Another 3 excellent games the weekend at Morley International

We saw 3 players leave ecstatic, and 3 wondering what went wrong.

Matty Ramsden got off to a somewhat slow start v Ross Doyle in the early kick off. Ross, marching into a 4-1 lead, was playing some good stuff, but Matty raised his game considerably and took the lead at 9-8. From there, he never looked back and closed out the game 15-11 to take home the £600.

Nishant Barot and Lee Hinchliffe faced off in a surprisingly pedestrian affair. Both players are usually renowned for their attacking games but this one seemed to be the complete opposite. Lee took an early lead, and extended this to 8-4 but Nish stepped up a level and evened the game out at 11-11. A couple of frames were shared until Nish again raised his game on his stream debut, eventually running out 17-14 winner against ex England Junior, Lee. Nish was delighted after the game, taking home £1200 for his efforts and speaking to Mark Lunn afterwards had this to say, "I slowed it down a little knowing that Lee was an excellent attacking player, and my game plan seemed to work. The table was brilliant, one of the very best and I can't wait to be back".

Finally, at 7 pm came the one we had been waiting for. Ex top IPA tour player Keith Jones v ex England U21 player Stefan Risidi. Stefan couldn't get going early doors, with the break letting him down somewhat. Keith took full advantage storming into a 9-3 lead. Stefan staged a mini comeback taking the next 3 with some top finishing, but Keith steadied the ship and took a commanding 15-7 lead. Stefan wasn't himself, but every mistake was punished brilliantly by Keith who rolled back the years to produce some stunning shot making, and an excellent finish at 20-11 saw him close out the game and take home the £2,000 pot. Both players were very complimentary about the table and playing conditions afterwards, and both praised each others games with Stefan saying, "If I could have found a break, it would have been closer but I made too many mistakes against a player you can't afford to do that against. Hats off to Keith, he played very well, I just couldn't seem to get going"

Mark and Danny would like to thank all players an supporters who made the effort to support the club.

Also huge thanks once again to the stream sponsors www.betsofmates.com, and to Big Dave at www.pro9.co.uk for his continued support and effort.

We will be back on 7th December with an absolute cracker, Clint I'Anson taking on John Sullivan. See you there folks!!

Bumper Crowd for Live Moneymatch Action from Morley International

Another excellent day's action this Saturday 23rd November at Morley International with 2 more debutants attempting to leave town with full pockets, followed by...

The final game of the evening at 7pm could and should be an absolute cracker. Keighley born stream regular Stefan Risidi takes on the other stream debutant in the form of London's Welsh Wizard Keith Jones. Stefan, a former England U21 international, thrives on the big occasion and is chomping at the bit for what is unquestionably his toughest test yet in a money game. Keith will have a decent following from the capital, with a minibus full of fans heading up to see if their man can recapture the form which saw him take an IPA tour event in 2001 (Beating Keighley's Chris Melling 8-4 in the final), reach the world quarter finals 10 years ago and was Welsh ranked no1 for 3 consecutive years from 2001-04. Keith has only recently taken the game back up after a break, but showed that class is permanent by performing well on this seasons UK Pool Tour, and reaching the last 32 of the WEPF World Championships, only losing out to one of the games brightest young talents in Guisseppe D'Imperio 8-7. The pot for this one currently stands at a minimum of £2,000, and will be officiated by world class referee, Peter Arundale.

At 12pm, we see two local lads battling it out, as Matty Ramsden and Ross Doyle go head to head for a minimum pot of £600. Both have big game experience with Matty having previously beaten Matt Schofield, and Ross tasting success in a the 2nd game of a double header against Elliott Glover for £1000.

3pm could potentially see a huge crowd, as the enigmatic and often outspoken Nishant Barot of Preston rolls into town with his large following to take on Hull's Lee Hinchliffe for a minimum of £1000. Nish, affectionately known as 'The Bombay Blizzard' has rapidly increased his reputation in the last 6 months, beating the likes of Keith Brewer in recent tournaments and reaching the semi finals of the main event of the Blue Dolphin weekend of Pool, only losing out to eventual winner Craig Waddingham. The question is, can his game back up his mouth on his TV debut? Lee is a former junior England international, and his only game on stream so far resulted in a nailbiting 18-17 loss to fellow England team-mate Sam Hirst. Lee is also making waves in the game, and was a semi-finalist in last weekend's Morley Series taking out some top players along the way, including Mark Lunn and Liam Stanley, so he will be in familiar surroundings and will be very confident come game time.

A days action not to be missed…..and if your mind wasn’t already made up, its £2.60 a pint!!!!! See you all there.

Morley International Pool Series - Update

Below are the overall rankings after event 5. Massive congrats to Nathan Prescott who has dominated the 2013 Morley Pool Series and topped the rankings with a massive 12 point gap over yours truly! Two finals and a semi final from 5 events is some going in tournaments of this standard, well done pal!

The players who have green numbers next to them have qualified for the Grand Final as long as they are fully paid up, congrats. I would like the players in the top 16 to confirm their attendance if possible and we can get any outstanding balances for missed events and move down the rankings if required.

The format for the grand final will be straight KO minimum races to 7. I will be releasing all balance sheets tomorrow detailing all money in/out for the season for clarity.

Anything I've missed, please ask!

Cheers peeps and thanks to each and every one of you for attending this year.
