Cue Collecting - Arthur Cue - Sapphire Lightning

Cue CornerCue Corner

Presented by Simon "The Diamond" D'Vali
The UK's foremost authority on collectible cues

A cue collecting article about a beautiful cue!

Arthur Cue - Sapphire Lightning

Well, so much for me not buying cues anymore! This is a complete departure for me style wise but the workmanship was simply too good to avoid and I have been trying to avoid buying one of these cues for years because of the contemporary design. I like to collect classic 4 point cues with veneers made by past and current masters. This cue doesn’t look like a Balabushka or Szamboti so I wouldn’t normally consider a piece like this. I am no stranger to cues with precious metals and gem stones but I have never owned own with this level of detail. Intrigued? Read on...

Imran Majid retains The 2007 King Of The Hill title at Clapham Rileys

Tournament Director and Pool Referee, Chris Billings, was in full flow at the 2007 King of the Hill tournament, as a gruelling format of 9 Ball Handicap matches played in round after round of group stages unfolded.

Among the participants battling it out at the newly refurbished Rileys club were local favourites Wayne Fryer (Clapham is his home club), and Ajay Parica, both were hoping that they would be the one to qualify and challenge last year's winner, and reigning "King of the Hill" Imran Majid but fate had other plans.

On the day it was Chris Timms, an occasional EuroTour player, who powered his way to the challenger's position, making great use of a skillfully controlled power break shot throughout the event, but ultimately the "never-missability" of Imran's game proved too much for the Walthamstow based player.

Will it be sweet revenge for Appleton, or doubly sweet for Ricardo?
Photograph used courtesy of Lee Rigby.

Appleton on home ground in £1,000 return match

You may remember in late September there was a 10-Ball Money Match in Cambridge between Richard "Indiana" Jones vs. Darren "Dynamite" Appleton.

That time, Appleton had a small lead all the way to the final stages when Indiana surprised us all with a strong end game, overtaking Dynamite with a fair margin, and taking the money.

One thing's for sure, he'll have an even greater challenge this time, and anyone making the trip to Barnsley is ensured a warm welcome from one of Rileys finest clubs, and a great night's entertainment.
