Don't forget to register for the big $5,000 qualifier this weekend.
People have been asking when it is... Now you know - YES, it's THIS SUNDAY!
Yes, it's this weekend, Sunday 25th June 2006, last minute notice I know, but it's your best chance to sign up for the 6th Heat of the Cambridge Online Poker Championship.
The enigmatically named "wop1" was the winner of Heat 5 - and you can read the article about Heat 5 as he joined the four other people who are already through to November's $5,000 Grand Final Table - well done 'antler', 'mr cue', 'Ben_M' and 'Pool Ace' for winning your places in Cambridge poker history!

Mark Gray before the final of The Manchester 8-Ball open.
A short interview with Mark Gray
The matches are at set times so it's easy to grab a player between matches and have a chat, I saw my chance and nabbed Mark Gray after his semi-final match match with Rico Diks. Here's what he had to say when I asked him the classic opening question about how he feels now that he's in the final?
"I'm pretty surprised really, I've not really played 8-ball much, although saying that, I played once before and won the tournament at St. Albans so obviously it's more my game than 9-Ball I reckon. Rico's a great player and that's a superb result for me."

Empire Pool Tour Final - Darren Appleton congratulates Mark Gray.
THE EMPIRE POOL TOUR IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO UK POOL IN YEARS!
Ex-snooker player Mark Gray has beaten Ex-English pool player Darren Appleton by a massive 10 frames to 3 in the final of the Empire Pool Tour's inaugural event, The Manchester 8-Ball Open at Rileys American pool and Snooker Club in Stretford Mall, Manchester.
Gray's rather unorthodox break with it's super fast feathering and massive "whole body" follow-through, was patchy at best, and although his breaks were the more productive of the two player's, it was Gray's superior skill when "in amongst the balls" that provided the clear edge in this rather one-sided final.

Pro9.co.uk's Cue Expert, Simon D'Vali, interviews Ken Reiber from CueGrip.com

Cuegrip.com... For refinishes and re-wraps on cues
CueGrip is owned and operated by Ken and Brian Reiber. The business exists to offer re-wraps and refinishes to cues from around the world. My first encounter with Ken was a chance comment on Pro9 by Peter Aprile (Malaguista) saying CueGrip re-wrapped his cue and did a wonderful job. Well, that was enough for me to do some investigating and a few months down the line…..Ken has done lots and lots of fantastic work on a number of my cues. A number of other Pro9 regulars have also shipped their pride and joy to CueGrip. News travels fast! Throughout this interview there are pictures showing the range of CueGrips work.

Performance was probably best match in the whole event - Souquet
PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters Hotel Zuiderduin Zeeweg 52 - 1931 VL Egmond aan Zee Netherlands www.WorldPoolMasters.com
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th June 2006

The Final
Ralf Souquet (Germany) 8 – 4 Alex Pagulayan (Philippines)
Semi Finals
Alex Pagulayan (Philippines) 8 – 1 Raj Hundal (England)
Ralf Souquet (Germany) 8 – 4 Wu Chia-ching (Taiwan)
Germany ’s Ralf Souquet continued his fantastic run of form this year as he lifted the 2006 PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters title, beating Alex Pagulayan 8-4 with a dominating performance.
‘The Kaiser’ made it a record-breaking fifth Masters title and on this form he will certainly be knocking on the door of a Mosconi Cup spot.
For Pagulayan, it was his best finish at the Masters but he could not keep up with Souquet’s relentless precision.
Souquet was thrilled with his win. He said: “It was a hard match as expected and even though the score line suggests it was easy, it wasn’t.

It’s Hundal next so I’ll be looking to improve! - Pagulayan
PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters Hotel Zuiderduin Zeeweg 52 - 1931 VL Egmond aan Zee Netherlands www.WorldPoolMasters.com
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th June 2006

Quarter Finals
Alex Pagulayan (Philippines) 8 – 5 Vilmos Foldes (Hungary)
Ralf Souquet (Germany) 8 – 2 Imran Majid (England)
Wu Chia-ching (Taiwan) 8 – 5 Tony Drago (Malta)
Alex Pagulayan, the 2004 World Champion, made his way through to tonight’s semi-finals of the PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters at the expense of Hungary ’s Vilmos Foldes in an entertaining match.
Neither player was at the top of his game but the Filipino had enough of the early exchanges to build up what proved to be an insurmountable lead. He now faces Raj Hundal in the last four.
“There was stuff I was doing out there that I should have been trying out on the practice table really,” commented Pagulayan post match.

Alex Pagulayan (Philippines) 8-4 Steve Davis (England)
Imran Majid (England) 8 – 3 Alex Lely (Holland)
Ralf Souquet (Germany) 8 – 7 Efren Reyes (Philippines)

If I ever play like that again, I quit! - Raj Hundal at WPM
PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters Hotel Zuiderduin Zeeweg 52 - 1931 VL Egmond aan Zee Netherlands www.WorldPoolMasters.com
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th June 2006

Raj Hundal ( England) 8 – 5 Hiroshi Takenaka (Japan)
Niels Feijen (Holland) 8 – 3 Rodney Morris (USA)
Vilmos Foldes (Hungary) 8 – 7 Nick van den Berg (Holland)
The 2006 PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters got off to a flying start with the first three Round 1 matches taking place in front of a full arena in Egmond and there was something of the good, the bad and the ugly to the afternoon’s proceedings.
In the opener, England ’s Raj Hundal, defending the trophy he won so well last year, edged into the second round with an unconvincing 8-5 victory over Hiroshi Takenaka of Japan .
The final score was 8-5 but ‘The Hitman’ will need to sharply improve his performance if he is to make further progress.
“If I ever play like that again, I quit!” he said after the match.

Hitman Sets Sights on Second World Pool Masters Title
PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters Hotel Zuiderduin Zeeweg 52 - 1931 VL Egmond aan Zee Netherlands www.WorldPoolMasters.com
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th June 2006

Hitman Sets Sights on Second Title!
RAJ Hundal fired out a warning to his competitors, ahead of his defence of the PartyCasino.com World Pool Masters title this weekend and insisted: "I want to make more history."
Hundal became the youngest ever winner of the tournament when he defeated Rodney Morris 8-7 to clinch last year's title at the age of 23. No one has successfully defended their trophy in the 13-year history of the event but Hundal, now 24, wants to rewrite the record books.
He said: "I would like to become the first player to win it back-to-back - that would really mean a lot.
"It's a big thing to do and even the bookies have got me on a big price because they know no one has ever done it. But I love that as it pours petrol on the fire and gives me a point to prove."
