All set for Tuesday’s big break off
DEFENDING PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool champions Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann of Team Germany know they have the right stuff to become the first team to win back to back titles in pool’s premiere scotch doubles event. But as the 32, two-man teams representing 31 nations gear up for what promises to be 6 days of epic showdowns beginning Tuesday in Manila, the German duo finds themselves in a completely different circumstance from last year.
Coming into the 2011 World Cup of Pool in Manila, both players were riding a wave of confidence brought on by individual success. Souquet had come off a massive win in the World Pool Masters only the week prior, his first ever victory in Manila after dozens of tries. Hohmann had just won a big straight pool event in the United States. And the pair was ravenous for doubles gold.
“It was a tournament we really wanted to win,” Souquet said during a press conference Monday in Manila at the Robinson’s Place Mall, the site of the 2012 World Cup of Pool.
“Two years prior to that we felt we should have won against Efren (Reyes) and Django (Bustamante). We kind of felt that that tournament in 2009 was stolen from us. We really wanted to win this event and we were hungry.”

Three tournaments over this long weekend make this an interesting opportunity, especially as there is guaranteed added prize money in each of the events - always good value!
There are two smaller events on the Friday - no elite players are permitted in the 16 player "Slimboy" event, then the field is opened to all comers for the "Fatboy" - a lot of fun should be had by all at these events, and they perform a useful warm-up function for the main event, The Olso Open, on the Saturday and Sunday.

Dyno and Nick still in the hot seats
FOLLOWING THE conclusion of the German Open at Brandenburg on the Euro Tour, the top five players on the 2012 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup rankings stay the same with World 9 Ball Champion Darren Appleton top of the pile, closely followed by Nick Van den Berg.
Filling up the next three spots are veteran Oliver Ortmann who is looking to make his ninth Mosconi Cup appearance and first since 2004, Greece's Nikos Ekonomopoulos, who has come out of nowhere in his breakthrough season, and England's Chris Melling, an impressive Mosconi winner last December.
There are still plenty of players in contention for the five team places but big guns like Ralf Souquet and Niels Feijen will have to pull out all the stops if they are to give themselves a chance.

Kimberley retains 10-ball crown and closes the gap at the top of the rankings
Rileys Cardiff was the venue for the 2nd Annual British Wheelchair 10-ball Pool Championship on the 18/19th August 2012.
Roy “The Sandman” Kimberley ended a run of 5 successive semi-final defeats, as he won his first event in a year on the BWPPA tour.
Kimberley got his campaign off to a flying start with a 7-1 win over Frankie ‘Hot-Wheels’ Gillen. It was another 7-1 win for Kimberley in the next round but this time he faced much tougher opposition in Phil Hendrickson, who had already recorded a 7-3 win over fellow Welshman Craig Welsh. That took Kimberley through to a semi-final meeting with old foe Tony Southern who had won the last 2 events, replacing Kimberley at the top of the rankings. It looked like Southern had continued his run of good form, despite an earlier 7-4 loss to Irishman Fred Dinsmore, by opening up a 5-2 lead, and looked in command, but Kimberley fought back to win 4 in a row to take a 6-5 lead.

Ga Young Kim celebrates a 4 year dream come true
Manila, Philippines- Korea's Ga Young Kim finally overcame her demons to claim World Championship glory for her country. Kim on her second appearance in the finals of the the Yalin Women's World 10-Ball Championship, faced last year's #1 in the world Siming Chen of China, and completely dominated the championship match. Kim's victory has put South Korea back on top of women's pool.
The Dragon Promotions produced 4th Annual Yalin Women's World 10-Ball Championship is the most followed women's event of the year. In the host country of the Philippines, it is the biggest female sporting event of the country. The event is supported by Asian table mammoth Yalin Billiards, advanced cue engineer OB Cues, long lasting Championship Tour Edition Cloth, top playing Aramith Balls, Tour Edition Chalk, and #1 TV network broadcaster ABS-CBN. WITH THE PARTYPOKER.NET World Cup of Pool scheduled for Tuesday 4th to Sunday 9th September in Manila, the draw has now been made and there are some very exciting first round matches as 32 teams from around the world set their sights on the $60,000 top prize.
Taking place at Robinsons Place Mall in Ermita, the opening match of the tournament features defending champions Germany (Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann) looking to open their account against qualifiers Serbia. The rolex datejust replica watch for different men for free online.
