a huge mountain to climb.
A win in the team game got things underway, before two doubles victories and singles wins for Mika Immonen and Darren Appleton piled on the misery for the Americans. The much-vaunted change in the break rules saw an inordinate number of dry breaks and it was the Europeans who played the better pool and made the least number of mistakes to build up a mammoth lead.
Commented European captain Johan Ruijsink, “It has never happened before and it is such a huge lead that you cannot be anything other than delighted. I expect the Americans will bounce back but 5-0 is great.
“We prepared well, we were ready to fight, ready for battle, ready for war. I think that showed immediately in the team match where we showed dominance and we kept that going for the whole session. I am really delighted.”

Aslam Earns No.1 Spot as BWPPA 2013 Tour Concludes
The concluding tour stop of Europe’s largest wheelchair pool tour was held at the Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley, with the Predator British Wheelchair 9-Ball Championship, which attracted a strong field, including a new player on tour Joe Atherton. This was the final event for some of the tour's players before heading off to the World 9 Ball Championships in South Africa from 7-13 December; see here for more details of that event.
Aslam Abubaker became the only player in the tour's history to deny Roy Kimberley top spot on the tour at the end of a season, as he won his third event in a row on the BWPPA tour by defeating Tony Southern 7-6. Kimberley went into the event knowing that only finishing 2 places above Abubaker could get him back to the No.1 spot.

Another 3 excellent games the weekend at Morley International
We saw 3 players leave ecstatic, and 3 wondering what went wrong.
Matty Ramsden got off to a somewhat slow start v Ross Doyle in the early kick off. Ross, marching into a 4-1 lead, was playing some good stuff, but Matty raised his game considerably and took the lead at 9-8. From there, he never looked back and closed out the game 15-11 to take home the £600.
Nishant Barot and Lee Hinchliffe faced off in a surprisingly pedestrian affair. Both players are usually renowned for their attacking games but this one seemed to be the complete opposite. Lee took an early lead, and extended this to 8-4 but Nish stepped up a level and evened the game out at 11-11. A couple of frames were shared until Nish again raised his game on his stream debut, eventually running out 17-14 winner against ex England Junior, Lee. Nish was delighted after the game, taking home £1200 for his efforts and speaking to Mark Lunn afterwards had this to say, "I slowed it down a little knowing that Lee was an excellent attacking player, and my game plan seemed to work. The table was brilliant, one of the very best and I can't wait to be back".
Finally, at 7 pm came the one we had been waiting for. Ex top IPA tour player Keith Jones v ex England U21 player Stefan Risidi. Stefan couldn't get going early doors, with the break letting him down somewhat. Keith took full advantage storming into a 9-3 lead. Stefan staged a mini comeback taking the next 3 with some top finishing, but Keith steadied the ship and took a commanding 15-7 lead. Stefan wasn't himself, but every mistake was punished brilliantly by Keith who rolled back the years to produce some stunning shot making, and an excellent finish at 20-11 saw him close out the game and take home the £2,000 pot. Both players were very complimentary about the table and playing conditions afterwards, and both praised each others games with Stefan saying, "If I could have found a break, it would have been closer but I made too many mistakes against a player you can't afford to do that against. Hats off to Keith, he played very well, I just couldn't seem to get going"
Mark and Danny would like to thank all players an supporters who made the effort to support the club.
Also huge thanks once again to the stream sponsors www.betsofmates.com, and to Big Dave at www.pro9.co.uk for his continued support and effort.
We will be back on 7th December with an absolute cracker, Clint I'Anson taking on John Sullivan. See you there folks!!

 | McDermott raises money for Triple Neg Breast Cancer Foundation |

McDermott raises money for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation
MENOMONEE FALLS, WI (November 21, 2013) – McDermott Cue Mfg. LLC is a leading manufacturer and worldwide distributor of pool cues, performance shafts and billiard accessories. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, McDermott raised $800 for the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
During the month of October, a portion of the proceeds from select pink cues, cases and apparel items were donated to support the fight against breast cancer. With the help of their supporters, McDermott was able to raise $800 for the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information on the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation and how you can help, please visit www.tnbcfoundation.org.
Understanding Triple Negative Breast Cancer
It is now commonly understood that breast cancer is not one form of cancer, but many different "subtypes" of cancer.
These subtypes of breast cancer are generally diagnosed based upon the presence, or lack of, three "receptors" known to fuel most breast cancers: estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). The most successful treatments for breast cancer target these receptors.
Unfortunately, none of these receptors are found in women with triple negative breast cancer. In other words, a triple negative breast cancer diagnosis means that the offending tumor is estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative and HER2-negative, thus giving rise to the name "triple negative breast cancer." On a positive note, this type of breast cancer is typically responsive to chemotherapy. Because of its triple negative status, however, triple negative tumors generally do not respond to receptor targeted treatments. Depending on the stage of its diagnosis, triple negative breast cancer can be particularly aggressive, and more likely to recur than other subtypes of breast cancer.
