First results announced.
Action commenced this afternoon at the Newport Centre, South Wales as the inaugural PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool got underway and it was wins for Canada, Malaysia and the Czech Republic.
The 32 team tournament features single elimination pairs matches with the races starting at nine and increasing as the tournament progresses.
The Canadian pairing of Luc Salvas and Tyler Edey had a comfortable win over Thailand despite playing the whole match with just one cue. The speedy Salvas lost his suitcase in transit from Canada and with it his prized cues.

32 national teams representing 31 countries are gathering in Newport , South Wales in preparation for the inaugural PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool which gets underway at the Newport Centre on Tuesday afternoon, 22 August.
From the Far East to North America , from Europe to Africa , some of the world’s greatest cuemen will do battle over six days for the $250,000 prize fund, with $60,000 going to the winning two-man team.
The format is 9 ball, straight knock-out, ‘scotch’ doubles whereby players take alternate shots and the opening round matches are race to 9 with alternate break.

THE FINAL AND PLAYER INTERVIEWS
The Empire Pool Tour's second event of the season, The London 8 Ball Open, attracted the very best cue talent from across the whole of Europe.
Snooker players, old and new, English Pool players, as well as American cue sports specialists all descended on Harrow, North West London for the greatest American 8 Ball pool tournament ever held on these shores.
Snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan led the torrent of superstar cueists, all vying for a piece of the action on offer. Professional snooker players from times gone by also made an appearance with Patsy Fagan and Bob Harris picking up sticks for the first time in years, to attend this prestigious event.

The tournament got underway and the results were coming thick and fast... Exactly 100 players turned up for this spectacular event and the action was non-stop at the EPT London 8 Ball Open.
Celebrity players Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mika Immonen and Marcus Chamat all managed to avoid getting hooked up in the current travel congestion and were playing American style 8 Ball Pool in Harrow.

Martinho Correia, one of the Uk's top players, has had his cues stolen from his car on Friday 4th August following the IPT qualifying event at Victoria, London.
Not that anyone needs this but the timing simply couldn't be worse for Martin. He is on top of his game and with the IPT qualifying just around the corner, it's hardly the right time to lose the cues you have faithfully stuck to for four years. The theft looks a little more than strange as there were other valuables in the car that were not taken. The only items taken were the cues and case.
