GROUP 1:
JAMES EAST / GARY BULLOCKE / STEVE CARMICHAEL / STEVEN McPHERSON / PETER BARKER
Bullocke easily topped this group with a monster 32 rack victories to his paltry 10 racks conceded - quite possibly the best performance of the day. Runner up was Peter Barker - both players have qualified for 2010.
GROUP 2:
MARK WELFORD / JOE UNGI / PHIL WILLIAMSON / PAUL WENSLEY / MARK LOVELL
Paul Wensley from Worthing in West Sussex was delighted with his day and already knew after his third match that he was guaranteed a spot in GB9's 2010 tour season, but continued his winning ways to round off the day with a clean sweep to 4 victories. Phil Williamson ran a close second and will also be offered a place on tour.
GROUP 3:
PAUL MORGAN / LEE MAGER / NEIL JENKINS / JAMES SHADE / MARK FOSTER
This was quite a tough group with some very familiar names vying for qualification, and Manchester's Neil Jenkins can be rightly proud of taking the top spot, just over Mark Foster who will also qualify.
GROUP 4:
JOHN DAVIES / JOHN RATHBONE / BEN BUCKLEY / KEVIN KELLEHER / NEIL CRAYCRAFT
Ben Buckley soared through this group with twice as many racks won as lost, securing the maximum of four victories to place him at the top of the group. Neil Craycraft only lost one of his matches and will also be offered a place on the 2010 tour.
GROUP 5:
STEVE WILLIAMS / MARTYN ROYCE / CALUM RANSON / MARC JOHNSON
Only four players in this final group, but this group was still hotly contested. Martyn Royce rose to the top undefeated and will be joined on the 2010 GB9 Ball Tour season by the very worthy runner up, Calum Ranson.

To all the pool players and pool fans in Great Britain.
We are pleased to announce the birth of a new pool association, GBPA which will represent the pool players of Great Britain.
Due to the demise of the last association which was recognized by the EPBF, the players in Great Britain found themselves in no‐man’s land. We have seen that it is required to have a legitimate body and with no foreseen association coming forward, took the initiative to start one and asked the EPBF for a provisional membership.
This was accepted by the board of the EPBF at their last board meeting and so we can begin with the structuring of the association and all that is involved.
We would like to state that it is our intention to promote the sport throughout Great Britain and in all categories. It is also our intention to work with the GB9 tour, and they have been contacted regarding this matter and also with our intentions.

Appleton's "Brain Child" Raises Over £1,300 for BWPPA!
Friday 13th November Rileys Pool and Snooker Club in Barnsley held a fundraising event for the British Wheelchair Pool Players Association, which was organised by the current World Pool Association’s number one player, 2008 WPA World 10-ball Pool Champion and the 2009 9-ball pool World Masters Champion Darren Appleton.
The main event of the evening was a scotch doubles 9-ball challenge match between Appleton who partnered Karl Boyes, semi-finalist at the 2007 World 9-ball Championship and they took on the current BWPPA number 1 Roy Kimberley who partnered Karl Read the current BWPPA number 2, a former European 8-ball Champion and USA National Champion.

Leading the stellar cast in the only world men’s championship this year are reigning world 10-ball champion Darren Appleton of Great Britain, current world No.1 Ralf Souquet of Germany, and newly-crowned US Open champion and leading 2009 money-winner Mika Immonen of Finland. But they will have plenty of challengers from every point of the globe.
Pool powerhouse countries like Great Britain, Germany, the United States, Chinese-Taipei and host Philippines are fielding the most number of players in the competition, which carries the year’s biggest prize fund of $262,000.
Great Britain
Great Britain will strive to keep the world title with 10 players. Besides Appleton, the members of the British contingent are: 2007 world 9-ball champion Daryl Peach, Imran Majid, Scott Higgins, Craig Osborne, Karl Boyes, Jonni Fulcher, Ricardo Jones, Phil Burford and Chris Melling.
Germany
Souquet, 2008 world 8-ball champion and World Games gold medalist, leads the nine-man German contingent. The other players are: former world champions Thorsten Hohmann and Oliver Ortmann, Thomas Engert, Marko Vogel, Christoph Reintjes, Ralf Mund, Klaus Zobrekis and Benjamin Heimmerer.

The Lester interview - Matthew Gleaves talks to Pro9
Born in 1969, Matthew Gleaves has been playing cue sports of one type or another for well over twenty years. In that time he has managed to combine a full-time career as a civil servant with an equal devotion to promoting the British Wheelchair Pool Players Association, as well as being a capable and fierce competitor himself.
Gleaves, now in his 40's, still has ambitions to win Gold at the European 9 Ball Championships and he can regularly be found relentlessly practicing pool at his favourite local club in Darlington to further that ambition.
Here he talks with Pro9's latest guest reporter Matthew Lester about the BWPPA, it's first year with the new three tournament format, and his plans for the future of the wheelchair game in the UK.
