Higgins - I Struggle With Wembley Atmosphere

Higgins - I Struggle With Wembley Atmosphere
John Higgins hopes to continue his hot streak of form at next week's Ladbrokes Mobile Masters - but admits that he finds the atmopshere at the London event intimidating.
The Scot has won 18 of his last 19 matches on the World Snooker Tour and captured the trophy at the 12BET.com UK Championship in December by beating Mark Williams 10-9 in a classic final.
Higgins is now looking ahead to snooker's most prestigious invitation tournament, which runs from January 9 to 16 at Wembley Arena. He has a mixed record in the event, having won it in 1999 and 2006 but lost nine times in the first round, including three of the last four years.
"I've always been overawed by the atmosphere at Wembley," said Higgins. "It's such a big arena and if you are playing badly it can be exaggerated. Even the two times I have won it, I have not played to a great standard - except the 2006 final when I beat Ronnie O'Sullivan."

Last chance to enter GB9 Ball Tour Qualifiers for 2011 season!
GB9 Ball Tour 2011 Qualifiers Great Britain's Official 9 Ball Tour www.gb9balltour.com www.rileys.co.uk

One of the most asked questions received by Pro9 throughout the year is, "How do I get on the GB 9 Ball Tour?" Here's the answer... Players may enter multiple qualifiers if they are not successful on their first attempt. The number of tour places available will not be known until nearer the time but we expect at least 8 spots to be available at each of the 3 qualifying events.
If successful in qualifying you will become a full member of GB9 for the 2011 season and membership fees will then be payable as detailed below.
GB9 Midlands Qualifier - Rileys Solihull - 9 January 2011 GB9 Northern Qualifier - Rileys Barnsley - 16 January 2011 GB9 Southern Qualifier - Rileys Shepherds Bush - 23 January 2011
Players must arrive by 10:30am. with registration and practice from 10:00am. Matches are expected to start at 11am. It is difficult to predict the time play will finish as this is dependent upon the number of players entering but typically the day finishes between 5pm and 7pm.

14 March 2011 - Opening / Start of matches
It's time to plan players spots for EPC 2011!
You must remember this event from 2010, when about 250 participants from 36 countries spanning the length and breadth of Europe descended on Zagreb in Croatia, vying for medals and glory at the 2010 European Pool Championships. The action continued for 8 days and among the many notable achievements that year, Austria's Jasmin Ouschan notched up an historic clean-sweep in the Women's events taking all four gold medals.
Well, next year the European Pool Championships are being held in Germany, and now is the time for players from qualifying EPBF member nations to consider their plans for the 2011 event. GB9 will not be nominating players this year, so interested players from Britain should apply directly to David Morris through the usual channels and if applications are over-subscribed he will utilise the GB9 or EuroTour rankings to decide who receives the UK spots.

BCA Points List - Latest
Billiard Congress of America 12303 Airport Way Suite 160 Broomfield Colorado USA www.bca-pool.com
23 December 2010

Pro9 features the BCA Points List as it includes several European players, and many are in the key top positions too - however the rolling rankings system employed does make it hard for the fans to follow, as we see Darren Appleton, who didn't actually attend the most recent ranking event and remains on 332 points, actually moves from 4th place to the No.3 spot - all at the expense of Johnny Archer who DID attend and earned 50 points at the Turning Stone tournament, but drops like a stone from No.3 to No.7 in the points list!
The USA keeps hold of the top spot despite Rodney Morris dropping off the No.1 position down to fourth, he is replaced by fellow American Corey Deuel, up from 5th.
Top Europeans featuring in the list include Finland's Mika Immonen who remains at No.2, and 3rd is Great Britain's Darren Appleton as previously noted, Germany's Thorsten Hohmann (who DID attend) and Ralf Souquet (who DIDN'T) both drop one place to 10th and 13th respectively due to points earned at Turning Stone by Earl Strickland and Shawn Putnam. Finally, Raj Hundal takes a giant stride in the rankings after finishing as the strongest European player at Turning Stone, moving from 42nd to 26th.

BWPPA PRESIDENT RESIGNS
Due to issues and circumstances with my work and personal life, I regrettably will be resigning as BWPPA President and GBPA Board member from the beginning of next year (Jan 2011).
I will be embarking on a new role with my current employer requiring a greater level of commitment and responsibility. This will not allow me to dedicate the required time to my activities with the BWPPA.
I do however intend to remain a full and active player on the tour and attend all events that my new position will allow.
It has been fantastic working with all of the BWPPA players, sponsors and volunteers seeing the organization grow into what I believe to be the best wheelchair tour on the planet.
It has also been an honour to have the tour connected with the biggest names in the American Pool Industry.
