Mick Hill - 2013 Paul Medati Trophy Champion
PRESS RELEASE 21 APRIL 2013
Players old and new were out in force at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Telford as Mick Hill picked up his first piece of GB9 silverware at the 2013 Paul Medati Trophy.
This competition always draws out the memories from all players but especially the band of players who were fortunate enough to share their time with Paul Medati him on the inaugural season of GB9, and more recent players will likewise have been familiar with Mark Lovell. Despite them falling to the affliction of cancer, both men have cemented themselves forever in the thoughts of players across the tour and indeed the world. Their warm, kind and humorous natures brought a welcome smile to the faces of many in what is often the fast paced nature of 9-ball pool.
The two finalists in this years Paul Medati Trophy brought two laid back but highly talented cueists to the table the relatively new face to 9-ball in Dudleys Mick Hill, and a stalwart of the tour in the form of Craig Osborne from Ipswich.

Nick van den Berg is EPBF Player of the Year 2012
The Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes have come to an end.
In the men's division, team Netherlands with Niels Feijen, Nick van den Berg and Huidji See won the Gold with a 2:1 victory over a strong team Finland which were Aki Heiskanen, Valteri Virtanen and Petri Makkonen.
In the women's division, team Sweden with Louise Furberg and Caroline Roos captured the title with a 2:0 victory over team Bulgaria with Marya Levova and Kristina Zlateva.

WPBL Press Release - Rasson Billiards Confirmed As Official Table Sponsor
The World Professional Billiard League has announced a partnership with the Rasson Billiard Manufacturing Co. based in Jiujiang City, China, as the official 2013 WPBL table sponsor. As a result, all matches in this year's inaugural WPBL season will be featured on Rasson brand new Victory table.
Rasson Billiard Manufacturing Co. is a branch of Rasson Billiard Slate Co., which was originally founded in 1990 and has a long history of producing quality slate that is licensed and used worldwide by many notable phenolic hpl table manufacturers. In 2003, Rasson Billiards was formed and began supplying billiard tables and accessories globally. Presently, Rasson is the only manufacturer that produces both billiard tables and slate in the world.

8-ball competition ended in Portoroz
The Dynamic Billard European 8-ball Champions 2013 are David Alcaide (ESP), Line Kjoersvik (NOR) and Fred Dinsmore (IRL).
Alcaide terminated young Jim Chawki (SWE) with 8:4. Both players performed on a high level but it could be seen that Alcaide had much more experience on his side. Chawki played a great semi-final. He even managed to get a 3:1 lead over Alcaide. But then the tide turned in the match. Alcaide played much stronger and ran out 4 of his first 5 racks. That might have impressed Chawki. The Swede also scratched on his break shot two consecutive times in the 10th and 12th rack which probably broke his neck in this final match.
Alcaide punished his mistakes and jumped up when he pocketed the 8-ball to win the match with 8:4.

Reanne compiles two century breaks winning world snooker championship final
The 27-year-old accounted for world number one Maria Catalano 6-3 in the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Associations (WLBSA) showpiece event at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
Reflecting on her remarkable record, Evans said: Nobody ever dreams about doing things like that. Im over the moon.
I play every tournament like its a fresh one otherwise theres too much pressure. The pressures on me to lose it not for them to win it.
It was the fourth time in five years that the friends from Dudley, West Midlands, had met in the world final.
Evans kicked off with a 100 clearance in the first frame and added a 60 and a 117 clearance straight after the mid-session interval to take a 5-2 lead.
Catalano, 30, still seeking a first world title, pulled one back with a run of 44 but Evans wrapped things up in the next.
Its good to have two centuries, especially in a final, said the newly-crowned champion. Its good to bring it off the practice table because I do it all the time in practice.
But she added: Its hard to get used to the tables because Im not used to club tables any more.

Many surprises in Portoroz at the Dynamic Billard European Pool Championships
In an intense battle, "The Maharaja" Imran Majid (GBR) defeated 10-ball World Champion Huidji See (NED) by a hair's breadth 8:7.
It looked like it would be Majid's match from the very beginning. He was leading 6:3 after nine racks and See seemed to be fighting with himself and his performance. But See never gave up. He started a great comeback, tied the match at 6:6 and even went on the hill with 7:6. The smell of defeat came to Majid and he would not want to lose this match. Instead, he fought his way back and tied the match at 7:7. After almost two hours of hard fighting, Majid had the better end in his favor and finished the match with a lucky 8:7 for him.

Gold Medals for Czuprynska, Sniegocki and Deklerck
The Gold medalists are Mateusz Sniegocki (POL), Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) and Kurt Deklerck (BEL).
The final match in the men's division between Sniegocki and Konstantin Stepanov (RUS) was a demonstration of power from the Polish player. He seemed to be so full of self-confidence. He played rock solid and punished every mistake that Stepanov made without mercy. "It's good to hear that I look very self-confident", stated a modest Sniegocki after the final, "sometimes though I did not feel like that", he said, smiling. "I think I did not give many chances to my opponents today. Maybe that was the key for my success today. I feel very happy about that Gold Medal". Sniegocki defeated Stepanov clearly with 8:3 and Stepanov never had a chance to get into the match at all.
