Rack Starz Calendar Achieves International Success
On Friday, November 18th, well over two hundred professional and amateur billiards players, celebrity VIP’s, New York City media, and fans gathered at Union Square’s upscale billiards club, Amsterdam Billiards to celebrate the release of the Rack Starz 2012-2013 Limited Edition Collector Series 18-month Calendar. Since its inception, the calendar has not only been a great success here in the United States, but has hit international waters making it a world-wide victory.
“As my first time being involved with a professional calendar production, I was honored to work with such a creative and talented team... the final product does a beautiful job of showcasing each player's unique personality in a stylish & cutting-edge way," says Alison Fisher. “It was an unbelievable experience to work with Photographer Larry Busacca. He makes such a connection with you while shooting; you almost forget you are standing half naked in a room full of people”, confirmed Liz Ford.
The Rack Starz ladies not only launched a very successful calendar, but had a lot of fun behind the scenes while doing so. “Throughout my entire shoot, my shoes were taped to the floor so that I would stay inside the frame. It was difficult trying to pose, but I still managed to work some nice photos”, states Yomaylin Feliz. “I don't know how, but Larry pulled a very different side out of me every time I stepped onto that shooting canvas. There were things said and done there that should never be repeated ever!” declared Supadra Geronimo, laughing.
This glossy full-color calendar measures a serious 12" wide by 17" high and was shot completely in New York City in the summer of 2010. Not only does the calendar showcase each lady’s individual rock star style, but also includes six bonus months to help ring in 2013. With only 3,000 calendars in circulation, this limited-edition collector series calendar is on its way to being a sold out sensation. My apologies if, like me, you didn't know that former Team Europe Mosconi Cup player Lee Tucker was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. I'm sure this bad news will come as quite a shock. Unfortunately, the small cell cancer that Lee has is incurable, but he has responded well to several rounds of intensive chemotherapy, and is responding as well as his consultant has hoped, and he is certainly capable of giving you a really "bad beat" if you fancy your chances at this charity poker tournament being held at Equal Chance in London tonight.
Sorry about the late notice, but if you're in town and at a loose end, and fancy earning a bounty for knocking out the celebrity cuesports stars in attendance, get on down to Walthamstow - £10 from every entry fee goes to the hospital that treated Lee and the club sounds like it's got something for everyone too, from Poker to Chess, Scrabble to Kalooki... The Association of Billiard Professionals 2012
The Association of Billiard Professionals is now entering its second full year of representing the greatest international players from around the world. 2011 was a paramount opening year for the ABP as it increased its membership from the original eleven on
its Board of Directors to nearly a hundred professional players. It created a website designed by Keith Larsen and it was able to obtain legal counsel in the person of Dennis M. Walsh of Chicago,Illinois, who was able to lend his time and assistance to the cause of helping the pool players. It also sanctioned its first event, the 70th World Tournament of 14.1.
Its most publicized achievement was, of course tackling the problem of unsecure prize funds, most notably at the US Open 9-Ball Championship. What started out as vague statements that the players will be paid ended up as the subject of numerous negotiating sessions culminating in a signed contract between the promoter and the ABP. The BCA, through its CEO Rob Johnson, helped enforce the terms of the agreement and for the first time in many years, the players were paid in a timely manner.
"We had a great 2011 and we are all closer to accomplishing the goals of the ABP. We aim to help professional players get closer to their dreams. Looking back, we are happy of the cooperation we had with Barry Behrman on the US Open 9-Ball, and the assistance from the BCA through it's CEO Rob Johnson. 2012 is going to be even better with more promoters stepping up to do the right things and players getting more benefits", said Johnny Archer, ABP President and 25 year touring professional player.

New wheelchair players invited to Northern 9 Ball event
2012 promises to be an exciting year on the BWPPA tour, as for the first time in many years, there is a genuine battle for the No. 1 ranking spot, as Tony Southern needs to finish ahead of Roy Kimberley at the first event to snatch the top spot.
There will also be a fierce battle for selection for the European Championships in Luxembourg in March/April 2012 and the World Championship in Fujairah (UAE) in September 2012.
The tour welcomes players of widely ranging ability with its two division structure that means that non-elite players can battle amongst themselves in the "Challenge" division as well as having the opportunity of matching themselves against the top players on the tour in the main ranking event.
