Preliminary rounds finished in 9-ball individuals

Wednesday, 28 March 2012: After heavy fighting, Konrad Piekarski (POL) in the end was able to eliminate Evgen Novosad (UKR) out of the 9-ball tournament with 9:7.
It was tough for Piekarski to find into the match. Novosad played more solid in the beginning and used his chances to gain a 3:1 advantage over Piekarski. Then suddenly one could feel a jolt in Piekarski’s game. The youngster who will soon turn 19 years seemed to get more confidence in his performance. He played much stronger and manage3d to tie the match at 6:6. Novosad seemed to be shocked and could not focus on his game anymore. That’s when Piekarski saw his chance and stone cold won the racks which were needed to take him into the single elimination round of the final 64 players.

Monday, 26 March 2012: In a thrilling encounter, Andreas Gerwen (SWE) wrestled Zoran Svilar (SRB) down with 8:4.
Monday, 26 March 2012: In a classic match, Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) ousted Bruno Muratore (ITA) with 8:5. Chinakhov opened the duel with a run out after he won the lag. Muratore gives him the right answer and ran the next rack, making the score 1:1. That was repeated though both of the contestants made a mistake each, but the score after 4 racks was 2:2. All even! It could already be noted then that Chinakhov’s break seemed to be a bit better and stronger than Muratore’s. Again, Chinakhov played without any error and seized his game. Then Muratore played a mistake in the next rack and allowed Chinakhov to take a 2-point advantage over him. All of a sudden, there seemed to be a change in Chinakhov’s body language. He looked like he was disgusted with his own game and started missing positions and finally left a shot for Muratore which allowed the Italian to close the gap and tie the match again at 4:4.

Sunday, 25 March 2012: Jasmin Ouschan (AUT), Dominic Jentsch (GER) and Daniel Luton (GBR) are the 2012 European 10-ball Champions!
Jasmin Ouschan had to deal with youngster Natalya Seroshtan (RUS) in the women’s final. That was the exact rematch from last year, when the encounter was a clear affair for Ouschan. Seroshtan, 14-years old at the time, lost 1:6. This year, Ouschan still seemed to be the high favourite for the title. But the match turned out into an unexpected thriller.
Seroshtan played much better than last year. “She was already playing well last year but she became much stronger now. She played extremely well”, said Ouschan after the final match. Ouschan seemed to struggle much and could not get her momentum going. “I just returned from Taiwan before I came here and I feel like I have not enough power at the moment”, Ouschan stated. Seroshtan was even able to get a 4:2 lead over Ouschan. But then Jasmin focussed and grew stronger.

WPA Report: March 2012 By Ian Anderson
Dear All.
I am pleased to send you all this update report on the latest happenings of the WPA.
Although we are three months into 2012, we have held only one event so far, the men’s World 8-Ball Championship. But the rest of the year looks set to be a very busy time. I have an event calendar following that will demonstrate just how busy we expect to be.
As you’re aware, last year was a very successful year for the WPA, as we held a record number of events and payed out a record amount of prize money. We thought that it would be hard to see that being improved by much, especially considering the tough global financial situation. I am, however, very pleased to say that this year we are on course to easily surpass 2011’s efforts.
Growth in China continues. While we first thought that Beijing may not have an event this year, I am delighted to report that Beijing will indeed host an event and it will be the World Teams. Details are being finalised, but it is expected to feature four person teams, each team comprised of three men and one woman.

 | Cash Challenge Weekend at Legends Pool Bar |
CASH CHALLENGE WEEKEND Legends Pool Bar Silks Way Off South Street Braintree Essex CM7 3GB Tel: 07540 096631 Web: www.legends-pool.co.uk Email: info@legends-pool.co.uk
Saturday/Sunday 24/25 March 2012
An invitation to Cash Challenge Weekend at Legends Pool Bar
Players of all standards were invited to put their skills to the test and their money on the line by offering open cash challenges to be held this weekend at Legends Sports Bar in Braintree, Essex. The response was tremendous, and now there's a real buzz around the South of England with almost everyone knowing at least one of the players slated for an action match this weekend.
Legends is only a modest size club, but they have big ideas, and are certainly not afraid to break the mold to try new formulas, and they've been rewarded with some super successes and a reputation as very competent organisers of novel events with innovative formats.
The action kicks off early on Saturday afternoon, and all are welcome to come and spectate the first of what many hope will become a regular series of events. Let's face it, when was the last time you just relaxed and went to a pool club to just enjoy watching some pool and soak up the atmosphere? Do it this weekend, and maybe make it a bit interesting with a friendly wager with your mates over a beer or three?

Two new European Champions in straight pool
Champions Line Kjoersvik and Nick van den Berg. Foto: EPBF/DK Kjoersvik and van den Berg take the crowns
Friday, 23 March 2012: Line Kjoersvik from Norway and Nick van den Berg from the Netherlands are the newly crowned European Champions 2012 in straight pool.
In an all Dutch clash, Nick van den Berg managed to roll over Niels Feijen with 125:18. Van den Berg was better in all aspects. “It was a long day. I pocketed 750 plus today plus the ones that I’ve missed, so probably around 800 balls”, said van den Berg, “I feel like I have a heavy jetlag”. That came right after the final from the new straight pool champion.
The match was unexpectedly one-sided. Nick ran away with 72:11 and even 100:11 and Niels never seemed to get his game in gear. “I think he struggled a bit with the conditions”, said van den Berg when asked about his opponent’s performance.

 | The Pro Shop - A New Owner - A New Era! |
The Pro Shop The lowest prices on the Internet The best product range The friendliest service anywhere theproshop@pro9.co.uk
Tuesday 20 March 2012
Click the image to visit The Pro Shop now! An Ambition Fulfilled - The Pro Shop united as Big Dave becomes 100% owner !
In April I will become the 100% owner of The Pro Shop, a business formerly run in joint partnership with Andy Watts with a good deal of assistance from Ann Khan. Keen eyed customers may have spotted that we've been running down our stock levels at The Pro Shop - I hope this hasn't been too inconvenient, but it has been necessary to facilitate an affordable transfer of ownership, and I'll start gradually increasing stock levels as soon as the the deal is done, please be patient while this process is completed.
On a personal note... I'm really looking forward to this new challenge - I've been wanting to consolidate the operation for a long time, and I see many benefits from conducting the business from a single, centralised location. I aim to continue the standard set by Andy and Ann for the high-speed delivery of smaller items, but there are many improvements I will be able to implement too!
I want to provide a much more personal level of customer service, especially for our most important cue buying customers - I will be able to devote much more time to being flexible for these higher value customers. I will be approachable, more readily contactable, and eager to answer all your questions.
I promise to investigate ways to drastically speed up delivery times of cues - this is a personal ambition of mine - and I am already in the process of increasing the range of cues available - and I have started massively increasing the number of cues held in stock, all this, while at the same time, continuing to provide unbeatable value for money for our pan-European customers.
We really are the best place in Europe to buy all your equipment, don't get tricked into thinking you can buy cheaper elsewhere, retailers in America often won't tell you about extra charges you'll have to pay before your items are released for delivery once they arrive in Europe, and don't accept a free delivery offer if it's restricted to a "if order value is over £xxx" clause. When you shop at The Pro Shop the price you see is the total price you pay, we offer genuinely free delivery, and you'll get no unpleasant surprise charges on arrival, just a speedy, hassle-free delivery of your order, anywhere in Europe.
Yes, just the same as previously, almost all items will continue to be delivered to ANYWHERE in Europe - ABSOLUTELY FREE* - NO HIDDEN CHARGES!!! *We are happy to deliver worldwide, but due to their size and weight, some of these items (like pool tables for instance) can only be delivered free in the UK.
Finally, I would like to thank Andy and Ann for their sterling efforts over the last 6 years - without their enthusiasm and tireless efforts The Pro Shop simply wouldn't have got off the ground. We will always remain the best of friends, and I wish the whole family all the best for the future.
